But for this use-case there's nothing remotely close when factoring in cost. If it's just for Frigate there's zero need for anything more. If you're planning on doing something with LLMs then obviously get something else.

I need something like that to run videos through to monitor actions and add boxes to say record every floor where it only records when people touch a button to call an elevator
detecting stuff, like when someone enters or leaves a room or if there's movement in the yard. Can be quite useful, especially if you have small children in the house or random people wandering onto your property

(XD jokingly) I have an ASUS PCIe card with 4 nVME slots in my server, which I normally utilize for SSDs, and I thought the TPU would just work there. But apparently I didn't do enough research. hahah I then ordered both a USB version, and this exact adaptor, and thanks to the plugin it works just fine. I will use the USB version for some friend if anyone wants a frigate setup with a raspberry pi or something.

not enough onboard memory to be useful for llm or image (cannot hold the models). these are for streaming data into it and processing it
