This was the song that did it for me. I watched “Thrill” and thought, that’s cute, and they’re rocking! Then “Choose Me” and thought they had some catchy tunes. Then “Domination” and I figured they knew what they were doing onstage. But after “From Now On?” Things just got serious. These Maids are on another level altogether. I haven’t heard this sort of songcraft and execution in decades. Band-Maid is a once in a generation band.
Kanami has been adding more orchestral elements into the Ladies' songs since their song Daydreaming. On many of the live versions, they will have what sounds like a full orchestra playing an opening that leads into the first verse. It's ranged from a piano segueing to strings, to what sounds like strings, woodwinds, brass and piano. It varies from concert to concert, but it ALL sounds so very very good. And many of us are wanting Kanami to write a 20 minute prog rock song, but Saiki won't allow it.
@@kicorse I gave the Live Nation Lady a gift for the Ladies of Band-Maid in Houston in addition to I printed out a series of questions for the Ladies. One of the questions was if they would ever put out a "Concept Album" like RUSH 2112, Styx Paradise Theater or any of that style. I still haven't gotten a response, nor an acknowledgement.
Alex, it's good to see you back in MAIDLAND. After 'MEMORABLE' I thought we had lost you. In my opinion, the girls climb the stairs of rock music in a building of music full of neighbors with different tastes and emotions. They do not use the elevator and they greet everyone by stepping on each step, each floor. The girls are epic neighbors and there is something for everyone. That was 'MEMORABLE' and 'From Now On' is music for the people on the roof/attic. Thank you.
Many of us recently saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. And the DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as the 2023 BAND-MAID 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR continues in the US (and Mexico!): DATE CITY VENUE Aug 3 Chicago Lollapalooza After Show @ Park West Aug 4 Chicago, IL Lollapalooza Aug 6 Minneapolis, MN Varsity Theater Aug 8 Denver, CO Summit Aug 9 Salt Lake City, UT THE Depot Aug 11 Portland, OR Crystal Ballroom Aug 12 Spokane, WA Bing Crosby Theater Aug 14 Sacramento, CA Ace of Spades Aug 15 Anaheim, CA House of Blues Anaheim Aug 18 Mexico City, MX PABELLÓN OESTE In addition their ongoing Japan tour continues with 17 more concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concludes at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023! The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx, Alex!
In this one Kanami gets to show off not only her guitar skills but her composition skills as well. From what I understand she uses a synthesizer to create the backing track.
I think it’s just all part of the digital ProTools recording application in widespread use now. Any sound you might ever want is part of the package. You don’t have to play anything if you don’t want to; especially synth and string sounds; you just program them into the digital track. 🤷🏻♂️🎼 I know…it’s too easy and kinda take the skill and fun out of it 🤔 Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🔥🎸🥁🎤🎼😎✌🏼
Good review. I really like “Onset” and “Without Holding Back” but, for me, “ From Now On” is next level ! It just heavier and hits much harder. Kanami really stands out with her wonderful playing, with Akane, Misa, and Miku upping their game too. I saw the Maids recently and their live show exceeded my expectations…they’re just amazing.
There are only a few songs that can reach into my heart and tug on my soul. Pink Floyd's "Eclipse" and "Wish You Were Here" come to mind. Band-Maid is the only modern era group that seems to be able achieve this for me with songs like "From Now On" and "About Us". I knew that Band-Maid was a special group when I heard Kanami's solo in "Daydreaming". I am fairly certain that it is Kanami on the piano. Band-Maid seems to have a DIY Punk-Rock work ethic in many ways. They understand that if they want it done right, they need to do it themselves, so they do their own backing track programming. Both Kanami and Misa have taken piano since preschool, and both do MIDI programming. Kanami writes down every note of Band-Maid's compositions and they have sold commemorative books of sheet music for their last several albums.
Instrumental-wise, there are three song-writers in the band. The main and leader of them is Mincho obviously, and the others are MISA and Ahchan. And, Ahchan treats her drums as if they are melodic instruments, and it’s amazing.
This song gives me constant goosebumps. :) Ps.: It's a typical Band Maid phenomenon that the song you're currently listening to is always the "best"... :D
Love your reactions Alex and long time since you have reached to the maids....they dropped a new song and video about 4 weeks ago called "shambles" you should check out....but then the next day the went on the stage at lollapalooza and dropped an extended play of "hate" with a big time bass and guitar battle.....Misa riffs were back and forth with Mincho.....you would love it
It seems you're going through some hard times... This song is totally fitting with that, Kanami is spilling her heart out in this song, for all to see. Wish you well, brother. This music is the caress we need in moments like that.
Alex, so glad that you came back!!! Thanx always for reacting to my favorite band, 'BAND-MAID'!!! After listening to BAND-MAID, my friend suddenly started to learn BASS, after watching MISA!!! 😂 It's not about reaction, but... So sorry about the JAPANESE RECORD COMPANY and some other big companies that's BLOCKING TH-cam channels... I, as a Japanese J-Rock and Heavy metal lover, hate the BLOCK systems that's bothering Good TH-cam reacters and reactions...I hope this comment don't get blocked...😅 Anyways, thanx for coming back and reacting!! Cheers from TOKYO!!🤘😁
At the end of MISA's solo the camera pans back and there Mincho with her axe 🪓 hanging from her neck just standing there. I started to get a little scared.
You are right- The generally short nature of their songs is a bit of a downer when they are THIS good lol.. But I guess the flip side is you get more of them on an album or in a set :) I wonder what their longest track is - and is it even over 5 minutes?
I think "Forward" is their longest song. It's right at the five minute mark. "The non-fiction days" is close to five minutes also. I don't think they wrote either one of them. 🤣
It's a shame the recording doesn't let that low note at the end of the breakdown ( 5:16 ) on the bottom string of Misa's bass come though, seems to be c. D1, 36Hz or something, it should rattle yer woofers! ETA >> actually you can hardly hear the entire bottom octave of her bass, damn.

Kanami is the vocalist in this track.
Kanami let's her PRS do the singing in this one!
This the most prolific statement ever thank you ,you awesome
F_cking masterpiece. IMO the best of their instrumentals, in themselves a wonderful set of masterpieces.
☝ This.

We need to form a Prog-Maid campaign group!

I discovered Band-Maid over a year ago, and I've been listening to them every day since, and this instrumental song is my favorite!!!!!

Thanks for getting back to Band-Maid, I have also been enjoying your Angelina journey. The entire Unleash EP is like this song, just fantastic!!

Welcome back at long last. It's good to see you reacting to Band Maid again. The best rock band on the planet.
When they learn to play, they're going to be wonderful!
Alex, how does it get any better than this??? These ladies are the most amazing talents I have witnessed in my 61 years. Ugggghhh
Great to see you again bro, thanks for reaction
This song gives me constant goosebumps. :)

At the DC show they played Onset followed by From Now On.
It was ridiculous in the best possible way.
