    Nice review! Have sailed on this ferry more times that I can remember, back when it sailed in the Baltic sea, and it is really a great ferry, unless the waves gets above 3-4 meters, then is gets a bit scary, different pitch/roll from a normal ferry. I see they have cramped more seats in now compared to the old setup. And we were used to go outsite all the time at full speed, but some people lost hats, etc. all the time.

    Interesting review
    The World Champion jet used to service the Danish isle of Bornholm, but had become way way to small for that route and next year the Worlds largest high speed ferry will be put into service on that route. But good to see that the old Catamaran is Holding up In Greece

Only once we discussed it, but it was decided it, none wanted it within their neighborhood. It doesn't bring as much money as one might thing. It's mostly a sport for the rich.

    This is so helpful thanks! I will be riding one of these in a couple months from Athens to Santorini and I’m really hoping it goes smoothly haha! Now I know to schedule my ride at least an hour later than the ferry is scheduled to arrive. I’d rather wait than miss my ride.

    try a company that is actually good and no these idiots . Blue star ferries , minoan lines , superfast , hellenic seaways and ANEK should be your go to . they may not have the fastest ship (hellenic seaways has some high speed boats though) but the speed of their ship ain't that bad . blue star ferries are between 23 and 28 knots while minoan is around 25 to 32 , superfast mostly 28 to 30 and ANEK is a lot wider having from 18(prevelis) to 32 . at the end of the day you will spend more time sailing but the condition of the trip and the professionalism will be a lot better .also the prices are almost doubled up on the fastest ferries

    • @ronrendon

      Idiots?? Please explain? I had a wonderful time on Sea Jets! And I used them a few times during my two week stay.

  • @megas-alexandross
    @megas-alexandross ปีที่แล้ว

    The world champion jet isn't as stable as you say, it is the fastest but not the most stable high-speed ship in Greece, that ship is Tera Jet also operated by seajets and if you wanted no delays and an organized boarding process you should check out Minoan Lines' Santorini Palace.

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Like trains, I’m skeptical about artificial distinctions between “high speed” and not. There’s a 10 knot difference, or 25% between the boats. I’m not sure they are comparable. And the Santorini palace looks good, just not comparable.

    • @megas-alexandross
      @megas-alexandross ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Travelog Well, high speed (in Greece at least) is generally considered every vessel that goes above 30 knots on a regular basis. Now, World Champion Jet and Santorini Palace both are considered high speed vessels because they exceed this limit with Santorini Palace going 37 knots and World Champion Jet going 42 so they are both considered high speed vessels and also they are registered with the H/S/C before their name that sands for High Speed Craft. I can't say the World Champion Jet is much faster than the Santorini palace at 9-10 knots but they are both considered high speed. And also they are using the same exact engine types which are also an indicator of high speeds at ferries. In my opinion, having sailed on both of these ferries Santorini Palace is generally better because it has more modern interiors and it's a lot cheaper using a Minoan Lines bonus club card ( that you can obtain for free ) and is a lot more organized and in stability World champion jet might sometimes be a little more stable due to it's speed but because they have the same hull form they are almost equal.

    I don’t care for SeaJets. Their boat to Crete from Gytheio was 6 hours. I chose a cabin. We got to Kissamos late. The cabin seem dirty even though they said they cleaned it. They do have fast boats. I took Minoan Lines from Heraklion to Piraeus. Minoan was taking all COVID forms and checking very closely our CDC Card. We had a cleaner cabin and larger. They had better customer service. Food was plentiful. This ferry had a pool and pet lounge. The pool was closed due to Covid but awesome to see.

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your experience and I'm not surprised at all, I also heard horror stories about Seajets (Lucky from One Mile at a Time had a horror from Crete as well). Perhaps I should have made it more clear that I really think the WorldChampion Jet and Power Jets are in a league of their own, and any other boat you're rolling the dice. The larger Minoan lines boats looked good, and with more time I'd love to take them. Also appreciate their taking COVID seriously and having better service.

      @@Travelog
      I had to rework my entire trip because Seajets are awful, unreliable and have no outdoor decks, which is all the fun when being on a ferry, and have a disgusting customer service, if you can even call that customer service! There's nothing but complaints about them. That's not a ferry; it's a sardine can, just like a plane. As I haven't gone to Greece since the last century, I wasn't even aware of the existence of these nightmares!
      However, I'll almost HAVE to take one of these horrible boats from Naxos to Mykonos. The choice would be between Power Jet and Worldchampion Jet. I'd rather take the earlier Power Jet, but the Worldchampion Jet is bigger, thus stabler and less prone to cancellations, or at least one would hope so... Is there really a big difference between these two?

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m so sorry to hear that! I’ve never taken the power jet, but I saw it (and filmed it) and it’s made by the same Australian company (though on paper just a tad slower). They should be interchangeable.

      Thanks for responding. I don't think they're that different, either, but given a choice, bigger is always better. Dealing with the company is a constant, unfortunately.

    The fact the Worldchampion Jet is registered in Cyprus has nothing to do with politics. It only has to do with taxes, crew contracts and so on. Everything that can save the company a few bob.

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh sure I get that, but I just find it funny that "the pride of the Greek Aegean" is flagged in Cyprus. But I also find it amusing that "Norwegian Cruise Lines" is registered in Bermuda for similar reasons.

    6:22 How, as humanity, are we to take a step forward when people still put their feet in their shoes on the seats? I have recently started to pay attention to it and unfortunately most of them are womens…

      As if shoes on the seat isn't bad enough she also has to chew like a cow . Stuff that mouth full and don't worry about closing that food intake ,baby . People will focus on the shoes . On a Swiss train I saw a conductor ask a girl to raise her shoes off the seat then placed a newspaper on the seat and asked her to keep the shoes on the newspaper . I learnt a lot on that train ride .

I also agree about the loading & unloading being a total cluster F! • @pvdppvdp6638

      Seajets is notoriously known for issues with timetables, switching ferries around on different routes and all without giving any notice. Not to mention the hours of delay on some routes. Twice a year I go island hopping in Greece for 6-7 weeks and always plan my routes as to avoid having to use a Seajets ferry.Not only for the facts mentioned but also for their ethics regarding the competition against other ferry companies. I don't want to spend money on a company that uses threads, bribes and other foul play trying to get other ferry companies out of the way to have less competition on certain routes.
