His left hand ring finger is touching the strings over the 7th fret, so when his right hand taps a note then pulls off, he's pulling off INTO a 7th fret harmonic. Then he hits the fret board with left middle finger just to make a percussive sound. This tapping->pull off harmonic->percussion 3 note pattern is then repeated with different notes. That's the basic idea.
