I once played this game with my dad somewhen around 1998 and also lost him 9.5 years ago. The fun part of this memory is my dad brought me to something we called a "Computer club", where I could play Tekken on PlayStation. Then when my time was over, we approached the House of the Dead arcade that was in he hallway of the building and "we" (as I thought that time) started playing. My dad held the handgun and I tried to held the same handgun from the bottom. I thought that my dad held the handgun because I wasn't tall enough to properly point it to the screen. But only years later I realized that my dad also wanted to play some games and have fun just like me. When you're a kid you don't realize it because you think that the world revolves around you

Back in like 2005 this arcade used to be installed in a local movie theater. I was little and didn't understand what it was, but it looked fun and I always wanted to play it, but my parents wouldn't allow it. I never even knew its name, cause I couldn't read English. So glad that I found this, huge nostalgia

Sometimes in moments of pure silence I can still hear the "Reload" voice

I'm the exact same pal I didn't quite know what attracted me to this game the whole atmosphere and the way the zombies limbs came apart and also if you liked this there's another game just as violently satisfying was on the Dreamcast was zombie revenge that was also a good game Incase you haven't seen or heard the news the remake is Nintendo switch ps4 and Xbox just said I'd let you know I'm Chris by the way I said I'd reply to you because we share the same childhood game anyways bud enjoy 👍🇮🇪💯
This was awesome, I remember being a very young teenager and playing this with my uncle in the arcades.
House of the Dead 2 is MUCH better in my opinion.
Check out the remake of House of the Dead, on Switch if possible, the gyroscopic controls give you a feeling of playing with a light gun. Supposedly they’re working on a remake of 2 as well.

Thanks for making these house of the dead arcade videos. They're a fun nostalgic trip just by watching them. Hopefully the switch remake comes out in 2022.

The Arcade machines really had better graphics than home consoles. This had Dreamcast level graphics way ahead of its time
The sequel had Dreamcast llevel graphics. Shi, even the dreamcast version shat on the arcade version. Its true.

Yep Sega where ahead of their time with their arcade games. Shame this wasn't ported on Dreamcast in 1998 then released as a double pack on Dreamcast for the US/UK launch would have been fun 😊
Hell, even the PC port clearly looks (and even sounds) inferior to the Arcade version.
@@pepelefrog1121exactly arcade version is much better than pc and sega Saturn versions because of the graphics, it’s really a shame that arcade version never was released for the next consoles because sega lost the source code of the game, now I just hope that sega model 2 be adapted for Xbox series just like sega model 3 and that way can play this classic game.
I like to think that Edward Norton was a model for this game. He looks just like him!

This and time crisis with the slide action light guns was the best. This game still looks amazing by today standards.
I beated the game with one corner, It took me months of practice to get to that point. I remember people watching me playing, best part of my childhood

@@adriansoto3061 Te lo juro. Tenía como 12 años y practicaba casi todos los días en el NeoGeo de por mi casa. Ya me sabía qué camino tomar y en qué momento aparecían los enemigos, además había desarrollado una estrategia para cada jefe viendo a otros jugadores (mejores que yo). Algo que debes saber es que habían varios que podían pasar el juego con una ficha, yo aprendí viendo y practicando.

I remember playing this game a lot when I was a little kid. House of the Dead along with 2 and 3 was one of the first things that terrified me when I was little. I spent hours or minutes shooting at Zombies but never could beat the whole game. It was when I got older is when I really got good at the game and I was able to defeat the Magician, who was just as terrifying as I remember.
This game is just legendary
You know the funny thing is that Dr Curian isn't even really established as a villain at all. Besides the preview before the game and Sophie mentioning him once there's nothing to really establish him as a villain to the protagonists or the audience.
Granted it's only a 25 minute long game so I doubt that the writers cared but even still it's kinda funny how when you meet him for the first time only a mere 85% through the game he gives the classic evil monolog as if they personally met prior to that moment and saying "I'm surprised you lasted so long" like was he watching them? Did he even know who Rogan and G were?

Atleast in the second game they showed some scenes establishing Goldman as the villain early on and a scene of the characters learning about Goldman.
The remake may look great, but the original still looks way creepier.

curian, goldman, thronheart, both curian and goldman are dead, but thronheart still around all way at end of house of the dead 3, which last game chronologically.
So guess be last and final antagonist of this franchise, as nobody else to continue the research.

At 3:12 the player had blown the zombie's arm off and yet the game still has him strike the lady scientist with the now missing arm and you don't get the bonus.

I found out Sega lost the source code for this game. Does that mean it's completely impossible to port this game ever again?
MegaPixel Studio reportedly had to remake the entire game from scratch in the Unity game engine.
Due to licensing issues, the original soundtrack by composer Tetsuya Kawauchi was replaced by a new soundtrack heavily inspired by the original.

Is this on MAME? I tried running the PC version but windows 11 can’t run 16 bit programs and I’m not smart enough to set up a virtual machine to be able to run it. Also couldn’t get pc hotd3 working. Hotd 2!PC and scarlet dawn work great though.

I remember seeing the House of the dead at the local laser tag and couldn't forget how messy & gory the demo was.
To this day its one of my absolute favorites.
