As a young mother of 6 I used to drive my kids (and friends) often into San Francisco from the East Bay. We had one of 6 buses over the years. Nothing is more impressive than me driving changing gears up and down those streets and the stopping and starting on a steep hill with cars right next to me, front and back. I loooove the old buses. If VW would bring it back again, I would buy it.
1964 my parents moved from Detroit to San Francisco in a VW Bus ... .. they put my brother and sister in a playpen in the the Bus. Safety! FYI my parents are not hippies ... pretty sure in the era they would have been called “squares”.
Pops had the type 2 pickup he'd drive us to our boat in to go fishing at the Coronado Isaland in Mexican waters in 1958. I had my hands full reeling in 20lb yellowtail at 6 years old. My mom said she thought the vein were gunna pop out my neck. 😊
I know there’s a 23 window model, but regardless, you are right! There’s definitely some value here. I’m not much more knowledgeable, but I would love one for my eclectic collection!! 😂.

I wish that Volkswagen made a modern day version of those that have the same look and feel of their old vans, but still have the same features. The modern car has maybe even electric
One more addition to my previous comment. Also, our 23 window also had chrome bumpers. We drove from New Jersey to California in ‘74 and saw other buses but never saw another like ours. It also had a small AC put in after factory.

The square shape makes the inside feel so roomy. Like a school bus! The seats look very luxurious and comfy. The steering wheel, not so much, since it appears to be made out of solid metal that would really hurt.
The best part of that dash is no electronics. No need for all the high tech gadgets. The T1 and T2 VDubs and and any other car or truck built back then had the best designs in their dashes. Open air and the sound of the engine is all you ever need.

Just saw a 21 window go for $151K. It’s insane how much the old VWs are bringing at the moment.
no, itcs only insane how much the idiots are willing to list them for. there's literally zero valid reason to price it that high, other than scamming.
Huh, I thought they all came with flowers painted on from the factory…
Literally a work of art, they don’t make ‘em how they used to be
I know it's crazy how we got a cool badass bus but now we get a vw golf

All VW Transporters are the best van ever. Other manufactures try to make vans but VW stay at the top. It is a fact

The 23 window model has 2 small curbed windows in the rear pillars. Those are the rarest and I believe go for 6 figures in condition like this
