It's always my number one purchase in Japan when I got off the plane (alongside with milk). It's not an exaggeration, unless it's an imitation of the same type of recipe of the egg sandwich (which are still inferior because of the quality of eggs), no other egg sandwiches with simple ingredients come even close in taste (often even pricier than the JP version).

Eggs are naturally safe, everywhere. The salmonella bacteria might be located on the outside of an egg, and almost never on the inside. EU does NOT wash their eggs, while the US does; therefore the eggs have to be refrigerated in the US, since the natural protective film is washed off.

It is not just about the surface. Salmonella could infect a hen's ovaries which would then be transmitted to inside her eggs.
Japan does actually wash eggs but avoids disease outbreaks with cleanliness rules, by locking hens up, by doing regular testing and by sterilising any farm where it has been discovered.

Im so thankful that there are Family Mart, Ministop and Lawson here in the Philippines. Although Family Mart is a little bit pricey compared to 7/11 and Ministop, their store food are tiers above 7/11 and Ministop (except for the chicken)

as a Canadian that got fed raw egg and milk blended with sugar as a kid by my mom, I had got a shock when I did it in front of my friends one day. Grossed them out and they gave me the semolina line. I was like dude I've been doing this since I was 4 years old, it's cool. They still think I'm crazy but man raw egg in milk is like candy to me

If you have airtight storage containers you can at least stock up on non-perishable items / extend the freshness of non-perishable items. You can also make cubes of oil & herbs for future dishes you cook at home by chopping up the herbs and mixing it with your choice of oil in an ice cube tray to use at a later date. Not only does it preserve the herbs for future use but it's ready to use for whatever you're cooking. Also there's nothing wrong with cooking a big portion and eating it throughout the week if you don't want to cook something else for a while. Not to say you can't just cook something different for the other meals of the day but you can get by with cooking at least a big dinner that'll last you a few days. Coming from a low-income family, I've learned that cooking at home is a lot more convenient and you know exactly what is going in your food when you cook it. Which is probably for the best for someone who might not be adjusted to the cuisine differences which'll also help with culture shock / home sickness. But that's just my mini tangent lol. Save your money!!!

Fun fact the UK actually has the safest eggs in the world. The food standards in the UK are so high that the EU and Japan pretty much just copied the guidelines and rules. Also the reason they say you shouldn't eat raw eggs in the UK is because you can still get food poisoning because salmonella isn't the only thing that can give food poisoning, so they say as a precaution to prevent people from falling sick. They just say its cause of salmonella because its easily understood.

You can get mayo that is the same as Japanese mayo most places I've been in Europe, except the MSG, which might make the Japanese one taste slightly better, I've not been in the UK before though, so I'm not sure if this type of mayo isn't on offer there.
For clarity's sake, the difference to common white mayo is that Japanese mayo only uses the yolk, vinegar and msg.
Yolk gives it a yellow hue and makes it creamier, most produced mayos nowdays use vinegar, but Japanese mayo uses local ones like rice vinegar, not necessarily something that makes it taste better, but different, and msg is just a flavour enhancer.
If you want a similar experience at least in France, Poland, Germany, Denmark and Italy you can find brands selling mayo that's made the same way, usually without the MSG though, so it's not a particularly Japanese thing to have this type of condiment.

Prefacing this as one who has not read all the comments so I might be repeating something and that no one may really care: I live in the western U.S. and the vegetable they refer to as "Shallot" is known as "green onion" at least in the state I live in. A "Shallot" ( at least in the state I live in) is a large bulb grown in ground, with a mild onion taste.

Just on tomatoes, because I fucking love tomatoes, here’s the two things I do - buy like cherry or baby plum tomatoes and have them in sandwiches or salads, they’re fucking dope and they’re usually much sweeter without all the juice and seeds that big plum or beef tomatoes have and if you do end up with the big tomatoes or only use half your bag of small ones, buy a blender (even a stick blender which are like… $10 or less) and you have a great base for making pasta sauce, curry, bolognese etc
