The fact that sam actually said sorry to william really warmed my heart. I'll never get to see that in my family. If anyone's at fault it's automatically on the child, but it's ok I'm used to it anyway. If I ever had a family on my own, I'll say sorry to my kids if I'm on the wrong. Good job for acknowledging your mistakes sam!
Your comment is actually relatable. Most parents (atleast mine) think that they are correct just because they are "elders" and wouldn't apologize even if they're in the wrong, as that would be disrespectful for themselves. Well that's a typical Asian family for you..

I'm so happy that Sam reached out and asked what's wrong... Last time my dad offended me and hurt me badly so I stopped talking to him for nearly 3 weeks and yet he never once even asked me what's wrong. Only my mom did.

@moonUT kids usually have limited vocabulary and therefore can't identify the emotions and express those feelings through words. It's kinda rare to see a kid that age put his feelings into words and reasons that precisely, normally they would just show emotions by actions, throw a tantrum or sulking in the corner etc

When William spilled the milk I was soooo surprised that he didn't cry by the sudden surprise. Instead, he got up and told his dad that he spilled the milk. He's very mature it makes my heart break for some reason (I'm not saying the dad has bad parenting or anything. I just feel weird today and somehow that thought came up)

These two are blessed to have Sam as their father. -and Sam is blessed to have children like William and Ben. Rachel L feel sorry for Sam. Ben obviously need more attention cuz he’s a baby at the moment, but it’s usually only stuff that he can’t do. But when it comes to playing it’s William that needs more attention, and just looking at William personality you can tell he needs more attention he’s the type you have to be physical with. Honestly I think it will be better when Ben reaches William age. Cuz that’s when Ben can do stuff himself.

Let's take kpop idols, k netz are Always complaining or badmouthing some idols. Last Time i was talking with a korean whom works in a child cafe and she told me that koreans don't like the family of naeun and gunhoo (sorry if i mispelled). That they see naeun as too bratty, when there's TROS on TV all the people in her café watch it but when there's naeun they aren't interested anymore and go back to do something else.

i cried watching this because as the oldest of two i get how william was feeling. growing up, my mom always paid attention to my brother and my dad was always working. i felt alone even at school because i was left out there too. whatever it was, i always had to give up to my brother, including my parents' attention. even now as a 15 year old, i sometimes feel hurt and lonely when i don't get the same attention and affection from my parents. however, i understand that they don't really realize it, and it's not their fault. it's hard being a parent, so i don't blame my parents and i'm sure william is the same way.
im sorry you felt that way but you must talk with your parents about it. its really important and if you dont tell they wont know. please. I know someday they'll realize.

William has such a high emotional intelligence. It’s amazing that he’s able to express his hurt because Sam was inadvertently paying more attention to Bentley. It helped Sam understand what he was doing wrong.
The way William talks is so mature. Like when he stop wearing diaper and peed himself he said he wants to be a good example for Bentley.
William’s way of communicating is so good at such his age, imo. Maintaining eye contact and say what he feels. I think that’s good.

Willam being able to talk about his feeling shows how good of a parent Sam and his wife are they let his express himself, because we know most of us were brought up in a family were we didn’t have that environment to talk about our feelings and it still is very difficult for us to express ourselves to our family..
Also, this episode made me realize that when we have another child we automatically expect the older one to act mature like be patient, be more responsible etc etc, without considering there age or how they feel. I hope when i have a child i’ll be able to consider my child’s feeling and let them act their age rather than expecting them to act all mature just because they have a younger siblings now..

This is a proof that an eldest child gets lesser attention whenever there is a younger baby around. Like William I was bound to be more understanding for the sake of the younger one but sometimes parents don't realize that we are still kids that needs proper attention to grow.
But in my case..its me (the youngest) get neglected... They gave all of attention to my older brother ( i have 2 siblings including me)
It's proof because it's necessary. And it's not that he gets a lack of attention, but just in relative terms less attention. Sam has done so many things FOR HIM and just for him whether it be experiences of fulfiling wishes. He's just not used to the fact that Bentley needs attention because he's younger.
There's no perfect parent but some people in the CS seem to think they are perfect parents. (not you, not attacking you)

I love how honest william is with his feelings. I myself is an adult now but i still find it hard to voice out my feelings to someone.
I feel sad for william. He always give up for his younger brother bentley but sometimes his dad always does not acknowledge him. Sam always wanted that william be a good big brother but he is still a kid and he still need love, attention and affection coming for his father. This kind of parenting may affect for his personality when he goes older.
“This kind of parenting” we only see a portion of their lives. This time we saw a brother jealous because he wanted attention. That is very normal.
Saying to be a good big brother is normal thing, that mostly all parents tell their first born. And as you saw, William told Sam why he was upset. This is a healthy response, so I don’t see how William will be affected?
Yeah I agree but honestly I think they have pretty good communication that will solve most issues as they happen. I guarantee most children of that age would absolutely not talk about what’s making them upset. It’s likely a skill that Sam taught him to have. The fact that Sam taught him to say what’s upsetting him rather than to sulk as well as the fact that Sam does apologize and try to make up for his mistakes shows me that although the family will have struggles, William will be able to remember some of the memories as happier learning experiences than as sad times.

William is so articulate. He expresses his feelings really well for his age. It just shows how his parents are open and receptive to his thoughts and ideas. I grew up as an introvert with low self esteem. Until now, I’m struggling because of the repercussions of my childhood experiences. From where I’m from, it’s rare to see parents like Sam who listens well to his children and apologizes for his mistakes. It’s usually physical punishment and screams and complaints when a child behaves like William. It’s good to see that parents like Sam exist. ❤️
I know how William feels. I was so used to being the youngest that got all the attention, then my 2 younger sisters where born I had to adjust to getting less attention. It wasn’t easy but my parents luckily made sure that we all felt loved. It’s good that Sam is listening to his kids feelings and not brushing them off. He’s a good father ❤️
This really made me cry hard. I wish My parents are half as understanding as Sam. Growing up in a household where small mistakes can cause you a beating is really hard. You can't tell them your side of the story without being accused of talking back to your elders.

“Is the first who brought happiness” seems kind of wrong. Because he’s the first he’s not used to not getting his parents undivided attention. It’s not that they aren’t paying attention to him, it’s that with two children sometimes you’ll pay more attention to one more than the other, and as a child he just doesn’t understand that. But it doesn’t mean that Sam should put Bentleys needs aside either.
