Today is the 24th anniversary of the 1994 earthquake. Here's a look at how it impacted the Santa Clarita Valley - a community cut off from the rest of the metro area.
I’ll never forget I was spending the night across the street at my best friends house. My dad ran over in his tighty whitie underwear to get me at 4am. We thought we got hit by a nuke cause the power plant in Santa Clarita blew up and started glowing green flashing lights throughout the sky. My friends older sisters were upstairs smoking weed and came down all high crying thinking they were being up ducted by aliens. 😂I was 14. Crazy!!!
I grabbed one of our kids and my wife grabbed the other, we ran down the stairs and out the front door. Then I saw the explosion and said “we ‘re under attack”, we ran back through the house and into the back yard. Btw, I was in my boxer shorts. We spent the next week camped in our backyard.
I was barely 14 and living in Saugus. My best friend and I were drinking the night before and he spent the night. I was dreaming that I was in an earthquake while it was happening and my buddy had to wake me up. We were in a 2 story house with a pool. It was crazy
Am I correct in assuming the footage at the beginning was taken from the sky tower at magic mountain pointing towards the Valencia mall?. If so was it surveillance footage? Or from a personal camcorder. By the way at this time I was in northern Santa Barbara county and I felt it that morning
I was 4 when this happened, and I slept through it. I just remember my dad took me outside and had me wrapped in my pink blanket. My mom kept the SCV signal newspapers on the earthquake. Because I was so young I don’t really remember much more. I do remember the aftershocks and my mom playfully told me the house was dancing, and to a 4 year old; that is hilarious 😂
I remember that day really well considering I was 4. I thought someone shoved me off my bed and when I got up my dad came in grabbed me and we ran out the apartment

I remember when I was little back then me and my family planned a visit to Magic Mountain, only for it to be closed after the earthquake.
What did I watch?
