From Wikipedia:
Macon (/ˈmeɪkən/), officially Macon-Bibb County, is a consolidated city-county in the U.S. state of Georgia. Macon lies near the state's geographic center, about 85 miles (137 km) southeast of Atlanta -hence the city's nickname, "The Heart of Georgia".
Located near the fall line of the Ocmulgee River, Macon had a 2019 estimated population of 153,159. It is the principal city of the Macon Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had an estimated population of 228,914 in 2017. Macon is also the largest city in the Macon-Warner Robins Combined Statistical Area (CSA), a larger trading area with an estimated 420,693 residents in 2017; the CSA abuts the Atlanta metropolitan area just to the north.
In a 2012 referendum, voters approved the consolidation of the governments of the City of Macon and Bibb County, and Macon became Georgia's fourth-largest city (just after Columbus). The two governments officially merged on January 1, 2014.
Macon is served by three interstate highways: I-16 (connecting the city to Savannah and coastal Georgia), I-75 (connecting the city with Atlanta to the north and Valdosta to the south), and I-475 (a city bypass highway).
The city has several institutions of higher education, as well as numerous museums and tourism sites. The area is served by Middle Georgia Regional Airport and Herbert Smart Downtown Airport. The mayor is Robert Reichert, a former Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives. Reichert was elected mayor of the newly consolidated city of Macon-Bibb and took office on January 1, 2014.

Macon is simply not relevant without the boi Adam Ragusea🙅

@@Faded.0001 not funny
Everyone in Macon knows him. He is the ambassador of the city
My family has lived in Central GA for years and I've lived there all my life, and I've been away for 5 months for military training but I can't wait to cruise the streets in my 86 nissan again and eat countless nu way hotdogs. Love the video. Only 45 days left till I'm back to my one true home.
The town of white wine.

Yes, beautiful city. Downtown Macon It is home to many museums, ranging from the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame to the Tubman African American Museum Nomerous Antebellum homes are located in Downtown Macon, including the Woodruff House, the Hay House, and the Cannonball House.Thank you for the beautiful video and for the virtual tour from Chicago, Illinois.
I love Macon. While Savannah is the colonial South and Atlanta is the modern South...Macon is the antebellum South. Just going down I-75 from Atlanta to Macon and I-16 from Macon to Savannah is a step back through time (architecturally speaking).
What about Columbus area or Augusta area
I don’t know what antebellum means.
@@ramencurry6672 It means "before the Civil War"...a lot of the old mansions from before the Civil War are still standing because Macon did not get destroyed during the Civil War.
Antebellum socially too!
@@raydaniel2490Atlanta was established as a city in 1837 first as Terminus, final name was solidified in 1847. Atlanta is pre antebellum.
I lived in macon a little over 6 months doing some work at plant shcerer. I met some cool people and found some nice hangout spots. Always got love for the Mac Town!!! 😊
Coming down to St Augustine for all of March. Planning on taking a trip up to Macon to see the Bighouse. loved the Allman Bros.
I grew up in Macon. 1958 - 1966 (5th grade through high school graduation, (Willingham High). It was a blast back then, even though the Highschools weren't coeducational....at least not the White Schools. Great Football rivalries, though for years we beat Lanier like a drum. I can't believe you didn't "drag Cherry." The sad part is that the old hangouts like Finchers BBQ and Pig And Whistle were no where. There also were so many places that no longer are there. Chichesters' Drugs, NuWay hotdogs, Marks Hideaway (Restaurant under the Street), etc. I did catch a glimpse of the Dempsey, but it looks like a lot of vacant store front / buildings in downtown. No matter, I still LOVE Macon. You really should have Showcased Macon during the Cherry Blossom festival and shown some of the beautiful Antebellum homes there.
sometimes i miss the smell of cherry blossoms in the spring and summer and the style of the old buildings make me homesick i miss macon
Down town looks way better then it did 7/8 years ago
Yes
Thank you. Enjoyed the cruze around downtown Macon.
This video opens with the street I grew up on that is no longer there; Virgin St lol. Brings back memories, good and bad. This is an incredible video. 👏🏾
Macon Georgia, I left Macon back in 2011. That looks like Macon Center on the right. Now you're no Poplar St. On MLK Jr Blvd, Mercer Medicine, Walnut St. going left. I use to live in that motel on the left about 20 years ago. I remember Broadway, take a left on Riverside on the left, I still they run light huh? Ole College St, on Georgia Ave, right on Mulberry. All you are doing is driving around.
Just finished playing the walking dead game on PS4 wanted see what Real location looks like. Is Savannah near that?
Yeah Savannah is about an hour and a half from Macon.
@@MileageMikeTravels wow cool and thank you :)

Otis Redding, daughter, opened up a shoe store named Karla's, back in the day and I was sad to hear about the store closing down. I kept saying I was going to shop there, but waited to late.
I saw my mom shoe store and my mom's salon! thank you for this!
You’re welcome 😉
*Lee will remember that*
My grandparents owned a Cafe for many decades in downtown Macon best pie ever
What was it called? I'm trying to remember the southern food place I used to go on Walnut Av, downtown, in the 1990's, for lunch.
@@pterafirma McCullough Cafe then they sold it to Jeanne renaming it Jeanne's Cafe after this idk sorry oh Jeanne's at Pine Brook is another restaurant of her's back in Macon Georgia 🙃❤️❤️
Yayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
I love Macon, a massively underrated city.
And may it remain "underrated" and beautiful.
The city is actually sleepy and terrible but that’s part of the charm
EMERY HWY, Jeffersonville road, shurlington drive, isn’t the outskirts , it’s east Macon 😂🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾 . BIBB COUNTY
I cannot believe you did not do Cherry Street, the traditional main street of Macon Ga

Spent many years living in Macon! Some happy memories and not so happy!
Home of Capricorn recording studio. Allman Brothers, Wet Willie, Chuck Levell, Otis Redding, Little Richard etc. All the 70's bands called Macon home at some point, even Cher who married Greg Allman. Downtown has everything you need for a good time. Legendary H&H Cafe, many other eateries on Cherry Street. Home of Cherry Blossom Festival. So many things to offer. Of course like any mid size town, there are areas riddled by crime but everyone knows to stay away. The video here does not do justice to the city. Come see for yourself.
I live here!!!
Where is that goddamn pharmacy......you know the one that one!
Well if you know, you know...
Beautiful = Bonito
Do I-475 North(GA) full route(Bibb to Monroe County) please.
Didn’t get that one but I-75 through Macon is coming.
Your ride is in the downtown quad that is seen so far.

the town that started the walking of the deads
What’s the purpose of this video without any talking about what this blogger is seeing hell I live in Warner Robins if I want to see Macon I will just get on 247 and off I go.
Some commentary would have been nice for those of us unfamiliar to Macon.
No. It would spoil the scenery and create unnecessary distraction.
Wow this place looks depressing
Your depressing
It’s an interesting place. Yes a lot of empty stores and old ruins and it is on the “depressing “ side. But it does have an interesting historical vibe.
I was born and raised in Macon. It sure has gone down fast. I moved out in 94. Will never go back. Down town is looking better but it’s still a shit hole city. Nice place to visit but don’t move there.
