      Picasso became a child star, known for his incredible technique and for being able to replicate any painting, until he invented cubism. This painting, for example, represents evolution and the cycle of life. He first paints chromosomes or cells, then a plant, then a fish, then an animal (a chicken), and the last one is death.

      @@x0lct998 This is taken far out of context. First the man could not clone Velazquez at age 19, not even close. Frankly for a guy who started learning how to paint at age 7 from his father, who was a very solid painter in his own right, his work at 19 isn't very impressive. It's not like the guy had been painting for a month and started making masterpieces. To be fair, virtually all artists take years and a lot of hard work to develop real skills. Picasso never developed them, he had no interest in it, and there's nothing wrong with that, but to put his skill at 19 next to Velazquez is utterly ridiculous, Picasso never got as good as his father when it comes to realistic representational art much less Velazquez. Stop bullshitting people with that tired ass argument.

Dancing on the canvas to create a conflict of emotion. The dark romantic reds, the clear fresh blues. Such a brave choice of colour palette that really draws the eye in. Almost hypnotises whoever is fortunate enough to experience this art in person. Questions the deeper meaning of the soul and when you walk away from this painting you almost leave with it a small piece of who you are. Truly remarkable. Estimated value? Priceless.

It's like...a filmmaker purposefully makes a shit movie, and everyone's like "It's a masterpiece. It's supposed to be bad. It was by design." Like...what? I don't care if they made it bad on purpose, that doesn't make it good. 🤣 But it seems more prevalent in art. Especially performance art. My god.

      Ummm, that was the point of his work. He always aspired to paint as loosely and as inventively as a child, for it is the child artist that is the purest artist (meaning free of pretention, pressure.) It is therefore no mistake that his work often has a childlike quality to it. That doesn't mean his work is bad or no better than a child's finger paintings. It simply means that he was willing to be different. And given that he was a virtuoso artist from very early on in his life, I think he more than earned the right.

    The beauty is that this work is preserved as a filmic medium creating it a pure form of collaboration between Picasso and the director, Henri-Georges Cluzot.

      Nah man, read the comments. Picasso was just trolling everybody by making his art nonstop for like 80 years. Clearly he was just joking, if it’s not Bob Ross creating a realistic Alaskan landscape 5000 times it’s a prank. Idk about you but these comments thinking Picasso himself considered this a masterpiece are hilarious to me. Nothing wrong with realism, but I’m glad you’re comfortable going the route that inevitably draws more criticism from the average person, it’s way more rewarding at the end of the day. Just looking at Picasso’s Blue Period, he was extremely depressed when he confined himself to what’s taught and traditional. No one bought any of it, not because he wasn’t talented, but because it showed no emotion other than depression. Had he not constantly reinvented his methods he wouldn’t be remembered at all. Good luck, being your most authentic, expressive version will make your art something you can one day look back at without any hint of shame. 🙂

      Picasso became a child star, known for his technique and for being able to replicate any painting, until he invented cubism. This painting, for example, represents evolution and the cycle of life. He first paints chromosomes or cells, then a plant, then a fish, then an animal (a chicken), and the last one is death.

  • @nervouscooks
    @nervouscooks ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I love reading the comments here with such strong reactions both good and bad. I think the term genius is a strong title to give anyone but I feel that if it applies here it’s because his work goes way beyond the final product. I think he is a genius because he lived the way he wanted without compromising and still managed to achieve recognition. I’m not mentioning fame or money as they are unimportant as far as creating art goes. I think if you make a piece of art and your thought process is about money then you have failed already. I understand some people have made lots of money from their work but it should never be the intention behind the work. There aren’t many people in life who can truly create just for themselves and still achieve a huge amount of recognition. For me personally that’s his genius, the ability to do whatever you feel with complete freedom, confidence and still achieve success. I personally love his work and it is a lot harder than you think to have his technical ability (see his early work), reach a very high standard of painting in a realistic fashion and then go back and essentially un-learn that skill or break the rules if you prefer. If you’re a novice then it’s easy to be crude and childlike as you don’t have the skill to do any better, but he has that skill and then seeks a more naive approach. Not only is that technically difficult but incredibly forward thinking for the time. It’s hard for any of us living now in this day and age to realise how different his work would have been in those days alongside other pioneering artists. His impact on art, graphic design and everything in between is so ingrained in our culture that’s it’s easy to just see the simplified childlike work and make a quick judgement upon it. I think that is one of the reasons soo many people come to have a greater appreciation for his work when they realise he could paint like a photograph if he chose to. It somehow justifies his later work. Another thing to keep in mind is that he was an explorer, someone willing to try different things and push boundaries. Even if you don’t like his work you have to give him credit for opening up a whole world of experimentation for artists around the globe. He gave us all a ticket to be free and actually have fun whilst we are working! If you like art but have maybe dismissed his work, spend some time at one of the many museums/galleries that house some of his paintings and you might just be surprised what you learn about him. 🙂

      @nabub2362 4 ปีที่แล้ว +129

      @@juanthi3745 Yes, definitely misunderstood. Picasso, Miro, Malevich all could paint like Renaissance masters. You can find their early works. What happened is, humanity progressed and photography was invented. So painting like real life was no longer was the hot thing-because photographs could do it better anyway. So they explored the idea of simplicity. You can draw a a chicken like a classical painter but for example for picasso, if you can understand that is a chicken by just lines, why do it otherwise? And dont forget all the other things going around in the world, all the scientific progress, philosophy etc. Painters did not want to paint like 500 years ago. Just as scientists did not want to experiment like 500 years ago. People often forget the era, and think like I can paint like them. Then do it. It doesnt matter now. Nobody will notice. But at that time, it was revolutionary. Art was almost same for 1000 years and it needed a change. Like it or not. And for all people saying I can do that, please do try. 99% of you will not. Because making a drawing/painting abstract requires a solid painting foundation. You cannot simplify a thing unless you know it very well.

      To be honest, Picasso started off as a "normal" type of artist painting the typical portfolio of a typical art student, but to him it wasn't original, to be original he had to push the form beyond Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne, Matisse, Monet etc he had to "move" it forward to next level to be an original, therefore overtime he developed his cubist style which despite what you think is actually extraordinary high in the philosophy and theory of painting as it relates to human nature, interior, design, architecture, psychology, politics, propaganda, etc, his work may seem childish but in fact it is extremely difficult to achieve his work without being a genius operating of a level of higher consciousness with a high mind for the philosophy of painting, Picasso like all "masters" are philosophers first painters second they are just philosopher of painting as opposed to philosophers of language and mind such as Wittgenstein, painting is how they express their philosophical beliefs as opposed to academic papers such as Tractatus Logico Philosophicus, this painting in this video I agree is not his best and I wouldn't consider it however it is a Picasso and due to his other masterpieces and reputation it therefore has value, and to label his style 6th grand is ridiculous you obviously never seen the Guernica if you think such, I suggest researching his work and educating yourself in the metaphysics of painting to really appreciate the work of Picasso.

      @Natalie Wayne modern art more focus on expressing passion than follow a rule of beauty. That's why renaissance painting and modern painting so different, because renaissance painting follow the rule of beauty. Also what makes a painting is valuable isn't just about the paint, but who made the paint. Because, paint just like a history of experience of the painter. That's why if you see Pablo Picasso painting when he was 17th you would know how experience can change painter.
