For me Sons of Winter and Stars was at the beginning too much. It has grown in me a lot. I have listened it very very much. There is so much to unpack. For middle aged metal heads like myself, it’s the accumulation of all the influences of the bands I grew up loving, Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth etc. A remarkable realisation of what metal can be. Yeah, Wintersun's Finnish Musicians (Wintersun is 100% Finnish Band) Drummer Kai Hahto replaced Jukka Nevalainen in Drums in Nightwish (also Finnish Band) on year 2015 and Bassist Jukka Koskinen replaced Marko Hietala in Nightwish on 2021 and both are permanent members of Nightwish and touring worldwide at the moment. Nightwish previous players both had to retire from Nightwish mostly because of Health issues. Wintersun is on hold as a band at the moment, both Kai and Jukka can continue to play in it as a side project as long as Nightwish remains the priority, the Wintersun founder and lead man Jari Mäenpää has not revealed his future plans of the Band yet, so remains to be seen.. VERY great and skilled musicians all of them, always enjoyed to listen to them! There is a Drumcam video in YT of this song, where you can see how Kai Hahto is slaying the Drums with Ultra Speed.
According to the Wintersun fakebook page, Jari is working on multiple albums right now so they are hardly "on hold. ALBUMS UPDATE (Oct. 5th) Album 1 70% done (currently working on) Album 2 60% done Album 3 60% done Album 4 20% done TIME II 90 % done"

Haven't seen anything related to that, but I am afraid with the Nightwish commitments they may be replaced. One good thing, Finland has a LOT of excellent metal musicians. BTW, saw something a few weeks ago, can't recall where, that Time II should be out in 2023.
Excellent reaction. The lyrics of this song are fabulous, telling a tale of a journey to fight a battle/war and all the questions and doubts that follow. Kai puts on a master class of drumming (and the other musicians are also pretty good). I am normally not a fan of growling, but the mix of clean vocals and growls Jari does in this song really fits the vibe and flow of the song. As many others have pointed out, Kai the drummer and Jukka the bass player are both part of Nightwish now. I am not sure if they will also contribute to Wintersun, but according to fakebook Jari is working on multiple new albums right now.
