      This is true my mom does this and her armpits smell literally like absolutely nothing. Even when she is sweating. I think the lime kills bacteria. My only advice would be to make sure your armpits won't be exposed to the sun to prevent sun burning. Wear full t-shirts instead of strapless or tank tops.

    Great suggestion. After I stopped using traditional anti-persperant / deoderants I started cleaning my underarms with a diluted mixture of apple cider vinegar and water. The ACV kills bacteria and once dried you do not smell it but the under arm odors are gone. (At least it worked great for me). I still use natural deoderants so I love the idea of this DIY deoderant. Many thanks!

    • @lupsy54
      @lupsy54 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicole Jones hi I have a question: do u recommend using the vinegar and water in the shower as soap for your underarms? Or before applying the natural deordarent? Thanks! :)

    • @nicolejones7084
      @nicolejones7084 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Lupe, I actually put it on before my shower so it has time to kill the bacteria. You can rinse it off in the shower after if you want, so as long as you leave it on long enough to kill the bacteria. Also sometimes I do it if I do not take a shower right away, I will just take a cotton swap, wipe the underarm, let it dry and then add deoderant after it dried. Hope that helps :)

    Hi Dr. Axe, I love that you are advocating the use of essential oils as they can be so healing and can eliminate body odour. I must admit to being a bit lazy and bought proskin athlete for women instead of making my own. It has some of the oils you mention - coconut oil, tea tree oil and patchouli oil and it has worked wonders for my under arm odour. It doesn't stop me from sweating but when I do sweat I don't smell because I think it kills the bacteria that causes it and it smells lovely too. I also read that sweating is healthy and I don't sweat that much so I didn't need to use an anti-perspirant in addition to this.

    I’ve tried every “natural deodorant “ out there and NONE work more than a few hours. I’ve tried the recipe he mentioned making at home also. Drinking a lot of water didn’t help with the pit odor either. I think some people just have a stronger body odor that nothing can fix.

    I shower exclusively with Kirk's Castile Aloe Vera soap. I get those little spray bottles from Walmart. I put 20 drops of whatever essential oil I like then top it up with distilled water. Shake vigorously before each use and spritz. The water evaporates and leaves the oil. It's all you need.

    I have tried switching to natural deodorants with simply arrowroot powder, baking soda, coconut oil and essential oil ingredients. But I developed a very painful underarm inflamed rash on both underarms. When I quit applying the product, it healed. Reintroduced, it came back. I believe this is from the abrasiveness of the baking soda or arrowroot. I had to go back to my aluminum conventional brand but I really don't want to! Any suggestions on how to prevent the rash?

      Brooke Flood Baking soda does it to me. I replaced it with clay. I'm using bentonite clay as I already had it available. 1oz coconut oil, 1tbs corn flour or arrowroot if you have it, 1tbs clay, 20 drops of essential oil. Been using for months without any issues. I was ready to give up on making my own until i found this recipe.

    Hello Dr. Axe, do you know of any treatments for Hordoleum? It tends to flare up when I have the heat on in my car. Ocassionally, I will do a black tea bag over the eye...I looked it up on the internet, but thought maybe you had additional info. It does give relief. Sometimes I don't feel like boiling a tea bag...esp. when I get home from work, which is close to midnight. I'm a NA and I work second shift. Thank you.
    Also, I made my own pit deodorant and the baking soda irritated my underarms...which I use ocassionally still..I switch on/off with a natural spray deodorant I found at TJMax. I don't care too much for the Tom's deodorant...it makes me feel greasy!

    I live tea tree oil as a treatment but find it is a bit too sour and medicinal and also permanently saturated some shirts where if I ever wear them again it permeates if I start sweating

    Is it best to avoid heating essential oils? Maybe you can preserve their nutrients and chemistry by only adding the essential oils at the end after already heating the beeswax, which takes a long time to heat? Does anyone know about denaturing the essential oils with heat?

      you probably need to take vitamin D. a symptom of lack of vitamin d in the body causes your head to sweat. I know because I've had that problem forever. ever since i started taking vitamin d regularly i don't have that problem anymore. hope this helps.

      Has any of these suggestions helped?
      I was thinking maybe applying bergamot or some of the others suggested very lightly to the scalp.
      A friend tried deodorant short term. It worked.
      So these should work as well, is my thought on this.

    Can u please post a video on how to get rid of dandruff ?

    • @shareeflower5629
      @shareeflower5629 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In ALL honesty, the ONLY way is to wash your hair / body in rainwater. I got dandruff after moving from my parents farm to the city, didn't realise it was the cause until I moved back home and our home town was forced to have chlorine in the supply water. I boil water from my little rainwater tank now and have no sores in my scalp or dandruff.

      Shea butter has a thick texture like beeswax. Both need to be melted or warmed to lather easily, or mixed with a lighter consistency oil like almond or coconut oil.

      Sorry..Calendula Wax...typo. Candelilla wax is a wax derived from the leaves of the small Candelilla shrub native to northern Mexico and the southwestern United States, Euphorbia cerifera and Euphorbia antisyphilitica, from the family Euphorbiaceae. It is yellowish-brown, hard, brittle, aromatic, and opaque to translucent.

      Use a spray of apple cider vinegar equal parts water , not full strength everytime you shower. Then put a layer of antibacterial powder on the area a couple times a day. You need to kill the bacteria.
