I heartily concur ! I fell in love with programs from the Golden Age of Radio back in the 80s when a local radio station broadcast a wide variety of shows for years. Thank heavens for the thousands of old radio shows we can listen to for free here at TH-cam and at other websites.
There was a rare kind of patrician magic in Gene Tierney's voice. High class in the best sense of the term -- nothing haughty, stuffy, condescending in her tone, but miraculously devoid of even the faintest hint of vulgarity. I've always felt she never received quite the amount of adulation her screen presence deserved. Davis, Hepburn, Stanwyck, Colbert, Crawford, Young -- all uniquely marvelous and indispenable to Hollywood's History, but more than any of them Gene Tierney was truly a LADY. The role of ellen seems completely alien to Tierney's personality, but maybe that's why the sheer HORROR of Ellen's true nature seems all the more shocking once it becomes nakedly apparent as the story unfolds.
Yes, I noticed that too right away. Alan Reed was a VERY active radio actor. Though of course he's best known for voicing Fred Flintstone in the classic 1960s animated TV series.
@@jubalcalif9100 Yup!. I remember SEEING him on an episode of Beverly Hillbillies. He was shorter than Buddy Ebsen but he had a strong, distinctive voice.

Cornell Wilde.... I THINK he was in the movie Harriet Craig , with Joan Crawford. I'll have to check the credits for the movie. I was wrong. The actor in that movie was Wendell Corey. OBJECTION! Mr. Quenton is badgering the witness!

In all honesty, I think Gene Tiereny should have won Best Actress Oscar for this movie over Joan Crawford. She did a better job.
