This feels like something the teacher would pull up in middle school history class and I don't like being reminded of it.
i was really enjoying the video but the questions made me feel like i went back to 2nd grade and not to medieval europe.
it is so sharp a
the porcolis
This is the best castle tour i have ever seen on youtube so far.
Thank you so much!
Watch more.
I love it, I’m fascinated by castles. I bet living in them during winter was horrible though.
Lol rite
he really had the audacity to jump scare me with a cannon ball sound
Why do u have to make it like an exam..
He is medEVIL!
@vict5150 vict5150 Or just a dork.
Because some people enjoy learning while exploring..
@vict5150 vict5150 lol you just said what @antiquarian said
@@JuneWrld209 no @antiquarian said "He is medEVIL!" but @vict5150 vict5150 said "He is medEVIL"
Goes to mcdonalds
Staff:"what would you like to order?"
Bloke:"i will be answering these questions at the end of the video."
Very well done! My 4-yr-old and I absolutely loved your footage and the accompanying trivia. Thank you!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me :)
Cool video buddy,
I really like the quiz like questions, very nice touch!!!
thank you, much appreciated! 🤘💀
My daughter and I enjoyed the pop quiz and were excited to learn the answers! Thank you for the tour.
So glad you did! Thanks for commenting :)
Very nice and well-preserved castle. Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it
A lot of thought went into castles and their defence. I didnt know the stairs were buildt like that to combat righthanded hostiles!
Then it will amaze you that we drive on the left in the UK so that we could use our swords in the right hand when on a horse on the road coming up to an adversary!
@@KowBoySpace Yes and we Americans drive on the right side because it is rude for a cowboy to shoot a rider on the other lane across from a lady sitting next to him.
Toilets were often found near the guard houses in a lot of those larger bronze age, norman era castles. The walls of the castle are not painted white for no reason either, white refelcted more light through the windows which in turn brightened up the chambers.
great tour and great questions/answers. it's crazy to think salt back then was such as sought after commodity
This was a very interesting video! I liked the questions, thank you for this tour, I've always wanted to live in a castle :)
Hope you enjoy and love your new home. Awesome!. And Interesting!. 🎉🎉🎉❤
Thank you!! 😊
This is a beautiful video and I’ll watch to the end without annoying quiz!
Thank u for a great inside tour. I wish i could see it in person!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The reason Irish castles are such impressive fortresses is that they were the seats of power of the invading British, and had to withstand constant attack from the Irish people. Cool video 👍.
The US arguably has a lot more history than anywhere in Europe, very interesting
Ireland has about 30000 castles incase you didn't know, well now you know and the country with most castles is france
I loved the medieval times 💕
I'm glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching :)
@Sunny Girl not really
Death rate was too high for normal civilians and soldiers, illness, famines, wars,
Rats crowd insides of castle all people there are not having hygiene
And not good investigation so there are lot of inocent accused and tortured
I get ur opinion, but if you aren't rich during those times you barely get a bath, and peasants don't rlly survive. Woman usually die of childbirth fever or blood loss when giving birth
STUNNING!
1-The first door was for deliveries, milk, opium etc.
2- The pour down substance was boiling tar or oil
3. I don’t know lol.
The poop chases are nasty!! I would defiantly live there for sure. I would plumb in a modern shower, toilet and washing machine too. Cool video.
I love this video! Thanks for making it and for all the facts and information. The spiral staircase/right hand fact was excellent.
Thank you! I very much appreciate your kind words 😊
Archers. !. Amazing!.
4:37 scared the shit outta me 😭 great video!!
Thank you!
This is Awesome!!!
Thank you! Thankfully they built to last back then.
I skipped because of the questions.
Great video to use in class. We had fun answering the questions.
Glad you enjoyed it!
🚨 *Headphone* 🎧 *alert* !!! 🚨
at 4:34!!
pause & turn volume down for 2 seconds!!
P.s. truly an excellent tour & narration, love the contagious enthusiasm 💙 the cannon sound may have temporarily deafened me, but worth it lol
Thank you for sharing this gem with the world :)
Edit: I happen to love the questions! Then again I did like those middle school classes others commented not liking being reminded of hahaha
I was quizzing myself the whole time.
Just saying, there's an audience out here for this 😁
This comment just made my day! THANK YOU! My next video is a trip the the oldest cemetery in America so keep an eye out for that one! :)
@@schatzsucher Sounds fascinating! I most certainly will!
Son of a bitch I was using headphones!
Could you make that explosion at 4:36 a little louder I couldn't hear it.
Edit: Great video otherwise!!
Trainor Race I can’t tell if this is a joke or not
I had headphones in with the volume all of the way up, that was painful.
my heart jumped out of my chest omg
😂
Its the middle if the fucking night and I screamed a little... that was fucking terrifying!!!
yeah i’d live there that’s cool 😅
!. Yes!. Braveheart. Awesome!. History. Also have Movie!.
the fact that it was made in 1142 is so fucking cool
Great tour, very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
@@schatzsucher Thanks for making it!
I thought i knew all the questions but i was wrong idid think oil was poured down on the enemy, and the left sided stair i never even thought about that but what sense it makes 👍
The left sided stairs I found really interesting also! Thanks for watching :)
I guessed ginger instead of salt and I thought the cannon would shoot through the wall, otherwise I got the other questions right. This was a very insightful video I almost felt as though I had been there just by watching it. Thanks for uploading.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
thanks for this!! my teacher showed us this video for my history class and it was really helpful, i appreciate you!!
Salt. Spice. Amazing!. 😮
Thanks for the great tour!! Question: how big is a bedroom in this castle and how many people lived in this castle at its peak?
Good question! I've wondered that myself, I do not have an answer. Glad you enjoyed!
Oh my god i love everything it just looks so magical
I really enjoyed the video, very nice and in great shape medieval castle. Thank you
Thank you. It was really cool to be able to explore a castle like that knowing it was occupied over 800 years ago! Too bad they wouldn't let me search around with my metal detector! I just wonder how many coins and relics are buried in and around the castle!
You deserve more views what a amazing content
Thank You, Thank You, ThankYou!!!!
@@schatzsucher you're welcome, i have humble input for you, your video is already very good but it would be better if the quiz was appear less frequent, don't get me wrong i love the quiz it's fun and add so much to the video, but if the question arises frequently its kinda annoying and intervene with the video, lol just a humble opinion. Anyway keep up the good work man!
Sliding door. 😮. Interesting!.
You ask so many questions to us but bruh I’m trying to study castles, I’m not a teacher.
The answers are revealed at the end of the video.
ohhhhhhh
I kinda look dumb now don’t I XD
Man, I jumped at 4:36 with that headphone in my ears😂. Dont do that again.
Too many quiz trivias, without those would be better..explain as you go!
Notice the tooling marks on the arch ways are very precise and mechanical seeming.
my teacher told us to check out this video it is really cool and had lots of good information for my project!
That's awesome!
Interesting and educational.
All the questions distracted from your video.
Thank you so much for the tour
My pleasure 😊
GORGEOUS.
Thanks! (The castle's not bad either)
Canon balls. !?. Amazing!
Bruh why is he asking all these stupid questions 😂
I hate that you make this video like an "exam" then you reveal the "answer key" at the end. One question that needs to be answered at the end is enough for me😑
this is amazing and very intresting
What is this story time and squizes? love it😂
Great Video 🏰🇮🇪
Thank you so much!
This was great! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Muy buen video!
My answers for the questions.
1. The small door was used so people could escape when an enemy was attacking
2. Hot water with sand
3. I don't know many movies
4. Staircases went clockwise so if an enemy was running up them they would run up them slower
5. Not sure but I will guess Italian
6. Toilets were in the walls and the waist traveled in to the moats
7. A cannon would get stuck in the wall
8. Either salt or pepper
9. 15 I guess it depends on how well trained the archer was
Gotta love a good castle.
Me too, I can't get enough! Unfortunately our trip to Europe is canceled this year due to stupid corona virus.
Hopefully, if we behave sensibly, we will be able to start getting out and about again next year. This year it's going to have to be visiting places vicariously through youtube videos. Fortunately, we have a number of films shot but not uploaded but they won't last forever. 🙁
Is this video made for Preschoolers?..
yes
Great job & awesome camera work. I enjoyed this video very much!
Awesome, thank you!
I'm 1 of the 10%, left handed & received an A+ in archery, however, I wouldn't want to battle in those winding cases. The deadly architecture of castles is intimidating, but breathtakingly beautiful nevertheless. There's so much history & my guess was Brave Heart🏹🛡.
1 of my dreams is to live in a reconstructed castle, or newly built made to look medieval⚔💘
If you notice on the right side of the door, before heading up the stairs, there is a hole in the wall. This was called a murder hole, from which arrows could be fired through. I've imagined living in a castle also, however it does seem as they would be rather cold, not only in temp. but also in feel....not very warm and cozy!
Hmm? Does anyone know where the toilet is? Ohh! That must be the answer to Does anyone what they poured over their enemy? 😂
Did YOU know castle steps were also unevenly spaced and sized. Some were really narrow, others too wide. Some places close together, others spaced far apart. Those who lived in the castle knew the pattern and could hop, skip and jump them...allowing them to flee quickly. The enemy chasing them would misstep, trip and fall....or be forced to take them slowly at the very least.
Exactly!
Schatzsucher Great vid! I was born in the wrong century... by FAR!
This is epic.
Oh!. Sliding door. Front Gate!. Off Course!. 😂😂😂 🤭
I was looking for this! Upload more of these content, I really love them.
Thank you! I will be uploading more videos as soon as I finish my taxes!
Great video. I also noticed you metal detect. I cannot wait to watch those videos. Subscribed!
I have lots of metal detecting videos on my channel. Thanks for watching!
Please don’t make questions sound so depressing.
4:33 love the vid, but damn dude, you really gotta sooth me with your voice, just to give me a heart attack at 1 am with that sound effect??
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 KICK START MY HEART 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I am interested to see the kind of toilet they use during the early years. But you haven't shown one,
The stairs are clockwise because most people are right handed and the stairs would be easier to defend from the upper siden then it was for a attacker coming from beneath
I guess everyone to each their own. I very much enjoyed this video and the questions. And actually I was wondering why the small door and that was one of the questions. Pretty neat. I like it 👌😊
Thanks for the positive vibes, that’s what keeps me going! 🥇
Asking questions and not answering them until the end = clickbait on a video I already clicked on.
Finally a video that tours the inside of the towers and great hall--most videos just span the outside and never go into detail on the interior. The cannon sound scared the bejesus out of me though. Did not like that.
The pronounce is ka- heer =cahir
Where’s the bathroom, anywhere you put the bucket....
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out my channel for more Medieval tours. Thanks for watching :)
I wonder how many drunks fell down those tiny, winding stairs back in the day?
Great video. It seems odd to me that salt of all things would have been in short supply in Ireland of all place. I mean, aren’t they an island surrounded by salt water? It would seem they’d have an unlimited supply of sea salt. I would have guessed literally any other spice than salt. It seems that that’s what would have been the most abundant and readily available. I wonder how they preserved their meat...
Excellent point. When researching the facts for this video I was focusing on Medieval times in general. Also, I think the use of salt as food preservative consumed much of the supply. Thanks for watching :)
Do you understand how much water boiling they would have had to do to get the salt they needed? Salt was imported and the royals/wealthy were the only ones who could afford it. Salt was for cooking but it was also a meat preservative.
Kay InMaine I would encourage you to research how sea salt is made. There is no boiling involved.
So a ? Maybe I'm reading to much fairytale but don't castle's have a throne for the King a fancy chair at the end of a large hallway looking room where you walk down to the King
Yes, that's what I expected also. This is supposedly one of the largest and best preserved castles in Ireland which seems strange. It was an amazing place to visit but I expected a castle to be much bigger and more glamorous, like in a fairytale. This castle dates back to 1142 so I think it has something with the time period. I think the castles in Germany are more like the fairytale ones. Next time I'm in Germany I'll visit a bigger castle and make a video! Thanks for watching :)
You got two answers wrong my friend castles can be destroyed by cannonballs and indeed they were in the English Civil War this was called slighting .
Idk about toilet but I am curious about how did they wipe ?
pinecones
The small door was an everyday door.
For peasants, like me.
Starwell. Protection.
Sorry .. forgot to thank you for uploading this video. It was absolutely intriguing, informative and exciting and I got all bar 2 questions right. New subscriber here.
Rant Gate protect from the enemy!.
To stop the enemy.
It must have been beautiful in the 12th century
You have the most medieval look in the world, after my avatar of course
bruh that cannon sound hurt my ears
oops, sorry about that. I'll have to fire my sound engineer... haha
Brave heart was the movie
Small door - peeps was small back then , opening over door - hot water to scald thine enemy, movie = billie Elliot? , clockwise= more rightha ded peeps
They had chamber pots for bathroom break they didnt have bathrooms
Someone would scoop up poop for garden compost.
blippi comes to mind
