Winter I just have to tell you you are my favorite SC commentator ever and I'm old enough that I peaked when reaver drop rushes were meta. You have such a sharp ability to be clever and spontaneous without totally fumbling or missing, but that's just the icing on a deep technical understanding of the game that doesn't come across laborious and distracting. Really refreshing to see these new maps. Very colorful it seems. Those autumn color trees in atleast couple of them. And the underwater map was great lookin also.
These aren’t new maps they are 5 years plus old. 😂 they just brought them back because no one at blizzard is likely able to create new maps that won’t tilt people.

9:23 insane how Hero lost the intial engagement. 360 surround, even upgrades, shield battery overcharge active whole time and guardian shield and losses.
In another game, toss had archons, immortals, guardian shield, stalker with blink, and zealot with charge. Lost to marauder with conc, marine with shield stim, medivac. No ghosts needed. Bio DPS is too high imo. It shouldn't be beating a more expensive army with more advanced units. They were both at 50 supply of fighting units, yet the player with prism, archons, immortals, zealot, stalker, sentry, lost to marine marauder medivac. 6 types of units, that require much more tech, vs 3 units. Kinda wild this is allowed.
Probably too early to feel the full change but this was a pretty good match to showcase some key points. The new map pool looks cool too. And thanks to StarCrafts, the probe beating up the SCV at the start of season 6 felt like how the Goldenaura game started.

I've seen SO many games in the last few months where the Protoss simply never builds or even attempts to build Colossi into big bio-ball comps (both T and Z) and it just makes me feel like they should really do something to make Colossi more functional. THey're supposed to be the "anti-mass" unit...
3 do eradicate light, I've seen 7 or five of them more effective against roach, but their splash top out at some poont, and it makes moor sense to joost vomtinually warp in stlk to tank. You lottle fucks have been bullying the Terrans again haven'cheew? Hint: Immortal looking op again...

hey winter, watched your entire balance patch video, including your strong opinions at the end and i totally agree with you. i personally think the cyclone rework wasn’t necessary due to them always tinkering the damn unit. me personally i would love to see more pro terrans using siege tanks in the meta because how fun the unit is. the focus on widow mines and them being basically the only unit that can one shot workers due to the baneling nerf, makes the game in my diamond experience not so fun. with protoss, the upgrade time and guardian shield and even the disruptor model size were not game changing at all. i would love to see a new take on protoss, like a blink stalker buff or even an oracle buff to award high micro protoss players. it was unfortunate they removed the charge damage on the zealots. anyways i love you winter ! thank you for always making my day with your daily uploads and adding your comical energy with every cast, there’s no other commentator like you !
i actually want the old cyclone back. The new one is easier to mass and easier to A-move but the old one had more range and had a great role as anti-air. With proper lock-on usage it could even outrange tempests and Broodlords. Now it's just a weird all rounder instead of a specialist. Also I wish colossi damage was changed back to more all-round instead of only good vs light.
@@chloesmith4065 i liked the midgame hellclone “meta” (meta in quotations because a lot of pro level terrans just go to bio) before they nerfed magfield accelerator bonus damage to armored. the hellclone vs roach/ravager were my favorite games to watch because how different the play style is versus bio. don’t get me wrong i love watching byun’s 5 drugged up humans with guns gunning down 10 banelings and load into medivacs shortly after but mech was such an enjoyable match to watch, mid and late game. watching the hellclones dart around the map, reducing creep, hunting down ov’s or gunning down queens and roaches on their way out was just so unique. anyways i believe the “rework” of the cyclone forced the unit to become an early game unit, like winter says, it’s an expensive marauder. now we rarely see any mech games most definitely because of the hellchad nerf. in my opinion (i’m a diamond zerg so i know it doesn’t have a lot of weight to it) buff siege tanks, bring back hellchads, fuck all the changes they keep doing to the cyclone and replace the unit with the god damn goliath already, remove widow mines and most definitely buff the floating laser bathtub (joking, kinda). honestly as daily starcraft 2 viewer (i can only watch winter, i find no other caster to have an interesting but hilarious dry humor), i would like to see pro terrans experiment with other unit compositions, other than bio with ghosts. i completely understand this is the meta and it’s going to give the best chance to win games with thousands of dollars on the line but entertainment wise, it gets pretty repetitive. winter is the only person that can cast this game in the most fun and comical way to make me keep coming back to watch and play the game myself.

If you look at all the leagues you find out it's actually protoss that have the higher winrate. For example EU gm league it's only 45% winrate for the terran, similar holds true for other leagues as well. The tippity top of the terran player base (+- 10 people) are the only ones with favourable winrate against p
@@_Libo_ Ladder play is where Protoss can shine as Winter has said many times. Protoss excel in best of 1s or best of 3s tops where they can have enough unexpected builds/surprises to catch their opponent offguard and sneak away with a win through trickery. However, where it matters, in professional tournaments, Protoss players don't have enough tricks and get stomped by players that know what to expect. It's a huge problem currently vs. Terran because the terran army just flatens protoss ones in the midgame with barely any effort as the DPS of Bio is just too high once you effectively halve the HP of the protoss via EMP and leave them completely dependent upon disruptors to create enough space to not die immediately. Frankly I vote buff the armour on all protoss units by 1. I think that would give enough beef to the protoss army that they can throw down better vs. Bio without harming their overall status vs. their usual counters in ZvP.
Yeah, that's the danger with small sample size in statistics, it doesn't give you the whole picture, easily gives you a biased view of the balance thing.
@@ericmartin2740 I agree with the issue at the top level, but the ladder statistics is the reason why I am against big flat out buffs for protoss, since it would skew the already protoss favoured ladder even more. Personally, I am a player in the first place and spectator in the second. I think the best solution involves changing the disruptor to do more consistent but less punishing damage. It barely kills anything vs byun or clem while they delete whole armies below professional level. Change it so it's more consistent across leagues and if the problem persists, then we can talk about more changes (ideally those that give protoss more micro potential, not raw buffs).
I am personally lobbying to delete clones, dorm fridges that flip foaming cups of beer at the enemy, bring back GoliathS, whom even your mothers love, and make them can jump up cliffs, eh? Epic!
Well when cyclones aren't getting 2x damage they don't seem too bad. At least they can be someone held up against w/ great blink micro and they don't stand up in a strait up fight if you don't micro them in turn. I am curious how that last fight would have gone if GuMiho had tried to pull them back after the stalkers blinked in and tried to edge range them. And we didn't really get into any late game comps in this series to see how they fare there..

I’m enjoying the cyclone but would prefer it be to able to get the armor we keep losing despite the hp. Basically if you do 1 base reaper opener into battle mech it works fine. If you also just build cyclone and Viking /w Mines it’s pretty nasty and fast very fast

Howzat bud, why is the ranking so weird now? I play the 4x4 and have achieved Master a couple of times. If you right click on a player and check his ranking, he is master, but in game he is bronze!? Only happened this season. I struggle to get out of gold now...Haven't played gold in years...
Proposed terran fix to make it so it's not impossible to base trade a terran, or they can't just float one building while they're losing like a crying kid going home with his ball to draw the game. Buildings have a certain amount of fuel (energy) so they can move, but can't just forever live in the sky or cross the whole map. Seems like a pretty sensible change and I honestly can't believe it wasn't the initial design. Float to a corner cause you're losing? That shit's coming down unless you park it on land again.
Autoattack is actually more (6, up from 5). But lock-on range was significantly reduced. I think it's 7 to cast the lock on and it will stay locked in until range 9. I honestly preferred the specialist 14 range or w/e it was before... easier to use it as an anti-air opener.
I think Gumiho made a big mistake in first two games by using Cyclones as if they were pre-patch. Cyclones now are no longer hard-to-make expensive snipers that you can make 1-2 early game for support. It is now a cheap, quick-to-produce unit that is suppose to overwhelm enemy with big numbers, not to support. This old mentality played a role in him lossing first two games,
Hero miss clicked his recall. But “Terran op” hue hue. That game was a Toss win until Hero blew it himself. If you make a massive mistake you deserve to lose. But my fav race should win despite me fucking up! 😂
development history of EMP is like: -high templars have feedback? what if terrans also had feedback? because terran needs to be able to do everything -oh we're also making EMP an area-of-effect feedback that doesn't need to target specific unit -and it does 100 shield damage instantly, making protoss (vs terran) the only race without meaningful healing because stim bio doesn't have enough DPS I guess? -and it reveals cloaked units because having orbital scans be constant, global vision and detection wasn't good enough I guess? -terran players are not using EMP enough because basic MMM army is already good enough? Time to introduce EMP upgrade with no nerf to bio -people really don't like making a fundamentally broken spell even more broken? Pretend to nerf it by making the upgrade free and built-in -still too broken? Alright, we can go back to before people found out how broken EMPs are but not without using the reversion to justify other insane terran buffs, of course
Just a thought. Perhaps instead of a best of, maybe just everal games from various players that showcase some good examples of changes in the new patch.
Protoss has no door. Terran has a depot they can raise or lower, or buildings they can lift off. Protoss has to make a wall with one open square and keep a zealot or adept in the gap to block lings from coming through. One of Protoss main weaknesses against zerg is if they don't have a wall and a way to block off zerg units from getting past it, they lose engagements. This is why the sentry has forcefield, and why nydus worms cheeses work best in ZvP (to get around the wall).
I feel like they changed the cyclone to be like a mech marine. Especially with the speed upgrade that's basically like stim. I guess they want to make terran play very similar regardless of being mech or bio.
It's making then look strong because terrans are trying mech vs toss lol. Zerg and terran dominance shall continue in iem and gsl. Toss know their place.

well in the initial engagement all the collosi were targeting the siege tanks and not the marines. So the bio army just ranover the toss

Colossi blow chunks. They needed a buff to compensate for the disruptor supply nerf. Or just revert the disruptor supply change.

Howzat bud, why is the ranking so weird now? I play the 4x4 and have achieved Master a couple of times. If you right click on a player and check his ranking, he is master, but in game he is bronze!? Only happened this season. I struggle to get out of gold now...Haven't played gold in years...

Proposed terran fix to make it so it's not impossible to base trade a terran, or they can't just float one building while they're losing like a crying kid going home with his ball to draw the game. Buildings have a certain amount of fuel (energy) so they can move, but can't just forever live in the sky or cross the whole map. Seems like a pretty sensible change and I honestly can't believe it wasn't the initial design. Float to a corner cause you're losing? That shit's coming down unless you park it on land again.

Cyclone range has been nerfed, right?
Autoattack is actually more (6, up from 5). But lock-on range was significantly reduced. I think it's 7 to cast the lock on and it will stay locked in until range 9. I honestly preferred the specialist 14 range or w/e it was before... easier to use it as an anti-air opener.

I think Gumiho made a big mistake in first two games by using Cyclones as if they were pre-patch.
Cyclones now are no longer hard-to-make expensive snipers that you can make 1-2 early game for support. It is now a cheap, quick-to-produce unit that is suppose to overwhelm enemy with big numbers, not to support.
This old mentality played a role in him lossing first two games,

development history of EMP is like:
-high templars have feedback? what if terrans also had feedback? because terran needs to be able to do everything
-oh we're also making EMP an area-of-effect feedback that doesn't need to target specific unit
-and it does 100 shield damage instantly, making protoss (vs terran) the only race without meaningful healing because stim bio doesn't have enough DPS I guess?
-and it reveals cloaked units because having orbital scans be constant, global vision and detection wasn't good enough I guess?
-terran players are not using EMP enough because basic MMM army is already good enough? Time to introduce EMP upgrade with no nerf to bio
-people really don't like making a fundamentally broken spell even more broken? Pretend to nerf it by making the upgrade free and built-in
-still too broken? Alright, we can go back to before people found out how broken EMPs are but not without using the reversion to justify other insane terran buffs, of course

Protoss has no door. Terran has a depot they can raise or lower, or buildings they can lift off. Protoss has to make a wall with one open square and keep a zealot or adept in the gap to block lings from coming through. One of Protoss main weaknesses against zerg is if they don't have a wall and a way to block off zerg units from getting past it, they lose engagements. This is why the sentry has forcefield, and why nydus worms cheeses work best in ZvP (to get around the wall).

I feel like they changed the cyclone to be like a mech marine. Especially with the speed upgrade that's basically like stim.
I guess they want to make terran play very similar regardless of being mech or bio.
Cyclone is more expensive, not slowing, non healable marauder that can shoot up

New patch is making Protoss look strong! Glad to see the council got its mission right! With the new patch and games like this Toss is gonna DOMINATE.
It's making then look strong because terrans are trying mech vs toss lol. Zerg and terran dominance shall continue in iem and gsl. Toss know their place.
