They are just co-workers. Just like any other co-worker, you have those who you are closer to than others. Also, like any other co-workers you can have fun while you're working together, but once you leave the job, you lose your reason for hanging out with them and you drift apart.

Yet here we are. They are no longer speaking. People grow apart. It's life. For the record, you can be fond of co-workers as well. I'm sure he has fond memories of his time with them and the same for the others though.
It's how divorce works too right? Divorces happen and the relationship dies. You care and sometimes not even that but you grow distant for sure. It saddened me too but even if they were in touch he wouldn't mention it publicly yet. It would put EXO's reputation on line considering how K-netizens are always ready to attack. Just saying. Sigh. I wish though.
I think the communication was also cut off because of the company. It wouldnt be right if the members communicate to someone who has a lawsuit in the company they are working with.
I will always remember and love my ot12, and I hope no one take this badly; but I'm happy because I know my dear Kris is happy now. And I'm sure that the guys are happy for him, too. Always Loving you and Supporting you my galaxy.

I’m so happy for Kris because I know what he trying to say. In Exo show time you could see her face that he wasn’t happy to be in the group. And I don’t know why people surprise that he doesn’t talk with Exo, I mean it was been 4 years. But seriously thanks to Smtown and Exo he is more recognized. Kris fighting!

As a EXO fan since 2012, I also want to know the 'real' reason why he left, if he still has a contact to the other members, if he was really happy during 'that' time, if he still listen to the old and new songs of EXO, and if he never regret joining the group. Because, until now I'm still hurting. We (EXO members and EXO fans) still hurting. I know it's hard for him to answer that questions, but I'm thankful for him because he still answered that questions. If I have given the chance to ask him a questions, I will do it. Because I believe that it will help me to heal my wounded heart. Everyone's heart.
Imo, Chanyeol (EXO member) still can't move on from the past. You can feel it on his new song. The one he wrote and performed on their recent concert.

It's understandable that people ask though it's been years since the ex members left and none of them are really allowed to talk about it. There are so many unanswered questions that will probably never be answered. Kris has only recently talked about it in interviews and I don't see the problem here? The interviewer was really polite, no one was uncomfortable and she did not pry any further. The whole conversation was chill and Kris was cool about it. The important thing here is we know all 12 of them are doing well and we will keep supporting them as EXO or not.
As a fan who started to stan since OT12 this literally breaks my heart, Yifan you really look happy now. Still, I will support you no matter what.

To be fair, even if he does still talk to them he wouldn't say that he was. Both Kris and the members of EXO would get a lot of flack because of that despite how much most of us want to hear it. I just love to see him so happy and passionate about music and him doing his own thing. He's really enjoying doing what he's doing and I'm proud of him and how far he's come. His English has improved so much. He's always been good at it but being a fan of Kris's for a long time you can't deny that there're been a huge improvement especially in his articulation and vocabulary. Keep doing what you're doing Kris! Looking forward to your album next year and any other works.

Masuprod he was just as fluent but I think he's just more comfortable with speaking it now since he's done spoken it so much recently. And the environment he's in during this interview seems very chill and welcoming. He seems comfortable and not nervous

Guys just chillax... they can't let us know if they talk to each other or not. The only answer he could say is no. Do you understand? There are SM company rules (current members are not allowed to contact ex-members/trainees) and public opinions and fan wars which are ready to blow up anytime. I can imagine what's gonna happen if he answered "yes". That would be really terrible and hurt both sides. They CAN NOT say it. Please don't be upset like it's the end of the world...

Thank you for this interview-kinda thing. I love him so much and I can't stop thinking how happy he must be doing what he wants to do. He was always focused on his freedom and his own persona, and being a part of EXO just would not allow him to evolve. There would be no satisfaction for him, for sure. I love EXO, I really do. I spend 24 hours thinking about them and I am really sad that boys from EXO and Kris don't talk anymore, but this is just how sometimes is. Like you said, Gabby, it's business, they could've stayed on good terms, but considering the circumstances and how Kris departed - no wonder they don't. Life's moving on though. This being said, I am truly truly glad Kris is doing what he deserves to do. Being himself. One thing I'd love is for Kris to never receive questions about EXO in the future. I've been a fan of Kris since exo pre-debut and I could see that he was not happy during exo showtime. In the last episode when Suho was trying to make him get into the water he was like 'I'm a leader?'. Like 'only now do you guys remember that I am a leader too?' I was happy when he left! After that I kinda stop following exo. Because that thing 'we all friends, we know each other so well' in front of the camera but behind is all business, isn't for me.....

As much as I love OT12 and even watch their moments and EXO Showtime from time to time for memories I understand his point. Think of it what you will but the brotherhood you often see is a forced one. Not that he wasn't truly their friend and companion (we can't know about that in depth) but they were still mashed together to form EXO regardless of their feelings towards each other.
Most artists that join these companies do end up like that when all they wanted was to get the exposure and help, you know? To get their music out there and known.
Let's compare: it took Kris to leave SM to be able to do what he wants: write his stuff, make his stuff, basically have artistic freedom, something he had wanted for years from what he's stated. Now look at Chanyeol, someone on the same spectrum. Only recently has he been showing us his music (through SoundCloud) and only recently did he have his own songs out there and in the album! (and I mean full on wrote and composed, not just co-writing).
Kris sped up his process by leaving while Chanyeol is still sadly left back because of the company, and while from a business standpoint I understand, it still bites. During his time with EXO not only did he lack the freedom he wanted, he also had the bare minimum of involvement in M's songs (along with Tao and Xiumin).
He left due to pressure, homesickness and lack of freedom. LuHan left due to illness and overexposure. Tao left due to neglect and mistreatment. All valid reasons, of which should be respected and not be used as leverage to pressure the last chinese member, Lay. Seriously, stop that crap!
Think of them as traitors or opportunists, I'll think of them as human beings that just want to do what they love.

This was such an enjoyable and laid back interview. I really liked the chance to keep up with him, since I don't really follow him anymore. And to people freaking out about the exo questions: exo launched him. He's big in China but new to the States, and exo is known there, therefore, the reference. It's no big deal, she didn't ask anything intrusive and let him talk about how it was shitty for him and why he grew out of it and into his own music and style, his own company, his new projects. No dirty details, no drama, just facts and his history, she was building his profile right there in the interview. Journalism, guys.
