Excellent video, TF. Love it, love it, love it. Those flashes, that talent, the strength, it's all still there. I had concerns that maybe my Panthers broke him, but you have assuaged me. The future is now for Bryce and Dave. May they become a QB/Coach Duo of legend.
Dawg I’m sorry but his size is not a concern at all and that’s why they went out there and got Dave canales to help Bryce and fix his footwork get into his drop faster get the ball out faster but I respect what your saying I think Bryce is gonna be perfectly fine imo
BY may very well turn it around and be a decent QB, but if it was possible to snap his fingers and grow to 6'3+, BY would do it in a heartbeat. Why do you think that is? Height equals better physical vision. Brees, at a taller height, didn't stand on his toes and crane his neck every snap for the fun of it.
Other then u saying u still concerned about his size and batted balls great video! He proved to be more durable then people said and the batted ball statement is not accurate
I will say about Adam being his favorite target, it's really easy to become a favorite when you are literally the only one who consistantly gets even semi-open and usually catches what is thrown...
Nico Collins had 400 yards receiving before Stroud got to Houston. Guys aren't just "wide open" all the time in the NFL, good QBs in NFL read defenses, have great accuracy, throw guys open etc. things Stroud does that Young isn't close
I can guarentee that you won't say it was better than I thought it was. I factored all of the things he had to endure all season and looked at what he was still able to acomplish and improve throughout the season against all odds.
You tell a very respectable story, full of facts and weighty opinions. Maybe the power side he could implement is not part of his truest personality. He loves the cat and mouse game, and the dogs that break those defensive chains to get to him as the cat to make him go squeak as the trap works! I want to see a deep throw montage but PJ Walker got famous for that as it worked and he got traded!
Bryce did not play well last season, but at the same time, his receiving corps was terrible and his offensive line was even worse. Not to mention the awful coaching staff. Now, there’s a much better coaching staff, and there are improvements everywhere you look on offense. If Bryce doesn’t play well with this, then he’ll be a big time bust. However, I think he will succeed big time. I was there when he torched one of the greatest defenses in college football history. I have no doubt that he has that kind of potential at the next level.
@@ThinkingFootball I watched it, and I agree with a lot of your points. He wasn’t awful. I didn’t mean for it to come off like that. I think he’s got OODLES of potential.
@@ThinkingFootballNo, he was definitely awful overall, just like the rest of the team. Cherry-picking a few plays that any NFL QB can make (or they wouldn't be in the NFL) once or twice does not mitigate that. That said, it was one year. I am highly skeptical that he will ever be more than Teddy Bridgewater-level in the NFL but everything was bad last year. The story will continue once they are playing actual football in the coming months.
@@ThinkingFootball Your right hes great but due to that hes like one of the better 1bs in the league also the problem was WR separation and diontae is only 27 and one of the best route runners in the leagues hes so similar to calvin ridley acctually great vid tho bryce will bounce back
Fair point about the hands. But I also think his critics overrate that aspect a little. He'll give you a few drops every year, that's just who he is. But he'll also give you a thousand yard season every year when your OC isn't Matt Canada and your offense isn't allergic to stretching the field, lol. Go back and watch his tape and look at his stats when Roethlisberger was throwing to him. Tape don't lie.
yup, fans here are pissed. enjoy him Texans this stupid ass owner Tepper set this team back a decade. This gonna go down as one of greatest "busts" ever. Imagine if Ryan Leaf was #1 pick ahead of Peyton instead of #2 behind him. Yup Panthers fans never gonna live this one down.
Solid analysis. It's refreshing to watch someone look at a player from an even standpoint, as opposed to making rash judgements and thinking that they are cooking after 4 snaps.
@@jmgonzales7701 He's a tiny guy, for sure, but he has avoided injuries. Even at Alabama, he missed 2 games, I believe, and that was due to falling awkwardly on his arm. They put some good guys at the guard and center positions. He doesn't have to be enormous if the new line means he isn't touched.
@@justinwilliams1127 there will alwayz be injuries. They shouldnt have trusted a midget qb, he can avoid all the hits until he gets hit one time and its over.height mattes snd id weight
I get his size concerns will always be there since its just physics with these collisions, but batted balls were not even remotely a problem. Thats just cap from someone running out of steam trying to finish their video. Id do that too if i had to watch those panthers snaps again
The “lowers his eyes” knock is extremely nitpicky. He was so good in college at keeping his eyes down field while improvising and it paid off numerous times. He also had 7 batted passes last year, Lawrence had twice as much, Stroud had the same amount on 60 less drop backs, Herbert had 7, Love had 8 and AR had 4 on 522 fewer drop backs and I could go on and on and on. He took 62 sacks and only missed 1 game, Stroud took 38 and missed 2 games. Young played behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league and still hung in there and only missed 1 game. If anything that should be praised and his ability to complete the play and not shy away from hits is important in the NFL
Finally someone who doesn’t want to crucify the man I mean my goodness I get he’s a no.1 pick but the amount of hate is crazy and I was against the pick at the time but he’s proven to me he’s got it, I saw him in person, training camp, pre season and regular season I like the leader we got now
What are your thotughs on the Dave Canales hire? The general around him is hes a very good pass game coordinator and helped revive geno (qb coach) and baker (OC) i wanted to get some insight on his creativity/designs
I always felt like as long as he was healthy he would be fine. I'm not a fan or a hater just really neutral. Give him some weapons and a line and Carolina may have something. Just hoping everybody's wrong on my team's QB 😅
There were almost no batted balls, actually. Footwork and holding the ball too long are definitely big issues, but he showed last year that size isn't.
He will be in a very QB friendly offense under Canales... Baker was protected by a QB friendly scheme and also having Mike Evans... This year will tell all about Baker vs Canales, Bucs are loaded so no one to blame. Canales weirdly enough got a lot of blame from Baker fans because Bucs couldn't score over 21 points but a few games vs depleted defenses.
Everybody keeps gaslighting me into thinking bryce was good when he was historically bad in every metric. Yeah he showed flashes, but consistency is the name of the game. I just don't see it with this guy and never have but who knows I could be eating crow come next year
Man their route concepts…the personnel is already not great and then the concepts were atrocious. Canales can’t possibly draw up anything worse this year, think it’ll improve
All stops and straight crossers. I'm not very well versed in offensive scheme, but even I could tell that Frank Reich's "QB-helper" offense wasn't doing the receivers or quarterback any favors 😂
I think he’s not necessarily a bust but I’ve seen enough to say the trade was a bad decision. He’s definitely not a first overall better than stroud, and he’s never gonna be.
switch cj stroud and bryce and cj would've struggled on that panthers team. I dont think bryce would've killed it like cj did either though. This year will show if bryce was truly the best idea at 1. He needs drew Brees level talent around him. I think they did alot to make it better but not all the way there just yet. 1 more offseason and bra gonna be legit. Cj set up to win now.
BULLSHIT narrative that Houston somehow had a much better roster than Panthers last year. That is not true. Nico Collins had 400 yards receiving year before Stroud got there. Chark had more yards. Theilen was better and more productive than Robert Woods before Stroud and Young got to these teams. Tank Dell is only on Houston because Stroud told them to draft him. Then he got hurt and missed end of season so Stroud didn't even have him for alot of games. Still Stroud went crazy with wins and stats. Stroud is MUCH better QB than Bryce and people making excuses about Carolina "roster" ignore the facts. Yes now Houston added Diggs and Mixon and it's different this year, but thats because Stroud proved to be a great QB already. Diggs a diva and would never even go to play with Bryce Young, fact he wants to team up with Stroud shows just how great Stroud looked last year with mediocre cast around him.
Houston literally had the worst rated receiving corps per PFF going into the 2023 season. Stroud elevated a bunch of nobodies while Bryce pulled everyone down to his level.
Yeah because Patrick Mahomes #1 weapon from scrimmage was, drum roll, a 7th round RB. Great QBs elevate talent. Good QBs get elevated by surrounding talent. Bad QBs sink talent.
@@byufan No I didn't. Kelce is still a good player but he is not the beast he once was. He didn't get 1000 yards and only had 5 TDs. Pacheco lead the team with 1100+ yards and 9TDs. He was their most productive weapon.
Very good video! Also your voice is epic and could narrate NfL films too - I hope BY is successful but my fake nfl draft expertise believed the Panthers wouldn’t be successful with him due to poor ownership -
@@VileGeed yeah I get that but record is the last thing I look at when I try to analyze BY year or any rookie really. I get the team sucked. Mike Tomlin paired with Joe Burrow would have struggled to get more than 9 wins with that team.
@@VileGeed Because Peyton wasn't at that GOAT level yet and his supporting cast wasn't good enough where he understands how to dissect a defense pre-snap and calling a buckton of audibles. In a pure pocket QB performance level, he was pretty solid if you look at INTs as a bad stat with noise that isn't related purely on the QB. Whereas sacks as a negative stat (absolute drive killer) is definitely more on the QB yet Peyton as a rookie only took 22.
@@t4d0W I agree with you. I just thought it would be worthwhile pointing out that most successful QB’s just don’t hit the ground running. Stroud is the anomaly and not Bryce
Panthers fan here and it wasnt better than you think it was just flat out awful not much to take away from it. Everytime he had a bright moment he took 2 steps back the next week. Houston and Green bay were his best games and the game after houston he threw 2 pick 6's against indy and debatably his worst game of the season. Green bay was probably his best game but then the next week we got shut out he looked terrible against jacksonville we lost 26-0 he had 112 yards and an interception and looked like he had never played football before so basically nothing to take away from his good games bc he didnt build on them he went backwards after every decent moment he had. I didnt expect him to throw 5k yards and 30 tds but i didnt think he would have more turnovers than scores and showed nothing that proves hes going to be a good quarterback. I hope he does he is the guy i wanted us to draft i even bought his jersey last offseason but he has a long way to go. If he resembles any of what he did last year this season he wont be starting for us year 3. If we have a top 5 pick the next year we are taking a quarterback.
How does Bryce get the opportunity to have more scores when the Panthers defense was injured and not up to par which then led the offense on a passing script? Not to mention the coaching staff on offense an the roster talents on offense was ass. Bryce would end up getting 3rd and long situations because the run game was also ass (for overpaying Miles Sanders). You are literally asking a small QB whose not an athletic runner to make miracles and to move the ball in the air with receivers who can't separate. That is not how you beat man coverage where I bet most defenses were happy to sit against Bryce in those passing downs.
Anyone can create a highlight reel for a qb that played almost all season. But watching the whole season, most of the season he looked overwhelmed and gun-shy. He's just too undersized and not enough velocity in his deep passing.
If you didn't watch the season or multiple games a lot wasn't his fault he literally had the most interior pressures in the league and wrs couldn't separate when you get hit a lot and running for your life you kinda look overwhelmed
@@johnlara9400 Yeah, he holds onto the ball too long, hardly ever makes throws on timing routes. Not letting the line off the hook, but he has no confidence in throwing. He's partly to blame for the pressure. He just doesn't have the physical attributes to be successful in the NFL
For a college oline it was pretty solid. Def not up to usual bama standards which is what made bryce's success that much more impressive, and part of why he was the highest regarded bama qb ever coming into a draft.
"Big boy arm"... nah. These "big boy throws" are NFL table stakes that any QB in the league can hit. The best just hit them much more often. Bryce's arm strength is below average compared to NFL QBs. It is what it is.
You’re 100% correct. You can pull a few minutes of game manager type highlights for any NFL quarterback and make them look better than they really are. The tools are important in the NFL, hence why Anthony Richardson was taken so high. Bryce just doesn’t have them
You can tell how strong a qb's arm is by how well they can throw an out route, it has to get to the receiver with velocity or there is a good chance the db will jump on it
I don’t understand. It seems like you cherry picked 5 positive plays and then extrapolated your conclusion based on that. Look, I pray Bryce rebounds next season. This is the NFL, and we weren’t even the worst team in the league when we got him. When the Reich staff was assembled, a larger contingency of fans and insiders were singing their praises. The Panthers were widely viewed as the best situation for a rookie QB. But wait. Turns out that coaching staff sucked and the entire offense sucked too. Did it? Bryce was historically bad in certain advanced metrics that indicate he’s not only a bust, but in the conversation for biggest bust ever. This is the nfl, and it amazes me that a group of professionals had a toss up and decided to got with a 5’ 8” QB. His ball mechanics, footwork, arm strength, and deep ball are riddled with problems.
How do we know that the good passes you've highlighted here are more representative than his bad throws? Feels like you're giving him grace you wouldn't give others. I guess we will find out
I'm not saying they did or did not do this but a lot of breakdowns, video or article, of players that are after the rookie season are still based on pre draft analysis. Whatever side of the fence you were on pre draft, you're probably staying on that side until it's abundantly obvious you were wrong. You're going to hone in on the things that line up with what you thought would make him good or bad. Which is honestly how it should be. If you were high or low on a prospect, 18 weeks isn't enough time to make a final conclusion.
I think it’s possible with a lot of work and with the right pieces around him that he can be OK. But you don’t trade the farm to move up to number one to take “OK” when CJ Stroud was sitting there.
Alright. I actually watch this video, and I will admit he looks decent. He’s gonna have to give me atleast 2 good season before I give him any credit. This dudes mad small. If this dude was on the Texas last yr I doubt he would have had a good season.
Complete bust If this kid sucks again this season he is gone. The o-line is not at fault, he holds onto the ball too long and doesn't use his feet. No doubt he had extra time at Alabama and that allowed him to get too comfortable thinking he had all day
It was what it was. A rookie season. Wasnt terrible, but not the best start for your NFL career. I hate Bryce Young but Panthers made some great moves this off season they will be a better team going forward hopefully before any type of injury

@@KINGLEGION. Based on last year's overall performance and not 7 plays randomly picked for a video - footwork, weak arm/inaccurate downfield throws, small stature, late trigger, holding the ball too long... 5. We'll see what happens this season but again, he sucked last year, full stop.
And again, more excuses. That's weak.
As a panthers fan I’m appreciate you shedding a positive light on him. Not a lot of people are giving the guy a chance and just wanna bash him
It will take BY all year to replicate what ever good he did from this video. He’s on bust watch
Calling his supports “Putrid. Stinky. Cheeks.” Got me rolling
This has aged like milk/
Excellent video, TF. Love it, love it, love it. Those flashes, that talent, the strength, it's all still there. I had concerns that maybe my Panthers broke him, but you have assuaged me. The future is now for Bryce and Dave. May they become a QB/Coach Duo of legend.
😂 delusion is a hell of a drug
Dawg I’m sorry but his size is not a concern at all and that’s why they went out there and got Dave canales to help Bryce and fix his footwork get into his drop faster get the ball out faster but I respect what your saying I think Bryce is gonna be perfectly fine imo
BY may very well turn it around and be a decent QB, but if it was possible to snap his fingers and grow to 6'3+, BY would do it in a heartbeat.
Why do you think that is? Height equals better physical vision.
Brees, at a taller height, didn't stand on his toes and crane his neck every snap for the fun of it.
na dude he is still 5'10
Other then u saying u still concerned about his size and batted balls great video! He proved to be more durable then people said and the batted ball statement is not accurate
That throw at 4:35 was incredible.
This analysis didn't age well.
Did you watch the video?
Yeah he's got faults and flaws, and some that might stop him from being a franchis QB, but he was far from awful
The story will continue once they are playing actual football in the coming months.
i watched every game as a panther fan and actually it was worse than you think. I've seen high school QBs with stronger arms
DJ will help him out. I've never seen any corner clamp up Dionate. He's the best route runner in the league period.
If only he had hands he'd be one of the very best WRs in the league
@@ThinkingFootball Your right hes great but due to that hes like one of the better 1bs in the league
also the problem was WR separation and diontae is only 27 and one of the best route runners in the leagues hes so similar to calvin ridley acctually
great vid tho bryce will bounce back
Fair point about the hands.
Actually Jaycee Horn had him on clamps until Horn had to switch off and guard Pickens
@@40EastTrill We didn't even play Carolina bro.
Y’all wish y’all had CJ Stroud so bad lol 😂
yup, fans here are pissed. enjoy him Texans this stupid ass owner Tepper set this team back a decade. This gonna go down as one of greatest "busts" ever. Imagine if Ryan Leaf was #1 pick ahead of Peyton instead of #2 behind him. Yup Panthers fans never gonna live this one down.
Love the content, can you do a vid breaking down Devon Witherspoon’s rookie year ?
Solid analysis. It's refreshing to watch someone look at a player from an even standpoint, as opposed to making rash judgements and thinking that they are cooking after 4 snaps.
i am concerned about the strength
@@jmgonzales7701 He's a tiny guy, for sure, but he has avoided injuries. Even at Alabama, he missed 2 games, I believe, and that was due to falling awkwardly on his arm. They put some good guys at the guard and center positions. He doesn't have to be enormous if the new line means he isn't touched.
@@justinwilliams1127 there will alwayz be injuries. They shouldnt have trusted a midget qb, he can avoid all the hits until he gets hit one time and its over.height mattes snd id weight
@@jmgonzales7701 so what drew Bree’s and Russel Wilson were undersized and hofs
Facts so many ppl saying he’s trash he was in the worst situation possible last year 😭
I get his size concerns will always be there since its just physics with these collisions, but batted balls were not even remotely a problem. Thats just cap from someone running out of steam trying to finish their video. Id do that too if i had to watch those panthers snaps again
Thank for giving Brice the great Breakdown. So many Panthers fan give him a hard time. I excited to see him prove the wrong.
Finally someone who doesn’t want to crucify the man I mean my goodness I get he’s a no.1 pick but the amount of hate is crazy and I was against the pick at the time but he’s proven to me he’s got it, I saw him in person, training camp, pre season and regular season I like the leader we got now
Rewriting history, I live in charlotte those sacks were brutal
What are your thotughs on the Dave Canales hire? The general around him is hes a very good pass game coordinator and helped revive geno (qb coach) and baker (OC) i wanted to get some insight on his creativity/designs
Holy shit
This kinda stuff is exactly why it ticks me off when analysts talk so much about QB
We'll be great next season
🤣😂
He really didn’t have that many batted passes. The previous year Baker had like 3 or more per game lol.
I always felt like as long as he was healthy he would be fine. I'm not a fan or a hater just really neutral. Give him some weapons and a line and Carolina may have something. Just hoping everybody's wrong on my team's QB 😅
#KingBryceOTW🤴🏾
Joe burrow took a 2 win bengals team to the superbowl 😊
Carolina added so many good pieces on offense. Hell, bounc back.
Kanales worked wonders for Baker. No reason to think he cant help Young improve too.
You know he loves his offensivelineman.
Everybody keeps gaslighting me into thinking bryce was good when he was historically bad in every metric. Yeah he showed flashes, but consistency is the name of the game. I just don't see it with this guy and never have but who knows I could be eating crow come next year
Who’s here after he started cooking.
Just want to say thanks again for CMC :P
I don't care if this ages like wine or milk, Bryce gonna show the doubters wrong
8:55 will this tackle be illegal next season Oo?
Stroud elevated a bunch of nobodies while Bryce pulled everyone down to his level.
you and AlexRollinsNFL gotta have beef over this
This is a classic case of “A QB is only as good as the supporting cast surrounding him”.
Yeah because Patrick Mahomes #1 weapon from scrimmage was, drum roll, a 7th round RB.
Great QBs elevate talent. Good QBs get elevated by surrounding talent. Bad QBs sink talent.
@@WerdUp13 you forgot about Travis Kelce?
@@byufan No I didn't. Kelce is still a good player but he is not the beast he once was. He didn't get 1000 yards and only had 5 TDs.
Pacheco lead the team with 1100+ yards and 9TDs. He was their most productive weapon.
I don't think he gets enough credit considering he only threw 10 ints with everything that was going on around him.
hardly any qbs nowadays throw a ton of picks
Very good video! Also your voice is epic and could narrate NfL films too - I hope BY is successful but my fake nfl draft expertise believed the Panthers wouldn’t be successful with him due to poor ownership -
The juxtaposition with Stroud makes it seem like he is a bust but look at Peyton’s rookie year hella guys flopped their rookie year
P Manning broke rookie records though...
@@WerdUp13 sure but still 3-13. From one of the goats
Stroud is the anomaly and not Bryce
yo why this dude got a nice voice for commentary
good video but Bryce did not have that many batted balls last year
Aged great
We have this idea that if a rookie qb isn't top 10 with a winning record they are a bust. People forget these top picks are going to awful teams.
I’m still not impressed. He has to ball out this year to prove me wrong
He's gonna be a good quarterback, not a bust at all! Panthers just really really suck
Lol... Top 10 graded pass blocking OL and WRs constantly getting separation through 2 weeks and BY looks even worse.
The line at Bama was not stout. It was pretty inconsistent and at times it was pretty bad
Bryce just doesn’t have them
You have no idea how strong his arm is.
I keep Telling People This
Correct me if I’m wrong did you just say he got the big boy arm on 20 yard pass and his deepest throw was 48 yards
You can tell how strong a qb's arm is by how well they can throw an out route, it has to get to the receiver with velocity or there is a good chance the db will jump on it
arm strength is way more than just throwing the ball far, lil bro
Yeah wins are not a QB stat unless you are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Patrick Mahomes.
Yea, take this down bruh 😂
Bro had literally NO help. Adam theilen is an okay reciever at best every body else was garbage 😂
They need to give him some help
Panthers had a terrible OL and below average weapons at best. No #1 pick can save you with that
Bruh you late. They fixed all of that
Lolol....
How do we know that the good passes you've highlighted here are more representative than his bad throws? Feels like you're giving him grace you wouldn't give others. I guess we will find out
What benefit would I gain from that?
We're here to make NFL fans smarter, I don't care about pushing a narrative
I'm not saying they did or did not do this but a lot of breakdowns, video or article, of players that are after the rookie season are still based on pre draft analysis.
Whatever side of the fence you were on pre draft, you're probably staying on that side until it's abundantly obvious you were wrong. You're going to hone in on the things that line up with what you thought would make him good or bad.
Which is honestly how it should be. If you were high or low on a prospect, 18 weeks isn't enough time to make a final conclusion.
Too many Stan's here. Maybe the tiny dude Just ain't him. Ever crossed your mind ?
As a bears fan, thank you for drafting Bryce over Stroud so we could get Caleb
Better hope Caleb >>> Stroud and Bryce lol
I think it’s possible with a lot of work and with the right pieces around him that he can be OK. But you don’t trade the farm to move up to number one to take “OK” when CJ Stroud was sitting there.
Lol don't you look like quite the ironic hipster now...
Someone didn't watch the whole video 🤣
seems like a hot take clickbait video to get views. his season was terrible.
they are forgetting how bryce is literally a play by coach player. when it gets rough he does cave.. this year will prove it
Alright. I actually watch this video, and I will admit he looks decent. He’s gonna have to give me atleast 2 good season before I give him any credit. This dudes mad small. If this dude was on the Texas last yr I doubt he would have had a good season.
Yeah, but, we could have had CJ Stroud..
Complete bust
If this kid sucks again this season he is gone.
