    Check out our latest snowboarding tutorial on Carving as it is designed to teach you how to carve! Carving refers to turning your snowboard using only the edge shape (sidecut) of your board and is super useful for riding pipe and in the set-up for spinning jumps.

    Thank you so much. A good teaching video should be like this: the instructor is a pro; give the definition; break down steps; from easy to difficult.Your suggestions are professional, practical and clear.

    This is the best carving instruction I've seen so far. The clock analogy made the main thing I've been having trouble with very clear. Thank you. Subbed :)

    Great video! Step 1 taught me how to stack and put pressure on my edges and lock in a toe side carve. Once I got into kicking my hips out over the edge I Never looked back since:) also the kid in the background at 1:30 is Killing it! Ha 💯🤙🏼

    Was anyone else stunned to hear that most riding in resort is not carving? I’ve been thinking sliding is a bad thing - but this makes it clear that in practice carving is the minority (and actually needs a nice piste)

    This is the first legit soft boot carving tutorial I've seen on TH-cam. Although... I would say 1 to 5 on toeside and 11 to 7 heel. Knitpicking I suppose. But let's see the 11 to 7 on toeside (reg. and camera downhill of rider) and 1 to 5 heelside.

  • @clv603
    @clv603 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Also very important that wasn't mentioned in the video is boot size and board width. Too much overhang from the board with will result in toe drag or heel drag, and you will have a bad time attempting to carve! Make sure that the edge is the only thing touching the ground when you are practicing on a hard surface as demonstrated in the beginning of the video. If your boot or binding touches on toe side or heel side on hard ground, your board width needs to be increased until it isn't. Hope this message helps someone!

    Great vid... I havent been able to perfect carving yet and cant wait to try this out.. What would suggest to stick in duck stance (15 -15) when learning, or a forward power stance ( something like 21 9)?

    when changing from heel to toe, and toe to heel, it is necessary to stand up? because when i do that i relieve a lot of pressure and ride with energy to spare

      You're right my dude. After standing (extension) using the brief moment of weightlessness to have a controlled squat into the opposing direction results in effortless transition. At higher velocity I find my body does get tired as the jumping into turns demands more control through stabilizing at higher forces (im sure youre feeling it too).

  • @whoisthe1412

    Get Lib Tech or GNU, their boards are for carving all day.

  • @yys5919
    @yys5919 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I may be wrong but in my opinion pushing your shin into the boot tongue is not the best way for toe side carve. I lift the edge mainly using the the tips of the toes rather than using the boot tongue. For both heel and toe side turn I use the toes to control the edges.

    Question about knee health I have had for a long time: When I go to the gym and do squats, the number one safety rule is never to bend your knees over your toes. However, that’s what we have to do for toe side carve.
    I personally am starting to feel the effect as I have been practicing carving and bending my knees into the snow more. Is there a way to mitigate the stress on our knees yet still allow us to carve? 🙏🏻

    • @Ezoluna

      I've noticed that a lot of the stability comes from my calves and the boots/bindings. Try to use the board and flow with it instead of forcing it to go where you want with your thighs maybe?

    • @beamoflaser
      @beamoflaser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's not true, it's not unsafe to let your knees pass your toes in a squat. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about. There are plenty of powerlifters and Olympic lifters that have their knees passed their toes.

  • @roalvaredo

    (1:00) I disagree. A snowboarder should carve the majority of the time and only skid turns when carving is not possible such as on icy slopes, steep runs or bumpy terrain or a combination of these.

    Those carves are pretty lame, tbh. Can't tell if this is an instructor or a student.
