1 Timothy 2:1,2 First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made in behalf of all people, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
Who are the people we should pray for? All people. our friends, enemies, even for the politicians. What are we supposed to pray for them? How about that they would make good decisions, that they not be influenced by the wickedness of their own heart and the wickedness that is all around them. Pray that God would move in their hearts and those that aren't saved God would draw them to Himself to find forgiveness for their sins. Pray for your enemies - not for their death and destruction but for their salvation. This is the mindset that God is calling His people to, that we would be a people of prayer. Not just for the lostness of people, but for those whom we might regard as our enemies. People we don't like or people who have even miss used us, abused us. It's hard to do, but that is what this passage is saying. It is what God REQUIRES of us. Pray for all men. 1 Timothy 2:3,4 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
