Amazing! I could sit and listen to her play all day. I've been playing guitar In church for probably 16 years now and just been blessed with many talents and became the piano player Easter Sunday. Play everything by ear.
This is surely a dying style of playing and brings back many memories for me. This clip needs to be cherished by her family of others who know or knew her. I do hope we will have these hymns in Glory Land with the old church masters playing them.
Absolutely amazing brings tears to my eyes I've been playing for nearly 50 years now but sadly due to health and sight I no longer play much. This was one of my late mums friends favourite also and I used to play it for her . Wonderful hearing the Hammond organ
Rest in Peace Marlene. My wonderful piano teacher of 10 years, athough I don’t think I’ll ever be at her level. I think about her often and the days where we would do duets together. I still have all of the sheet music she gave me with her handwritten notes on it
My grandmother played this song and I've watched this video I don't know how many times because it reminds me of her. Can't thank you enough for sharing this. 💛
WOW! Now THAT got my attention and got my toes to tappin! What a talented lady, and oh how I miss this kind of music in our churches today. Thanks so much for sharing your friend and her talent with us. She brought a smile to my face! Mo Jo
Marlene was the pianist for the Harmonaires quartet back in the 80s. She and her dad, Ward Kimmel (he played the harmonica) were wonderful people to travel around with on weekends.
WC Eva i still play like this, she is awesome!! My father was a minister and a pianist and he taught me when i was 10 years old growing up in a black Baptist Church and I'm 55 years old now and i must admit this Beautiful Lady has me beat on playing this particular song. Love on her and i hope she sees my comment. God bless you Miss. Marlene!
If you want to hear someone else really play Southern Gospel piano, listen to Scarlet Haynes on Emory Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee on Facebook. She plays most Sundays and always the prelude before announcements.
