I had my crap together and special ordered my Fatboy because the HD Dealer had no Fatboys period. When it finally arrived I was shocked as was the HD dealership when it was uncrated. This was the first yr of the 103 ci, and 6 speed tranny, the frame had been stretched wide to accommodate a 200 mm. Rear tire and the front was fat as well accenting those bullet hole solid blacked out wheels. Yes this was the 2012 Fatboy Lo, I’ve long since burned the note on this beauty . And a beauty it is !

No. . .mufflers and tips are different; but from the exhaust manifolds (@ the engine) to the muffler connections the pipes are stock. Only Fat Boys had this style of pipes
Is this why old Harley Davidsons don’t last long, because the idle isn’t turned up fast enough to circulate the oil? I always wondered why they can’t go many miles.
A misconception. The Evolution engine that's in this bike is just about bulletproof in stock form. It actually had a BIG hand in rescuing the company when it was introduced after Willie G. Davidson bought the company back. Lousy durability came way more from the previous Shovelhead engines produced while Harley was owned by AMF until the early 80s, but even those can be rebuilt to be just as long lived as any japanese bike. My Evo engine died at 67,000 miles but it had been messed with by the previous owner. Poor quality aftermarket parts including pistons (which is what failed on mine) But I agree, the idle NEEDS to be turned up to about 900rpm.

Just sold both my twin Cams and bough a 98 FLSTF I can work on like my 72 FLH without the computer BS.
