Why is he saying "Father in the name of Jesus?
We believed that Jesus in the Father ...... the name of God.
He is also saying "Jesus, the Son of the living God" .... shouldn''t he be saying Jesus is God???
Jesus is the Son of the Living God, that is biblical! (Matt. 16:16) He can say both because both are true. Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God and Jesus is God. We cannot become so Apostolic that we cease to be Biblical!
Jesus said "whatever you ask the Father in my Name". He isn't saying God is two persons, he is acknowledging that the Father only acts in the Name of Jesus which is His Name!
my Q is why trouble ourselves into trying to say Father, Son and Holy Spirit when we can simply say Jesus?
Perhaps Bro Tenney just want to say it in the long form .... however I understand your point and believe the same but its just the way he was saying it may to some sound trinitarian. Thanks GB
Probably the same reason Paul addresses many of his epistles to "God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ". Even though we know it's all in Jesus, sometimes for clarity it's good to recognize all of God's roles. He is not only our savior, but also our God, Father, Creator, Holy Spirit, etc. God bless.
