I once stepped on a random nail in the woods, while camping with some friends. We were in a pretty rural location, so I couldn't just go get a tetanus shot. We cleaned it the best we could, but luckily, however, I found out you are supposedly more likely to get tetanus from living on a farm (barbed wire, old rusty metal, poop & dirt, etc), which I have my whole life.., so I was not too concerned after. Its been 10 years since then, but I still think I got off lucky, lol. Of course, I had my shots as a kid, but now I'm starting to think it would be a good idea to get updated..
A couple months ago I went to the hospital with a UTI and since I was there anyway had the doctor look at the ingrown toenail I also happened to have. He asked when my last tetanus shot was and of course I couldn't remember so I got one 09/02/2021. Which I will surely forget by the time I'm asked about it.
@@ashybee4007 it actually can happen to you if you get dirt in your cut. For example, you can get tetanus if you got your cut on the street, in your garden, in the sea, on the beach, etc. But paper cut? Most probably not. But if you don't have a vaccine I recommend getting it so you feel safe
Rust is harmless. It's the bacteria that often lives on old metal. It also lives in the soil and many other surfaces. It is mostly associated with rust because old rusty objects are the ones most likely to cut you and contaminate the wound. You can catch it by digging in the soil with an open wound on your finger, or from broken glass. Anything that allows the bacteria to get into the open wound from contaminated soil.

Haha, same, happens to me when i went jogging barefoot in village's woods and one rusty nail pierced my right foot. Since there's practically nowhere to stop by, i dare myself to pull the nail and walk home while leaving blood trail; no worries though, I'm vaccinated, so I'm safe.
I remember an article, I think it was in Reader Digest, where a doctor noted that Tetanus was so rare in the United States that nearly all of his fellow doctors didn't even know what the patent he saw even had. This along with the "had *all* vaccinations" is likely what threw off the doctors regarding the old lady. The really sad thing is she did everything you advised - she went in ASAP.

when i was 5, i stepped on an old, rusty, nail and it went trough my foot. i was embarrased cuz i didnt want to tell someone because my dad had friends over and i was shy, so i proceeded to walk with a punctured foot when one of is friend noticed that there is a line of blood coming as i walk, he picked me up then called my father. he was nowhere to be found and then he asked me if i ever got a tetanus shot, which i luckily said: ,,i got it maybe yesterday´´ then he still didnt believe me so he had to call my dad trough his phone. he came rushing to me and his friend and my head started to hurt so my dad rushed me to the hospital. if my dad wouldnt have good friends i guess i wont be even alive by now.... thank you Ayden 🐍🐍

5:11 Clostridium tetani (C. tetani)
The "T" in tetani should be in lower caps since it pertains to species, and that's the right way of writing scientific names. I LOVE YOUR SHOW!!!!

You have 1 hour to live
I once stepped on a drain cover that has metal prongs. The thing was nasty. Moldy and mildewy. I got really lucky and didn’t get sick. We cleaned the wound out thoroughly and I went to the doctor to get it seen. best part is I was going on a trip that week starting that day and it was delayed a couple of hours to take care of it.
Brew, you gotta keep making videos man. Its so entertaining to watch and easy to understand, plus ur jokes are comedy gold. Cant wait to see more!!!

@Lethal644 pfft im dying 💀💀💀
I had my last ever tetanus vaccination last year, so I'm as protected as possible. I didn't realise there was still a risk though, so that's something to bear in mind.
when i was 5, i stepped on an old, rusty, nail and it went trough my foot. i was embarrased cuz i didnt want to tell someone because my dad had friends over and i was shy, so i proceeded to walk with a punctured foot when one of is friend noticed that there is a line of blood coming as i walk, he picked me up then called my father. he was nowhere to be found and then he asked me if i ever got a tetanus shot, which i luckily said: ,,i got it maybe yesterday´´ then he still didnt believe me so he had to call my dad trough his phone. he came rushing to me and his friend and my head started to hurt so my dad rushed me to the hospital. if my dad wouldnt have good friends i guess i wont be even alive by now.... thank you Ayden 🐍🐍
Ouch, guess my worries about me stepping anywhere pays off!

keep up to date on your vaccines and you'll most likely be fine.
