Thank you for your commentary in support of sport shooting and gun rights in Canada Brian. This country, under the current governing woke mob, has become intolerable. We sorely need new government and certain constitutional guarantees. Globally, it's good to see some countries waking up to reality.
Well... We learn how most other important technologies work, like hydroelectric dams, the basics of how planes and helicopters fly, some of the chemistry behind cooking, how an internal combustion engine works, and a bit about how computers work. More information like this in the zeitgeist seems like a good idea.
American here but our High School had a basic marksmanship class that was basically the USMC basic rifle marksmanship course done with old surplus Springfield 1903s.
In the 80s I dated a girl from Vietnam and she and her sister while in high school in Vietnam had to take firearms courses and also live fire them on a range to graduate.
PAL & RPAL courses could be MANDATORY TRAINING for EVERY legally allowed person. Even if for nothing else, then to be properly informed about firearms. Perhaps even, if there was common sense that still existed here, the bare minimum would be to have a firearms awareness course focusing on informing the general public about the facts surrounding firearms instead of the fear mongering being done by the Lib gov't. After such an awareness course, the individual could make an informed decision about wishing to aquire a PAL / RPAL.
@@Thalanox That was a military dictatorship that only allowed members of the military or retired military to have the right to vote, and you were a non citizen and had no rights unless you joined the military. Under the present Canadian government all you need to do is move to Canada temporarily to have the rights of a Canadian citizen and be allowed to vote, which means that if the present Canadian government wants to, they can allow foreign interference in their favor so as to get reelected and retain power.
@@aldenfloyd5432 ...You watched the movie without paying any attention to it, didn't you? It's not a military dictatorship. The franchise is granted to anyone who wants it as long as they do difficult work l. If someone doesn't want to join the military, then they do other work for the franchise. Down to counting the individual leg hairs of a caterpillar if they're suitable for no other work. The franchise was restricted to those who proved they valued the society they live in, rather than those who exploit society for their own personal benefit (those people do get their fantastic wealth, but just don't have the franchise). The man in charge of the military announced his mistake after one disastrous attack attempt and immediately retired so that someone else could take the role. I very highly encourage you to read the book. It talks a lot more about responsibility than the movie did, and the guy who made the movie didn't care about the book and didn't read the book. He changed things specifically to spread the lies and false impressions that you have expressed here. You have had your mind programmed by willful lies, which is changing your perceptions, which is changing your overall opinions when interacting with a variety of ideas. I hope the danger of this is clear, since it's obvious that this idea and perception manipulation is applied in many places in society, and that it can only be proved simply in some situations. It is up to us to look up the sources and to think critically.
@Thalanox ANY style of government that goes too far to the left or the right is bad. Sadly, here in Canada, for at least 5+ years, we've been under the thumbs of the farthest left (woke (new day term) and dilusional) government this country has ever seen. Now, there needs to be a major right correction to stop the destructive insanity created by the Liberals. Hopefully, after the hard right push, we can stabilize somewhere near the middle, and then set up parliamentary systems that will never let this governmental insanity, that we've all witnessed under the current Lib government, ever happen again.
@@aldenfloyd5432 No it isn't. Everything you have claimed about this is incorrect. I had a bigger post explaining things, but it was put down the memory hole.
Absolutely agree. Now the trick to have mandatory gun training starting in elementary schools is to have instructors dressed in drag and let the anti gun left figure how not to complain. The perfect transition.
A 2023 report published in JAMA covering 2014 to 2022, found there had been 4,011 mass shootings in the US. Is Canada feeling left behind in climbing this table.
I grew up in Montana USA - not far removed from Alberta. We had an actual gun range in the school basement (22 only). Had to use the school provided guns though because they wanted single shot just for safety reasons.
Greeting Brian. Hope you had a very Merry Christmas and may you have a great 2025. We will hear in Canada when the tyrant is voted out of office and his girlfriend Jagmeet too. Please look at the CCFR ( firearms rights group) and see what they’ve done and what they’re doing to support Canadian firearms owners. They are a fantastic organization.

We had gun safety and marksmanship classes in my high-school. In the 60s and early 70s.

What do you think about the setting and priorities of the Starship Troopers style of government?

All of the High schools in the Niagara Region of Ontario used to make Firearms Training mandatory from Grade 9 to Grade 12!

We had army cadets when I was in school also air and navy cadets lots of Gun safety training
Didn't CSSA endorse previous gun bans?
They defiantly did not. And they never will. CSSA is made up of patriots, freedom lovers and supporters of guns and gun people.

CCFR does great work. I have met the fellows and gals at gun shows.
