- Thinking of hiking in Sri Lanka? Horton Plains, in the Sri Lankan Highlands, is a great place to start. This 9km loop offers a relatively easy hike without compromising on the views! Horton Plains has a lovely cool climate and is home to many species that are endemic to Sri Lanka including the endangered Bear Monkey! 🐵🏞️
Just watch out for the leopards!😉

• Horton Plains National Park
📃 Park Opening Times: 6 am- 4pm (It’s recommended to arrive when the park opens to get to the viewpoint “World’s End” before the clouds roll in)
📃 Park Entrance Fees (for foreign visitors): Adult $25 / Child $15 / Vehicle $10
📃 Hike Distance: 9km (3-4 hours)
📃 Hike Difficulty: Easy-moderate, mostly flat
📃 Maximum altitude: 2300m above sea level
⚠️ No plastic allowed in the park
I missed this place in Sri Lanka, I should go on my next trip, it looks amazing

It's like heaven on the earth. You are walking through mistory clouds, frequently changing climate. Temperature is 0-17 celcius. Waterfalls , mountains , rivers, breathtaking sceneries. Mountain sambar deer, leapods....
I was lucky to stay their 1 night in the camping. You must get permission from Wildlife authority to do camping there

looks like you already left from Sri lanka. not only this place there are so many places are here like Deniyaya, Reverston, Mandaram nuwara, Moon plains and so on. when you visit again go these places

It was unforgettable! So happy we went!
I remember walking here alone when it was off season and there were like one other group in total. Even though leopards are rare I was a little bit scared all the time and kept looking around to make sure no leopard was sprinting towards me haha

Horton Plains is one of my favourite places in Sri Lanka
It's totally a different world on a less crowded day with clear sky's. You have done justice to the plains with beautiful camara work . Now you can tell the world what a lot of places and wildlife any traveller can experience in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Fun fact.. it's called the world's end because of clouds.. when you have clouds out there it feels like there is nothing beyond that edge.. which makes you wonder if it is the end of the world..

You did the right thing by turning to the right at the fork. That way your path almost abruptly ends at the worlds end giving the feeling you’ve in fact come to the world’s end. If you had taken the left turn you would’ve walked along the edge all the way and doesn’t give that sudden view. Although everyone tries to get there before the mist, the mist covering the view beneath is what gives the effect and makes it look like there is nothing beyond.

Hey , really great video . How did you guys hire the rental car? Should we book the car prior ? The rental car is for both pick up and drop off ? Any idea about the charges for the rental car ? Please don’t mind me asking so many questions.
Hi, we booked the rental car in advance from Malkey Rent a Car. Pick up is in Colombo city and they dropped us off at the airport. Their rates are good, but will depend on season etc. Hope this helps :)
