    I found it interesting that Ransik is just as much a father as he is a criminal when he encountered Wes' dad. He sounded downright put off when he thought Wes was thrown out of his father's life. And given that we know Ransik's love for his child was stronger than his hate for humanity, it makes some sense that even he'd think a father rejecting his son is messed up.
    Considering that mutants are the result of genetic experiments, it can be assumed that they're humans with severely damaged DNA and possibly predisposed to violence because of how many mistakes were made in the process of creating perfect designer babies.

      A lot of this makes sense when you realise that the Mutants are deliberately written to be pseudo sympathetic (Venomark and Vexicon not withstanding). The year 3000 is written to be socially and systemically racist ala 1960's America in the typical PG-13 way and it's heavily implied that most Mutants are only evil since they need to survive. Notacon is obviously the biggest example of this; steals a watermelon to live and is thrown in the same prison as a KKK-like venomous abomination and Brickneck the hit-man. I'd say I was reading way too far into this but Marchand has confirmed that the writing staff wanted this to be the very deliberate subtext.

      @@luisumana1238 this pre-Disney crap gets even weirder. The romance between Jen and Wes? Almost didn't happen due to Tzachor's policy of no explicit romance since he felt children would be bored to years. This dumb as fuck rule was why Tommy and Kimberly's romance was rarely mentioned and why Jake and Gia's romance can barely be considered a footnote. For Time Force, he just said "fuck it, why not" and allowed it for once. Fun fact, after Lynn and Marchand left post-Time Force, he hired Tarou Sakamoto (no apparent relation to Koichi from what I can tell, they're both just Japanese) to more faithfully adapt Gaoranger for Wild Force. It's the reason why that one guy directed two thirds of Wild Force. Even odder. Jessica Rey\Alyssa initially thought that she was being hired for just a walk-on role in a nothing episode and that was it. She was very confused when she was asked back for a third audition. And a lot of these actors I notice were long term fans of the show. Philip Jeanmarie\Max, Copon, and Aljin Abella\Theo all grew up watching it. Small world. Another fun fact; the Clock Tower, Cryo Prison and Animarium were all designed by the same woman Julie Bolder who also found much of the crap used on the sets. Apparently, Wild Force was also rushed through development which is why so much felt rushed. Why was it rushed? My guess is that this was around the time that Saban and Disney were negotiating and they needed a season to broadcast on Jetix\Disney XD. How they got onto the Animarium was also intentionally vague and Tzachor told anyone who asked that it was magic and the same reasoning was used for that pool they used to see Orgs. This show's production is oddly more interesting than the show at times.

    You question how Alex is bad at leading the team. You have to remember that Jen and the others were NOT rangers at that time. Alex was the only Power Ranger in the future. So Alex was more like their commander giving orders and Jen was the leader. Alex wasn't their Red Ranger leader. He was simply their commander in cheif. You know this because Jen hands the others morphers once in the year 2001 But since they were not previously rangers theirs had to be unlocked by the red rangers. That's why Alex isn't a good ranger leader. In the future He never lead a ranger team, he was a loan power ranger. Wes became a leader after trail and error. Wes was also friendly and listened to what the others said. where Alex used to doing things alone saw them only as back up support. Subordinates who should only speak when spoken to.

    • @TheDisneyBrain
      @TheDisneyBrain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      A very good point, but it still doesn't change how odd it was that he seemed like a completely different person when he came back versus when he started. The others should know exactly how he acts but they treated him more like a foreigner than anything. And in episode 2, that same team seemed excited by the idea of seeing an Alex look a like, so clearly he did something right leadership wise before almost dying.

    • @aliastheabnormal

      Before i found out about the sentai and poor writing i simply blamed it on cosmic retcon. The temporal changes that revived Alex also changed his personality and the other rangers didn't know because they were retcon proofed as shown when Katie went to the wild west and changed history.

      Plus, you also have to remember that they hinted at some of their actions possibly affecting the future timeline. Their actions in the present may have affected Alex, to where not only does he not die to Ransik, but he also gets a personality shift.

    I just started watching MMPR on Netflix out of curiosity about 6 months ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since then I've been watching Linkara AT4W's recap/reviews and I ended up having to stop the Time Force one part way through because I was getting so invested in the recap I had to watch it for myself, and dang. That was a seminal season. Everything feels like a cut above for Power Rangers, the acting especially. But the suits, the storylines, the level of physical violence, the character dynamics, it all just works so well. It's by no means perfect, but it just feels like Power Rangers elevated to a higher standard. WhenI got to the episode Jen's Revenge, I knew I'd keep watching. I love that the Pink Ranger is the leader of the team instead of Red, and she is a legitimately good leader. And the fact that she has the strongest motivation to complete their task adds to her ability to bolster her team and protect them at all costs, even if it means putting herself in danger to keep them safe. She is definitely a contender for my top 10 female characters of all time.

    A lot of the time travel inconsistencies and the year 3000 thing is actually based off the sentai Timeranger. Timeranger was released in 2000 and Alex was a jerk because his counterpart Captain Ryouma was the main villain who masterminded Ransik's counterpart escape to manipulate the timestream so he wouldn't die at the expense of destroying all of Japan. Timeranger had even more emphasis on its destiny theme since time travel was so heavily studied that society was considered preordained and that nothing could be done to change it.

    • @Rychlewicz
      @Rychlewicz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Also, Timeranger is one of few seasons which ended on bittersweet note. Red and Pink will never see each other again, Green lives in Future as last remaining example of his species, Blue will die because of Cancer within the year and Yellow will live knowing he will never meet his own son.

    • @TheDisneyBrain
      @TheDisneyBrain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I figured as much, but my point about the year 3000 was more about that beyond adaptation, nothing really binds them to that year specifically. And almost one thousand years in the future? Seems like way more would have changed to the point of barely recognizing what we would see as almost current humanity.

    • @aliastheabnormal
      @aliastheabnormal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Not really, i believe it's more about human concepts. Twenty years ago humanity would have never conceived iPods so i'm guessing that the "Year 3000" is the future as humanity in the year 2000 could comprehend it. Basically 3000 was a random number the Japanese writers thought would be cool and symbolic. They could have used any year and gotten away with it

    • @aliastheabnormal
      @aliastheabnormal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Actually Ransik does have a Japanese counterpart. Kind off... The fat toad guy that serves as comic relief and has a crush on Nadira. His name in Japan is Don Dolnero and he has most of Ransik's story but he gets upstaged by Ryoma who is Alex's Japanese counterpart at the end.

    I personally think that Alex is 'Time Anomaly' so to speak, The brief view we get of him in the opening he never comes off as much of an asshole that he does later on. By this point they've already been talking about how the future is actively changing, with at least one event with that machine of Wes' father being the one that tips them off that the stuff they are doing now is having effects on the future. While never really explained, it seems to me that it makes more sense that This Alex is alive due to something in the past changing some element in the future. This gets into the butterfly effect of how even small things can have bigger effects never imaged. This Alex that lived, is either harsher in general or becomes that way because he sees how things are being changed (Time Force seems like they actively monitor this stuff), so he tries to help his team but also get things resolved before they do even more damage... Till he has enough and decided he needs to do it himself.
    Also, for as much of an asshole that Alex is, wow, is his Sentai counterpart /even worse/. Alex is a tame puppy dog compared to Ryuya.

      Like Alex is still a good guy at heart, basically an anti-hero; he wants the best for everyone and the future. Ryuya manipulates everything behind the scenes because he seen a vision of his own death and is trying to make a 'better future' where he doesn't die.

    Hey Disney Brain, I honestly wish that besides the 2017 Power Rangers movie, that they portray a ranger that has ASD. I honestly believe that a good storyline for said character would be showing his/her struggle to make friends, his schedule habits, and the stimulus overload that may overwhelm him/her with their ranger duties. The ending for that would show us the progress he's made mentally and how much they mature over the course of the season to the finale.

Wouldn't it be amazing if they had an episode where the monster's power can be beaten if his victim has direct experience of being evil and the Rangers have to get the reformed bad guys to sub for them in order to beat him!

    A couple of points that I might add to your analysis of time force.
    1. The cyclobots were actually time force property that was hacked by Frax to be their own personal army. Which might explain why they were able to capture almost every single mutant with only one ranger active.
    2. Your point about the cryogenic containment is good but it’s plausible the mutants were cryogenically frozen because they were so much more dangerous than any human. Besides I believe it’s stated in the first episode that the length of cryogenic containment has limitations based on what crime you committed similar to jail sentences. In that respect, the x-vault would’ve been the maximum-security-life-without-parole punishment.

    Trip, like the Mirinoyans from Wild Force are aliens on technicality. They're humans, humans who were transplanted to other worlds and developed differently. As Andros, the elf-looking dude with telekinesis, said in In Space "Earth isn't the only place where Humans live."

    This video is exactly how I feel about Time Force it's a great season the themes are super cool and how everybody progresses differently and the way certain characters develop even though this season did not have the characters develop as well as lost galaxy did it was still a great season to see how Jen went from by the book we have to be stronger to more light-hearted and being in love with Wes the only issue I personally have for this season is the end seriously kiss dammit Kiss why don't you kiss her??? However there is one thing in this video I noticed and you mentioned nothing about circuit circuit was a key part of that team because he helped to summon the Zords and keep in contact with the future yet you mentioned nothing about him I am curious to hear your take on this Robo owl that would have been interesting to hear but other than that great video thank you for summing up Time Force in a way that all fans can agree on

      Weird fun fact; the romance between Jen and Wes almost didn't exist. Up until Time Force, the producers (namely Tzachor unsurprisingly) ordered either extremely subtle romantic relations or none whatsoever since they thought it would bore children to death. It's both why Tommy and Kimberly's relationship rarely developed past the occasional mention after "The Green Candle-part II" and why Jake and Gia's romance in Megaforce also never went anywhere beyond them holding hands during the finale. Tzachor had absolute control over Megaforce since he basically shut head writer James Bates out of the writing room as he was bitter over his ideas for Samurai being rejected. THAT is why so much of Super Megaforce was reused and wank. And yet for Time Force, for whatever reason, Tzachor said "fuck it, why not?" and allowed romance this one time which led to perhaps the most popular pairing in the show's history. Sad that this is quite honestly the only good thing he's ever done for the show.

    As much as I love to sing Power Rangers Time Force's praises, I seriously owe it to myself to watch and rewatch this season with more open eyes, a more open mind, and a more open heart. I would forgive Time Force's issues because the story is strong even in the less-than-stellar moments, the characters have deep motivations, and there are a multitude of possibilities that would make me thoroughly invested in Time Force as a whole.
    Maybe it might also be just me, but, despite the frosty reception Alex Drake tends to receive, I think it would have been great to also have him as the seventh member of the Time Force Power Rangers as the Crimson Time Force. Yes, he would be more of an anti-hero as Eric is, but I could also see an interesting dynamic between Eric and Alex in terms of how they view the law and their stances on justice. Eric and Alex may butt heads and get themselves into physical altercations on multiple occasions much to Wes's dismay, Jen's annoyance, and Katie's, Lucas's, and Trip's collective dismay and annoyance. Nevertheless, Eric and Alex would respect each other, thus seeing each other as equals and the firmest of comrades, which is also something that would make Wes just as happy when they are getting along.

    I would argue that alex was a terrible leader when he took back command of the rangers because he wasnt used to working in a team. If you look back to the pilot, Alex is the only one we see as a ranger. So it is safe to say he is used to working solo despite having back up. However, there is a difference between reinforcements and teamates.

    Hey Disney Brain could you do a video on the destruction of the Zords on all the power ranger team, those are some of my personal favorite moments.

    • @TheDisneyBrain
      @TheDisneyBrain  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how I would frame that into a video discussion. For example, the auxiliary Megazords getting destroyed in Lost Galaxy was a part of Trakeena's descent into madness, but then it would just be more relevant to discuss Trakeena herself. The thing about Zords is with the exception of a couple of seasons, they are a part of the story, but never a driver of the narrative. The Wildzords are probably the biggest exception, but the save the environment narrative gets a little wonky when Wild Force unveils its full story.

Like keep him being the one to send the TimeShadow and stuff but have that be him before he died, so in the future where the other timerangers are from he knows that they eventually go back in time and prefer Wes as a leader, explaining why he was such a dick in the future

  • @quaylehak26
    @quaylehak26 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Time can be a tricky thing when it comes to time travel. Just going back to the past where you where never born or or parents were never born you risk changing the future that you came from. Yes Alex did die in the year 3000, but when Jen, Katie, Lucas, and Trip went back to 2001 could of cause Ranisk not killing Alex, since Ranisk went back to 2001 it would of been as if Ransik was never around in the year 3000. If Alex being Wes decedent is not impossible. Wes was living in the year 2001. When you have kids, your kids will have kids and their kids will have kids. Since the year 2001 comes before 3000 then it would make since that Alex is a decedent to Wes. Sorry I tried my best to explain what I want to say. Talking about time as in time travel and try to figure out which is the past, present, and/or future is really hard to do.

    • @TheDisneyBrain
      @TheDisneyBrain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I get what you're saying, but the thing about time travel is you don't risk changing anything that you know if you go back to the past. The change just creates another branch in time for the time you're in to follow; a parallel/alternate time line. Otherwise, we'd see a lot more changes to the future since Bio-Lab shouldn't have half the stuff they now have. Time Force, unlike Back To the Future for example, operates under the assumption of multiverse, so they can do what they want and still go back to the home they know because it's one of infinite possibilities. They just happen to know which one of the infinite possibilities it is. And we'll call it dimension banana!
      And my point about Wes and Alex was more of a meta joke, because their genetics are impossible since Jason Faunt plays them both, lol. But it terms of the show itself, it sort of makes sense, but just barely, since Alex would have a numerous amount of descendants just like Wes over their thousand year difference, so coding his DNA into the morpher activation seems a little questionable in terms of function.

    I believe the Mutant thing is less a racism thing, with Ransik being a mutant supremacist, its likely less that only Mutants are criminals in the year 3000 as the Cyro prison was specifically targetted BECAUSE it carries all the mutants. And it probbably carried them more because of how dangerous a Mutant CAN be a la supermax. After all, even the nice Mutants tend to be powerful enough that if they said "I dont like this cement wall", well, that's that, they are out of jail.

    The man Vernon as Ransik was boss tier. His delivery was better than a doctor bringing a child into the world. Southworth running Eric was epic. The Lightspeed episode made me warm just by seeing my heroes a second time... I mean yeah we had Vypra... but we all enjoyed The Room so yeah
