Great job explaining this madness Ricky! It was such a riot to see him wing that off the cuff in our greenroom. Bela is from another planet all together!
Just when I finished tackling this myself, your video pops up. Great work! FWIW, I hear the descending lick in C mixolydian because it's over a C chord. Same scale as F, but it's so interesting how other musicians minds picture things!
Playing in and out! Sometimes playing a rehearsed pattern over a few chords sounds good even if it’s out of key, I experiment with that a bit but to take that and explain it man you don’t make thing easy for yourself. Anyway loved it! Very interesting.

Hey thanks buddy. Your channel is an inspiration!
Fascinating stuff. I love that solo and it’s awesome to see it explained like this. Thanks Ricky! I would love to see more of these analysis videos.
I'll for sure get to doing more of these. Thanks for the suggestion Mack
I started transcribing this a few months ago but never got back to it. Thanks for rewarding my laziness!
Hahaha you're very welcome!
Thank you, Professor Ricky. It's waaaay to complex for me, but it's fun to see how a genius like Bela rocks
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video, thanks Ricky
thanks for watching!
Fun fact, I found your channel while looking for a video of my dads interpretation of dear old Dixie haha
Ps, great stuff as always man!

Great!
JOSEF thank you!
shit man that melodic ending is nasty
Yeah from the 5 note motive into the descending Keith thing, the shift happens in a weird spot and I haven't seen that lick before
hey ricky, where'd you learn those greek names for the chord shapes, and what are all of them called?
I made them up for a few reasons. But they identify inversions. Alpha is 1st inversion, Beta is 2nd inversion, Gamma is 3rd inversion. Good question
My head just exploded
🤯
Do his solo from Zenergy next
Consider it on the to do list...
@@RickyMier I'm still floored by your analysis and execution. GREAT work my friend
I really admire your pickin...but...how in the world can you consider that to Dear Old Dixie? no resemblance to the melody at all...at least IMHO
Oh this isn't the melody at all, it's a Bela Fleck solo backstage haha
too hard...I'm out.
haha
Flashy? Yes. Fast? Yes. Difficult? Yes. Music? No.
Do you smoke crack
How do ya work that out?
Great!
Thanks Michael!
