I've watched all 5 seasons of the show, and i can confidently say that the movie is 100x better than the show. The show just has so many bad writing decisions
True! The movie was much better, but for some reason I enjoy the show, though. Probably because there's interactions that weren't shown in the movie. :)
@@weltschmerzistofthaufig2440Adrien being underutilized, Su-Han and the guardians not being involved enough, Ladybug just being OP in comparison to everyone else regarding her powers, Derision's existence in general, the season 5 finale, etc.
@@kenslycarpel3140 Adrien wasn't underutilised; the focus remains on Marinette's arc. Su-Han and the others weren't introduced because Su-Han himself was too indulged in the privileges of modern society to even help Ladybug and Cat Noir. Ladybug isn't overpowered whatsoever; she requires the assistance of Cat Noir and other superheroes frequently. The episode "Derision" excellently portrayed Marinette's trauma and her need to control every possibility in order to not be disappointed again. The season 5 finale made perfect sense since Adrien was always going to be trapped by his father to put him out of harm's way. I don't see any logical problems with these writing decisions.
tbh the movie is definitely better, but I do hope we get more info on ladybugs power in it. As far as the show is concerned with her power, I think its the Miraculous Ladybug that's the issue. Her power is *creation* the lucky charm literally creates stuff, the miraculous ladybug is more re-create. It just makes sense to have her actual power be the lucky charm only. The Miraculous Ladybug also sucks since it's just the magic reset, there's not much stakes in the show since we have the miraculous ladybug. In fact they pretty much nerf the lucky charm by telling us its limits, and in Emotion show us that her lucky charm can just... not work.. That tells me they want to try and add stakes while having their magic reset. Since you need the lucky charm to do miraculous ladybug just limit the middle man so its hard to do the reset. just seems like it'd be a lot simpler if we ONLY had the lucky charm, and they'd write so the city recovers and rebuilds on its own, like they did in the NY special after the senti-robustus attack
The movie has its flaws, but it is at least consistent with its writing. Can't say the same about the show. The show also keeps throwing the same gag of Marinette being flustered around Adrian and it's gotten so old and stale. Now that the reveal happened in the movie I'm more excited to see what happens after.
Yeah, by a landslide, the Movie is definitely better than the Show. Now the Movie isn't flawless it has its fair share of shortcomings but the factor of character and plot development was beautiful with little to no errors. *MARINETTE* - The Movie's portrayal of Marinette was wonderfully done. It showed a nice transition of Marinette's personality from being shy and clumsy to confident was done in a step by step way that wasn't rushed or out of character. I especially like how she wasn't the girl who has to be a good example or fix things, she just got to be Marinette. Her crush on Adrien was much healthier in the Movie. She didn't do anything creepy or crazy, she just built a healthy foundation of friendship with Adrien and slowly worked up to confessing her love while maintaining healthy boundaries. Her friendship with Alya was much healthier too as Alya while helping Marinette be confident, didn't overstep boundaries or try to act like she knew better of what Marinette needed. So there was a lot of healthy communication. Marinette's interaction with Chloe was also much better compared to how destructive and almost borderlining homicide it is in the Show. In the Movie it's like Marinette and Chloe have developed a kind of frenemies dynamic where Chloe respects Marinette for standing up for herself, so now it's more like she just likes to banter to ryle up Marinette for sarcastic comebacks I would have liked it if we got to see how Marinette's family moved to Paris to open up the bakery and how she got accepted into Francois Dupont. *ADRIEN* - The Movie's portrayal of Adrien made much more sense for someone in his situation. He was going through a depressive phase and probably was in therapy for that if that's what he was listening to through his earphones in the library in this retelling, which I highly commend Gabriel for in that. It's also nice that Adrien isn't wearing this mask of optimism and is just going through the motions like the stages of grief at his own pace. He's very expressive like with his argument with his father and how he interacts with Nino as he learns new social cues while still being a little uncertain of how to handle things but asks instead of assuming. It's also nice how Adrien wasn't isolated in the manor in the movie and got to go out to places and with friends. I'm upset we didn't see Adrien's first interactions with Plagg and Nino but their dynamics still worked well. *GABRIEL* - Now, if there's any version of villain Gabriel that I will ever feel sympathy for and forgive, then it is definitely Movie Gabriel. The Movie perfectly portrayed him as this desperate and broken man blinded by grief to try and bring back his wife. Gabriel and Emilie's love story in the Movie as childhood sweethearts works much better and in the flashbacks and visions of Emilie and their past, it told the story well without telling too much or too little. Although, I'm confused as to exactly when Emilie died/went comatose as with Adrien's vision of her in the theater, it seemed like her passing was recent but with Gabriel, the flashback of Emilie had a 8 to 9 year old Adrien which implies her passing being years ago, which raises the question of how Gabriel kept her body preserved if the whole Sentibeing thing was not in the plot for Gabriel to make a deal with Tomoe. Anyway, Movie Gabriel's time as Hawkmoth was brilliant except for how his villain face looked a little like someone hit him with a frying pan and flattened his nose a bit but it was good for laughs. The Movie really maintained Gabriel's mental state as a desperate and grieving widower who was doing everything with the intent of doing what he felt was best for his son but got a bit extreme. On the other hand, the Show brought that portrayal to question as he seemed like a broken desperate man at first but quickly became a psychotic control freak who I can't feel sympathy for no matter how hard I try. The final confrontation between Gabriel and Adrien was everything it should have been in the show. Even if Movie Ladybug was the one who would fix the damage in the end, the confrontation was meant to be between Gabriel and Adrien for the two to finally face their grief and for Gabriel to see how far he had fallen if it had gotten to the point that he hurt his precious child and him giving up the Miraculous for Adrien because of his love for his son was beautiful and brilliantly executed. Also, with Movie Gabriel, his redemption makes sense as in the end, the build up matched the endgame, but, with Show Gabriel, the supposed redemption, if you can call it that, didn't make sense as the build up didn't align with the endgame at all. Either way, Movie Gabriel was wonderful and I'd actually forgive him for his crimes and call him a decent father who mistakes out of grief. That being said about the characters, let's move to regards about Ladybug and Chat Noir's dynamic. The Movie partnership between Ladybug and Chat Noir was well built up as they didn't just become the dynamic duo from the get go but went step by step in a short time. We saw how different their personalities are and their playful bicker especially with Chat Noir's comment about Ladybug being a watermelon 😂😂😂😂😂. We saw how they grew to be friends while maintaining professionality in their work. They didn't make Chat Noir's crush and love confession sound like a broken record that got in the way of their work and they confronted the tension between the two in regards to Ladybug rejecting Chat Noir and they solved that conflict head on and put it to rest once and for all. Master Fu treated them with equal respect when talking to both of them and not just one of them even when Fu talked to Ladybug at the end on how she could fix the damage. In the Movie Ladybug and Chat Noir's power and ability growth matched the capacity of their experience which grew as they grew, so Ladybug learned the cure without a lucky charm and Chat Noir has his cataclysm. I feel like the sequels will have more abilities hopefully for BOTH of them but we'll wait and see. That being said, yes, the Movie was better than the show as while it told the same story as the show, it did it in a way that had a great flow in plot and character development, had very few plot holes that wouldn't be noticable and gave good screen time to the characters. It also had a good build up for the sequels which I hope will have the same energy or better than the first Movie. The Show still has a lot to work on especially with the new arc coming up, so I hope they'll learn from the previous seasons to not make the same mistake twice.

I wish you do more videos on the development seen of Nathalie, Chloe, Sabrina, Alya and Nino in the movie and show. Like how much ever is ahown as I was expecting that in this video. But I agree with you on almost all topics. I feel like Adrien fell in love with Marinette at the end of the movie after she reveals her identity. On the first watch, and feels like he fell in love because she was Ladybug and not because she was Marinette. And very few scenes of Gabe were there too. But yeah movie was better in some cases while show was in others. And you don't need to enjoy one and hate the other. I enjoy both.
The film isn't perfect ofc not, the powers could use explaining for example whereas I like how they're more clear in the show and explored. But as much as I can appreciate that things will naturally take longer in the show bc it's episodic, character development and plot arcs like the love square do get dragged out vs in the film they're more concise. I also like how the series is more adrienette focused and the film more ladynoir, I think those make sense for the mediums (same point as above with how much time they have for development & plot). But yeah it is a bit of a shock for marinette and adrien to get together at the end they do rely a bit too much on them just getting together bc they find out they're in love with the same person. Do agree though that I love the cheekiness / sass of the ladybug & chat noir partnership in the show, season 1 was so great for that. Overall I think the film does a lot of things better that show tries, but I also enjoy parts of show that aren't in the film like the sentimonster stuff and meeting other characters like Kagami and Felix. I think the two compliment one another well, love square fans will like the film (though will probably also like that there's Marichat and a bit of Ladrien in the show tbf), fans of the lore have more to get from the show 😌.

Marinette dreamed of calling Paris home. It was a place she lived, but she never felt like it was home, now it feels like home to her. I think the best lovesquare moment of the show was Oblivion. We have never gotten something to compare with the two of them together like that since.
I wanna talk about a few things not mentioned in this video (and I'll be using some deleted scenes as basis so take it with a grain of salt) Mari is new to Paris but so is Adrien, as he seems new to Chloe as well in this continuity, likewise her bias against Marinette is a lot more understandable, not only is she an easy target, but she also smudged her expensive clothes, ran away without an apology, and got in the way of her relationship with Adrien the whole way through (funny how that's Gabriel in the show ain't it ?) Speaking of which, it's hard to tell that he recently moved in, but he only bought a compass from the black market which led him to the cript where he found nooroo right under the mansion where he moved into (we didn't get an explanation for his evil lares in the show) Some Gabriel scenes were cut , which is unforgivable as is but one line in them explains everything about him, including his decent into madness: "an agreste never surrenders" this philosophy obviously made him successful and happy, but when his enemies are unstoppable it became self destructive, and it makes him unreasonable (also after seeing what his akuma does to people, and that he can't get a power of his choosing out of it, it makes sense why he doesn't use it on himself until he loses Adrien's and crosses the line) Furthermore I love how different the kwamis are Nooroo knows the negative emotions feedback does bad things to his holder so he guard's his miraculous in a special hidden cript, and always tries to set Gabriel straight whenever he can (which is how we got that scene where Adrien shouts at him btw) As for plagg, I know people hate him, but I like that he furthers the contrast between Adrien and mari, and what it means to have a fortunate/unfortunate circumstances where Adrien basically got the worst deal with an unreliable kwami, and a power that punishes his loose impulse
I love how master Fu doesn’t pick Marinette or Adrien. The kwamiis do. Also personally (as a Chloe fan 😂) I love how they handle things in the movie. I watched the movie in Spanish on Netflix In the Spanish dub it is more I guess you can say heavily implied (more than the English dub) how Chloe isn’t exactly the only bully. Also There’s a small little moment near the end that shows Chloe helping Sabrina up and I love that!
Unpopular opinion : people prefer the movie because of the astounding animation and because the love square is somewhat resolved at the end when in the series we will have soon S6 and we still not have the reveal. But this movie has too many flaws which most of them could have been easily avoided . If really the movie is what fans want , it is not quite true . Adrien who is treated as a vulgar sidekick in the series , is in a way more developed in the movie but they do not show his first interaction with Plagg , his first transformation and Plagg is reduced to fart jokes .Marinette reveals her true identity in the end , but in the movie they do not explain why they have to hide their identity to each other in the firstplace ( I know it is explained in the series ) but a movie should be able to stand by itself , and the kiss is cut (censorship ???) etc...
@@saimasehar5429 I did watch the series before the movie . Maybe I would not have liked the movie otherwise , I do not know .But it is sure I would not have understood how exactly, Ladybug, Cat Noir and Hawk Moth's powers worked exactly and even with the series it is not really clear , do they have a time limit or not after using their attacks (when Cat Noir mention his ring shining ) , why Ladybug is using her power of creation only at the end of the movie etc...
2:56 I actually disagree. In the library, Marinette starts to say something before she notices Adrien is gone. They have a pretty normal conversation at the fair. They're together a whole bunch during the montage. And Marinette actually asks him out to the ball, which is something that her show counterpart actually *never* overcame (because they just had Adrien confess first). Movie!Marinette is a little awkward around Adrien, but I think she's actually quite a bit more comfortable around him than most other people.
THE ANIMATION OF THE MOVIE WAS SOOO GOOD I LOVED IT, but side characters like luka, HAD NO EYEBROWS, and he wasn't really a side character in the movie, more of a backround character, they didn't even draw eyebrows for any of the backround characters but for the supporting characters like chloe, or alya, they looked so good they clearly put work into them, but juleka and luka, etc, were all put as backround characters so they didn't put much work into them. marinette and adrien look good in the movie animation, and the movie animation was better then the show, but s6 adrien is not good, he literally looks 8yrs, which is sad, but js because of this small thing, I AM NOT QUITTING THE SHOW, im to committed to the show to quit over a small thing, so neither should you :D
If it weren’t my love for the show, I wouldn’t have seen the movie. There’s a lot of great stuff to be had there. But the show does suffer from its fair share of problems. At this moment, I’d pick the movie as the better of the two. I cannot stress enough how badly the season 5 finale hurt the characters and the show overall. On the surface of it- the bad guy wins and the world becomes a better place. That’s a bad look. It really makes me wonder what they’re trying to say with the show, when the heroes losing results in a better, more positive future. And I know it’s been said a million times, but sidelining Cat Noir completely & having Ladybug fight the final battle alone- narratively that was such a horrible decision. After so many years of following the show, this finale was completely unsatisfying. The season 5 finale was so bad, that I wasn’t sure I’d even bother continue watching. I’m still catching up on the specials that have come out since then. It took me a good year to even want to see more. The London special is like an addendum to the season 5 finale, trying to add enough context to fix it & make it not as awful. So yeah- the movie is better.
The movie is better, the show writing was such a waste, they put why Marinette acted the way she is at last minute, too many red flags. The movie had an awesome plot, I love the show it just the direction it was going, hey! Season 6 better explain how Alya got her hair like that, Marinette better stop the stalking phase
I belong to the people who prefer the show over the movie. In my opinion the movie was really cringe to watch. Especially the dialogue. Them repeating their stronger together slogan over and over and people expositing their motivations directly out loud without any nuance just ruined the whole tone. And the music was totally out of place a lot of times. And also Hawk Moth having world ending powers makes his actual power seem redundant at best. He could have ended the conflict at the beginning of the movie.
Honestly I know the movie is better but I just personally like the show better. The movie is obviously better animated and the movie is only the ‘basis’ but sets it up amazingly well. I think the movie has a better, more organized storyline. The reason I like the show more is because, first of all theres more of it. Second, there’s like little to no Adrienette in the movie. Adrienette is literally the only reason I’m still watching the show so without that in the movie I just thought it was rather…boring 😬 the songs however. I thought they were amazinggg and after the release, the soundtrack is still living rent free in my head.
I like both if the question is that which movie you can watch anytime then my answer is miraculous awaking movie and if it's that which show is like your comfort show then it is miraculous tales of ladybug and cat noir
Gripes with the show aside, I genuinely still think that it's better overall. Although some things were better in the movie, like how the heroes were chosen. Idk, the movie felt very bland and cookie cutter to me.
Fans are criticizing the new animation without seeing it, this is not right, wake up, I think it is neither childish nor terrible, none of you will say anything and this animation resembles a movie, but it is not very relevant. If you ask why, Unreal Engine 5 is a realistic engine and this has made the animation more mature and they have become older. They are not children. I think this is about animation. We should be thankful, they use the best engine, I think, don't criticize anymore, it's absurd to say it's bad without watching it
While I agree on one level since we haven’t seen a great deal of it, people in general don’t deal well with change so I’m not sure your attitude towards people’s scepticisms is very kind
@hazeclarke I'm sorry, but this is a really annoying and ridiculous issue and I complain about it a lot. You can't criticize something without watching it. You've said it all about something that hasn't been released yet. Wake up, now they continue to criticize the animation before it even comes out. You were fooled by the fake, incomplete trailer. As a fan, I disagree with what you all say. I'm past this. Don't you even trust professional people? You'll regret it when it comes out. These are the facts?
The series is objectively better than the movie. The movie had certain underdeveloped parts and required background knowledge of the lore and storyline.

Some Gabriel scenes were cut , which is unforgivable as is but one line in them explains everything about him, including his decent into madness: "an agreste never surrenders" this philosophy obviously made him successful and happy, but when his enemies are unstoppable it became self destructive, and it makes him unreasonable (also after seeing what his akuma does to people, and that he can't get a power of his choosing out of it, it makes sense why he doesn't use it on himself until he loses Adrien's and crosses the line)
Furthermore I love how different the kwamis are
Nooroo knows the negative emotions feedback does bad things to his holder so he guard's his miraculous in a special hidden cript, and always tries to set Gabriel straight whenever he can (which is how we got that scene where Adrien shouts at him btw)
As for plagg, I know people hate him, but I like that he furthers the contrast between Adrien and mari, and what it means to have a fortunate/unfortunate circumstances where Adrien basically got the worst deal with an unreliable kwami, and a power that punishes his loose impulse
I'm not writing a whole paragraph on why but the movie was much better in so many ways imo!
The movie is in some ways… better
I love how master Fu doesn’t pick Marinette or Adrien. The kwamiis do.
Also personally (as a Chloe fan 😂)
I love how they handle things in the movie.
I watched the movie in Spanish on Netflix
In the Spanish dub it is more I guess you can say heavily implied (more than the English dub) how Chloe isn’t exactly the only bully.
FINALLY!! someone said it! Ugh this has been annoying me for wayy too long
The movie is only enjoyed by so many because they have watched the show beforehand. The movie is terrible as a standalone on its own
the kiss was cut for the story, this isnt the first movie to do that
@@saimasehar5429 I did watch the series before the movie .
When was the secret identity rule properly explained? Oh right, episode 100. It can be assumed that it's just a layer of caution.
Oh-
It’s okay if you prefer the show! 🥰
Oop ngl never noticed the lack of brows 😅😅
Agree!
Yes.
I hate to break it you but people also say their motivations out loud in the show 🙃
@ Yes. But it's way less cringe. And it's also wasted opportunity to write better dialogue than the show.
Why are you not making a video Abt the Christmas special
… Santa claws?
The TV show
Honestly I know the movie is better but I just personally like the show better.
The movie definitely needed more adrienette!
I like both if the question is that which movie you can watch anytime then my answer is miraculous awaking movie and if it's that which show is like your comfort show then it is miraculous tales of ladybug and cat noir
the movie was so boring for me when it came out, havent watched it since... maybe ill rewatch it
Heck yh it is. I feel like the movie saved the franchise.
Jeremy did everything in an 1 hr 40 minutes that Thomas couldn't in 5 seasons
Agree!
Gripes with the show aside, I genuinely still think that it's better overall. Although some things were better in the movie, like how the heroes were chosen. Idk, the movie felt very bland and cookie cutter to me.
I’d rather something be bland but good rather than unique and full of plot holes. Something doesn’t need to be complex tk be good
Fans are criticizing the new animation without seeing it, this is not right, wake up, I think it is neither childish nor terrible, none of you will say anything and this animation resembles a movie, but it is not very relevant.
Don't say objectively when you mean subjectively. It makes your argument sound dumb.
