My cousin was killed in a car crash near ten years ago. We had made a memorial video for her using this song, I'll never forget her and every time I hear this song I think long and hard about her.
this song truly resonates that time when we were kids and we thought everything is golden and we didn't know how most of humanity really are savages.beatiful song still.
This song was played at the celebration of the passing of my niece who died at the age of 31 from breast cancer. I had never heard it before. Such a beautiful song. Such a beautiful girl who left behind an 8 month old girl who I hope when she grows up takes after her mother.
My best friend's father passed away a week ago, and when listening to this, some of this lyrics stood out... "Let us die young or let us live forever, We don't have the power, but we never say never. Sitting in a sand pit, life is a short trip...the music is for the sad men" .... "Some are like water, some are like the heat. Some are a melody, some are the beat. But sooner or later, they'll all be gone...why don't they stay young?" RIP Silvino Nunes. We love you very much
Each time i listen to this song i think of my friend, he died one week after we graduated high school he got hit by a drunk driver. The world missed out on a amazing person. RIP Fernando
since i first heard this on the oc season 3, this has been the song of my life. i only listen to it when im not in the mood for the world and it helps me wander my mind off...this is some good tune, and aint no other way am i gonna compare this to anything. brilliant lyrics, awesome group thats not sucked into the mainstream culture..what more could u ask? its real music
I love this song. It's the meaning of the song. Life's only short make the most of it!!! Love this song even since I first heard when I was 6 back in 2006
Listening to this minutes before I turn 30. I know 30 is still young, but with the new decade, it’s like I can feel the aging. And there’s no turning back time. Forever Young
This song played when we drove to the hospital when my little brother was being born so it's really special to me. I wish mum and dad paid more attention to the songs playing when I was born so I could have a song too.
Just turned 18 a few months ago.. my dream of being forever young is now done. But in my heart I will always remember what it meant to be young, to be truly free. No judgement, no hate, just pure innocence experiencing itself and the playground around them. I'll miss those days.
@@cafecommanjericao4308 Well, I just turned 27 last month. I've experienced all sorts of ups and downs over the years. Despite all that is wrong with this world, I have not let it close off what is left in my heart. I am an uncle now. My niece has been a constant reminder to keep that innocence in my heart. Being an adult is hard. But children are an awesome reminder that it wasn't always this way.
@@DonnyDealer When I turned 18, I thought the same as you that my dream of being forever young was over. But now I see that it was just beginning and I was not able to make it reach its fullness, I was letting my 20s go by without living them with all intensity, I kept repeating to myself that I was getting old and I was leaving aside my wishes because of other people's judgment. I just turned 30 ... There is a version of this song from 2006 here on TH-cam and I was only 15 and was living my best ... It is amazing how time has gone, isn't it? It is lovely to read how you write about your niece ... I hope you still feel young and make each year of your 20s seem eternal, because I was wrong not to do the same with mine.

amazing the most inspiring song eva we sing dis at skool and i almost cry. i pour my heart into every word and sing with all my soul!!! i luv it so much thumps up if u agree
i found this song on the year my brother died and till this day i cant listen to it because it makes me cry but i still listen to it to cry does that make sense??
yes cause it help....i got Songs too like that even in my car..so when i drive alone sometimes ..i dont skip some Songs...like i do when i drive not alone in my car.....then i remember my lost second son and his mother and the one or other tear fall down...it help.
I do the same,it's because of my best friend, I feel your loss brother, actually, the day I found out about my friends death, when I finally got home and fell asleep, the radio woke me up a few hours later,it was this very song...
By far my favorite version ever of this song. I found this on a video where a female motorcyclist went over a cliff, I believe..and by 'blessed serendipity,' as another youtuber put it, this man found her and got her help. Beautiful song :)
It's not actually youth group's song; dates back to the '80s. I think this version is better, but the context matters. If you listen to the first verse it goes: Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while Heaven can wait, we're only watching the skies Hoping for the best but expecting the worst Are you gonna drop the bomb or not? The very real fear at that time was that the imminent disintegration of the USSR would produce a nuclear first strike, so they were "watching the skies" expecting to see a nuclear bomb, but wondering whether the US/USSR would "drop the bomb or not." The song 99 Luftbalons, incidentally, is about a couple who accidentally provokes that same nuclear first strike when they release a bundle of 99 helium balloons that Soviet Air Defense mistakes for an ICBM, lol.
Sorry G, still off by about 150 years; Dylan may have updated the language, but I'm pretty sure he cribbed the whole thing off Isaac Watts, greatest hynodist of the eighteenth century. Shows what YOU know. Which is apparently substantially more than me.
+G Slawter total wrong...bob's song got nothing to do with this song......for ever Young is a song from 1984 , from the band alphaville....bob dyllans song got the same titel, but is a total other song.so it is a 80's song.
SAKO TRG! this song is a very emotional song at times even when you are still young! i once cried when i was like 13 cause i was scared and knew i never will
my all time fave version ever! and my all time fave song ever! a lot better than alphavilles, this one it kinds soul stirring bittersweet. evokes an emotion
Don't care what anyone says, this is the best version of the Song.
My grandfather died 9 years ago. They played this at his funeral and to this day this song still gives me chills.

hear hear
It's especially prophetic for me as I was my final year of school
I'm technically still a child and I know how terrible humanity is. Enlightenment at such a young age.
My dad because of kidney failure. They played this at his funeral he died at 2014. I miss him everyday. I would do anything for him back

Hate to break it to you, but this is a folk song by a guy you might of heard of, Bob Dylan? and it was written in 1973.. Certainly not an 80's song!
