  • The Museum of Radio and Technology is located in Huntington, West Virginia and houses an amazing collection of radios, TV's, broadcast gear and computers. I've visited twice and the docents have gone above and beyond to demonstrate and educate each time.

God! Been following you since you made FETs in your oven, I was only a high schooler at the time. Now I'm graduate student in EE and you were my inspiration to go into this field, along with Dave and Mike.
Love your content! please make more videos!

Some old B&W TVs in the 70's had live metal fold down chassis, (240 VAC here) I remember hanging out at the tv repair shop, and the old fella there servicing the rear of these valve tvs (with a big long mirror hanging on the wall so he could see the front of the screen while tweaking in the back) told me what not to touch while I was helping (I was only 10) and would save all the big old resistors, and waxy caps he'd clip out and replace (even though they were probably duds, they were "treasure" to me). :)

I am an old Man...with a young mind.. I was made aware of you and your work thru a short encounter at .. I don't know.. Atlanta??.. Not sure.. but we talked of back engineering and you blew my mind... after that.. u went off radar.. made me worry like you were my own kid (yes, I am that old).. I just found it unusual to find another human that took stuff apart to find it's origins ... When you fell off the map.. what 2 years..? I was typing search several times a year //I am just happy to know you are alive and well.. you are brilliant.. That's what many want, but only a few can buy... you are a creator. !! Innovative human.. unmatched, and I was so glad to find a 2 mo. vid with you at the radio museum !!
Felt like home.. I was a Mil-Hamm kid. .key a Mic>>> i peed red white and blue.. ha
Thanks for that tour thru my own childhood.. !
    KB4CBT..jr. out.

Nice to see you again! One of the morse code keys that I have is the same as the one on the spark gap transmitter - made my Signal Electric. Having chassis ground wasn't the problem - it was the ones that the chassis could be "hot" that were more dangerous. Another dangerous series of sets used a special resistive line cord to provide a voltage drop for the ballast string so that the radio didn't need a transformer. These radios were later given the infamous name "curtain burners" for obvious reasons.

*Wow! Excellent!* 👍 I started SWLing (shortwave listening) about 2 years ago as a hobby. Lately, I've been reading about the history and development of radio and broadcasting; shortwave, AM (medium wave), and FM. Nikola Tesla, Guglielmo Marconi, Lee de Forest, Edwin Howard Armstrong, etc... It's fascinating. Unfortunately, I know zilch about electronics. Thank you for this video about this museum. Cheers! Bob 😎📻📶
