One of the guys who taught me to play had a sister (deceased) whose favorite song was Golden Slippers. He's an amazing musician and I know he must play the Hell out of this song--but he won't ever play it.
A HUGE Thank you! The night before, I received an email of the song list that our band is to play at a Benefit (Cancer) Concert this evening and "Golden Slippers" was one of the tunes included that I'm not at all fimiliar with. I'll be able to relate this to my mandolin for the tune! Nice Job, by the way!! :)
thanks so much for this. it is of great value to someone trying to learn to fiddle in fiddle diaspora (germany). the camera angle is perfect. i try to listen, watch and study and practice over and over again. i just wish youtube would allow me to slow it down. please keep these coming. you don't believe how useful they are. thanks! - tom
I'm not sure, but I think the key to why your music is so amazing and better than everyone else is your shuffle. I thinkit's the shuffle that is the trick.
Some people make a valid point that pattern bowing, such as shuffling, can be boring. Solo, unaccompanied, or getting it in sync with a small ensemble, seems flattery certain melodies more than others. Good shuffling can produce a bit of a trance state where music spells and sorcery can take place. Thanks for watching, if you can, help me get the website noted in my newer videos built up.
Getting carried away is good fun but it is a bit difficult to follow you on some parts, speaking as a listener. I wasn't trying to play along. I should learn this tune though since its one that I know my g-grandfather played.
wow. you did such a great job on this. I'm just learning, haven't played in 43 years, please, would you tell me what key you are playing this, golden slippers in?
My strumming hand is burning in anticipation! Your version has lots of ooompfy life! Wicked!
That last rendition is probably the best Golden Slippers I ever heard. Great playing on this much under-appreciated number.
Glad you like it, check out more videos hosted at my fidvid dot org website
