Exam notification clearly mentions a bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering is essential to apply. BSc microbiology does include some zoology subjects hence eligibility criteria is fulfilled.

i gave my 1st attempt way back in 2014. can we check our number of attempts in IFoS??. It may sound silly but i have forgotten whether in my 1st attempt of civil services i opted for IFoS also. It has gone completely out of my memory. I have 2 attempts left for IAS exam but i have forgotten what i filled in my form related to IFoS in my 1st attempt. 2nd attempt se to mujhe yaad h ki maine nahi bhara h IFoS ka but 1st ka dhyan nahi. Yes, both of the exams are conducted differently. Only Prelims is common, but even in that case; different cut-offs for each of them. Difference between Civil Services Examination (CSE) and Indian Forest Service (IFoS) Examination: CSE is conducted for All-India Services (IAS, IPS) and central services like IFS, IRS(IT), IRTS…..etc while IFoS is conducted for Indian Forest Service only. Eligibility: CSE-Any graduate; IFoS-Only science and engineering graduates are eligible. Prelims: Preliminary examination is common for both the CSE and IFoS. Hence, History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Art & Culture, Environment, Science and current affairs are asked in the exam. Since merging of IFoS prelims with CSE prelims, a significantly more number of environment questions is asked. CSE Mains: Essay+4 GS Papers + 2 Papers Optional= 7 Papers =1750 Marks. Here the list of optional subjects is many. In addition to above, one need to qualify in compulsory English and one of the languages in the mentioned in the Eighth Schedule. IFoS Mains: Here 2 science optional need to be chosen from list given by UPSC. Hence, choice of optional is less. Each will have 2 papers of 200 marks. In addition to above, 300 marks English paper and 300 marks General Knowledge paper is there. Mains weightage is thus 1400 marks. Personality Test: In case of CSE, maximum marks allotted is 275. @Manoj Rishi sir ne bataya toh hai video me ki mock tests dekar idea lagao ki when do you perfom better?, kam questions attempt karke ya fir jyada questions attempt karke. And for IFoS, cut off aur jyada jata hai toh normally you have to attend more questions. Also, you can not leave any portion that comes in prelims, e.g. Art and Culture etc.
Candidates must be physically fir atcording to physical standards as per regulations given in Appendix 3 of the rules for the Indian Forest Service Examination published in Gazette of India. The rules state that the minimum height should be 163 cm for men and 150 cm for women.
Can't say exactly. Because one needs more marks in Prelims to be eligible for IFoS Mains. But IFoS syllabus is not that wide when it comes to the Mains examination.

If you really are interested in Botany and are ready to spend many hours to study the subject, you won't regret taking Botany as an optional. And that's the case with all other optional subjects as well.
Bilkul possible hai. I have friends in the service who are from Hindi Medium background. Mai bhi 12th tak Hindi Medium me hi padha and later went to BITS Pilani. Transition was difficult in the beginning, but it definitely is not that difficult either. So, all the best!

Hindi medium me padhai karne se aisa nahi hai ki aap eligible nahi hain. Aap abhi bhi eligible hain, lekin exams English me dena hoga. If you really want the service, you must work hard. And, don't forget that there always are many important things to do in life. So keep working hard :)
There is no such written rule that doesn't allow aspirants with tattoos to appear for IFoS entrance. At max, it might be a little difficult to put your case before the interview board in the final stage of selection process. Also, as the interview makes up relatively smaller component in the overall marking scheme, you shouldn't worry much abouth that.

If you really are interested in Botany and are ready to spend many hours to study the subject, you won't regret taking Botany as an optional. And that's the case with all other optional subjects as well.

Bilkul possible hai. I have friends in the service who are from Hindi Medium background.
Mai bhi 12th tak Hindi Medium me hi padha and later went to BITS Pilani. Transition was difficult in the beginning, but it definitely is not that difficult either. So, all the best!

Hindi medium me padhai karne se aisa nahi hai ki aap eligible nahi hain. Aap abhi bhi eligible hain, lekin exams English me dena hoga. If you really want the service, you must work hard.

Hi! I would love to know if people with tattoos can appear for this exam and work in this field.
There is no such written rule that doesn't allow aspirants with tattoos to appear for IFoS entrance. At max, it might be a little difficult to put your case before the interview board in the final stage of selection process. Also, as the interview makes up relatively smaller component in the overall marking scheme, you shouldn't worry much abouth that.
