It’s crazy how in 2011 it was a big deal that Warner Bros didn’t top the studios in terms of market share but now if they did it would break the internet
I drove 4 hours to see Interstellar in 70mm IMAX film this past weekend - in Ft Lauderdale. I've never seen a theater so packed and with such an incredible energy among the audience. Easily the best movie theater experience I've ever had in my life. I saw it a second time the next day in a digital IMAX theater much closer to home and the energy in the audience was equally as incredible.
The hype for Sonic 3 is big enough that it might edge out Mufasa but There is a chance that Mufasa hits the same stride that Inside Out 2 did. I.e. relatively mid expectations but extremely strong walk up businesses and legs.
I know Moana 2 is a relatively big hit as of rn, that 63.3% for a family film is a bit telling that the word of mouth on the movie might be a bit more lukewarm than Disney would have wanted.
Right I gave my sister a review. She’s a BIG Disney fan like myself and she has opted to wait for Moana 2 on Disney+ so I thought the movie was a 7/10 and I’m being generous i really wanna say 6.8/10
It's a summer/fall kinda movie opening during the Xmas season... LOL Hopefully for it's star, the movie will break even because he's set to be the new James Bond.

Last year Wish dropped -61% in weekend two on the same release schedule. Mirroring Wish is not exactly ideal, but it also started 7 times bigger so such a drop isn't a disaster like it was in 2023.
Wish took in a total of 254 million after an oping 19 million. Moana 2 is already at 600 million after two weeks. It opened to 139 million. I don't know what mirror you are looking at?
@@bobbyvee9950 Moana 2 is a successful, without a doubt, but after just its first weekend some people could have said that it would be a 1.4-1.5B movie and I would have said "maybe yeah". However, now I believe it could not reach 950M; still hreat numbers, just not an Inside-Out-2-level success and less than what the first weekend had suggested.
I’m really happy Solo Leveling did well, I’ve read the manwha and thought the anime so far is pretty damn good, definitely one of the much better shows I’ve watched this year. I wish I could’ve gone with my buddies but we were too busy. Excited for Season 2 next year! Arise!

Not surprised to see how well Interstellar did. They hit a sweet spot with number of showings at my I-Max. Theaters staff said the Saturday Night showing sold over 200 tickets. Another throw everything at the wall weekend actually, crammed in Flow, Y2k (liked it better than Dan), A Christmas Story (really nice print), the Return, Get Away (really enjoyed it) and Interstellar. Doing Werewolves tomorrow.
Pushpa 2 had a Record Breaking $63.1M Opening Weekend ( 3 Days ) & $97.8M ( 4 Days Extended Weekend ) Which as dan said the biggest opening weekend for an indian film worldwide, For The Viewers Knowledge These Are The Official Producer Figures ( Comscore had estimates & their personal tracking data). In USA it had the 3rd biggest opening weekend ever with $9.51M in 4 Days ( USA Distributor Figures), This Film has broken more than 100+ Box Office Records in 4 days itself and is tracking to be the 3rd highest grossing indian film worldwide by the end of 2nd weekend, pushpa 2 is trending crazy in india, as we are having capacity issues as shows are going housefull and theatres are playing the film 24/7 to meet the demand.
What happened to the adjust for inflation button? Just having the adjusted figures on screen we miss the little tune! Maybe it’s just me that enjoyed that one 😂
There are some screenings for the Interstellar IMAX rerelease from where I live but the problem is that most of them are almost sold out so that sucks. Anyways I’m heading out to see Flow tonight since I’ve been hearing nothing but amazing things about it
Moana is doing really well, people are trying to compare it to Inside Out 2's numbers but they over look the fact she reached 300 million domestic and 600 million worldwide in 2 weeks! This is so huge. Anything she makes from now on is gravy.
"Bluey taking a dip" -- a random thought, the Bluey "minisodes" that have been dropping over the past two+ months are under their own tag on D+ -- so I wonder if it would matter if you added the times together as I know my kids watch them on repeat
I'm impressed Wicked is doing as well as it is, I thought the fact that it's only a Part 1 of 2 (and not advertising that well) may have hurt it a bit, but it looks like I was wrong in that assumption.
A correction, which I know you absolutely love receiving - The Rocky Horror Picture Show isn't a Broadway adaptation. The theatrical rights were bought after a producer saw a London production (not even West End) in 1973, who then staged it in 1974 in LA to get a production company interested (which worked with Fox), so the film was made in late 1974. The Broadway show opened at the same time as the film in 1975 in the hopes that one would help market the other, but the Broadway show flopped and was cancelled. Long story short - theatre adaptation yes, Broadway adaptation no. Genuinely do love the show, and I'm a massive stats nerd like you, so I've got to call out a correction when needed!
With the potential for an annual domestic top 10 where all films grossed over$ 200 million, when was the last time we had something like that happen and was it common?
It nearly happened in 2009; it actually happened in 2010 and from 2012 to 2019. We got really close in 2022 and we would actually be already there this year, if Godzilla x Kong, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Bad Boys Ride or Die had just made 6-7 more million
U can watch the first part and see if the story and vibe is something you might be interested in.. it’s very much targeted at the Indian audiences and the cultural ideas so it might be a turn off to some people.. i haven’t watched the second part yet but from what I heard from my friends it’s kinda of a let down from the first part, I will be watching it this weekend so I will see how it is.
There are so many movies besides the big movies that people should be seeing. The Order is a very good movie. Flow is a beautiful animation people should seek out.
Is it possible with awards season coming up a video reviewing the season schedule to keep us updated when awards are going to be released or nominations being announced? Thank you!!
Laufey (a Grammy winning artist) also recently released a track "Christmas Magic" that was from Red One, which is on course to be a Christmas hit in the music charts.
31:12 I have Daft Punk's Interstella 5555 on DVD, I had no idea it was rare or 'lost media'. The animation and music is great, but don't feel particularly connected, so although enjoyable, it's a somewhat odd watch.
So wild that you went on that mini diatribe about other streams for movies like Behind Enemy Lines. That was one of the first movies I remember getting my mom to rent with On Demand. It came with a free copy of Flight Simulator for some reason, which is why it sticks out. Different world
Laufey is pronounced Loy (like boy) -vey. Kind of a classic 50s jazz-pop vibe, I think you would like it, very soothing music. And definitely not niche, she is the biggest artist we have had come out of Iceland in many years.
Just to touch on a few subjects: 1) I think the big 3 all hold well this weekend as box office numbers start picking up steam headed into the Sonic 3/Mufasa Christmas takeover. Drops of 24-34% will still put Moana 2 , Wicked in the top 2 spots and Gladiator 2 probably in 4th. If I am guessing based on Monday's numbers; Moana 2 will add another 35.6 million over the weekend; Wicked- 27.5 million, and Gladiator 2- 10 million. 2) I think Sonic 3 will be huge overseas and huge domestically, but especially internationally. I saw the first Sonic in the city of Cali, Colombia, S.A., in a huge mall theater that was sold out. I remember a very happy crowd of people and the movie getting a long standing ovation at the end. 3) Interstellar should have gotten at least a 500-theater rerelease. The movie sold out all of its IMAX screens according to an article I read on one of your favorite movie info sites. This would have had a 15-20 million dollar opening at that count.
23:20 You haven't seen Spy Game ??
