Including a broken Jeep whom nobody helped get out of the dunes and a Humvee that was pulling a Dodge with the front suspension broken and digging into the sand as others just drove on past. Really just pissed me off seeing people just driving on by and even worse the people just sitting there getting a video of it.

While airing down is a must in sand or loose anything, I have never understood why people go so slow over obstacles and completely ignore momentum. i used to watch people make the same mistakes on hill climbs. I would watch the guy (always the same) who thought he would gear it low and power through it. Then the next guy that has speed (in second gear or even third) would complete the climb and the dumbfounded look on the slow and low guy s face. These folks need to be doing about 35 thats MILES per hour when they hit this loose sand. And for the morons that say "they cant there are pedestrians around" then the pedestrians need to MOVE or volunteer to dig cars stuck out.
This looks like a VERY cool beach though

1974 or '75 an Arizona girl in my high school class literally lost her head (clean off) on a beach in Sonora, Mex while standing with a crowd watching a "slingshot" tow. My two firefighter buddies saw it happen while pleading with the tow guy to wait while they cleared people back. The guy said "F*** off, I know what I'm doing!"
On a lighter note I had a good chuckle watching all these 'quipped out "fer show" rigs in the vid stuck to the gills on street pressure. Imagine me in my old stock '74 VW bus circling this circus, slow, fast, stopping, reversing, and laughing the whole time. The trick too is don't be timid letting air out. ALL the tires, ESPECIALLY the front ones. Almost any 2 wheel drive can handle what's seen here given proper tinkering.
Lastly, state secret here, if you're expecting sand bring along a roll of chicken wire for emergencies as a sand-mat. It's lightweight, easily stowable and will get you out of anything.

Extension straps should not be used as snatch straps and snatch straps should be taken off and rested for a few days after 5 to 6 consecutive pulls or they will break . Tow or snatch straps can't always do all the work . You have to also dig away excess sand from in front of the wheels and add tracks etc. each pull . This takes some strain off the strap and the pulling vehicle and reduces drag of the towed vehicle . See how much difference it made just adding two max trax under the towing vehicles wheels to give it some extra momentum forward .
A twisted strap is 10% weaker and a wet twisted strap 15% to 20 % weaker . Most snatch straps break after about 8 to 12 consecutive hard pulls . No dampener on a strap is also dangerous .

I learned not to take off which the tow rope like that, could easily snap, wouldn't want to stand nearby when that happens... Tension it a bit more slowly... truck at 6:10 forgot to put the differential lock on.... Love the truck at 8:26
