    Ooo perfect timing. I just had a test run of Frigate last week, detection and recording work great with OpenVINO and Intel iGPU. Might do the actual install and Home Assistant integration this weekend. Fun!

      But for this use-case there's nothing remotely close when factoring in cost. If it's just for Frigate there's zero need for anything more. If you're planning on doing something with LLMs then obviously get something else.

      No. Need a beefy GPU for that. These TPUs have barely any memory.

      not enough onboard memory to be useful for llm or image (cannot hold the models). these are for streaming data into it and processing it

      detecting stuff, like when someone enters or leaves a room or if there's movement in the yard. Can be quite useful, especially if you have small children in the house or random people wandering onto your property

      @@FlyboyHelosim well, you and I maybe don't have a use for such things, but others do. To answer your question, though, there's a difference between a motion detector and a system that can tell you whether it's your baby that just climbed the toddler fence or your cat 🤷

    I bought the same Dual TPU only to find out that there are different types of nVME slots for different types of hardware. :D I feel more stupid than you. (XD jokingly)
    I have an ASUS PCIe card with 4 nVME slots in my server, which I normally utilize for SSDs, and I thought the TPU would just work there. But apparently I didn't do enough research. hahah
    I then ordered both a USB version, and this exact adaptor, and thanks to the plugin it works just fine.
    I will use the USB version for some friend if anyone wants a frigate setup with a raspberry pi or something.

    Just for knowledge, Frigate is pronounced like the warships. Not free gate. Frigate's icon is the frigatebird (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frigatebird) a seabird found around the world. Hope that helps.
