For Question 20 at 45:00, you were confused that the “one” real solution is for the variable z. “b” is a constant in the equation. Given the determinant b^2 = 4(9)(64), there is also no need to multiply the numbers (since they are perfect square). You can calculate directly b = +/- 2(3)(8) = +/- 48.
To verify the “one” real solution
9z^2 + bz + 64 = 0
9z^2 +/- 48z + 64 = 0
(3z + 8)(3z + 8) = 0 [for b=8]
(3z - 8)(3z - 8) = 0 [for b=-8]
Scalar learning I saw what you did wrong for number eighteen. Extrapolate and estimate the line of best fit with a ruler. Notice how the line hits in the middle of the last square which goes from zero to eighteen. Since it hits the y-intercept at about midway you could say that it's somewhere around nine so choice C(9.4) would be a suitable approximation.
Also, I would have gotten caught too with number twenty on module two. The least possible value is the negative number. One really must look at the later questions with a fine tooth comb......
Also can you do other tests from the crash course please? I can't pay for them as I am in a foreign country without a credit card and I really appreciate what you and the Score channel are doing for us all.
