Update: There will be some additional trim work added to the interior to conceal the coffee station switch panels and main control panel. Also, Coachmen opted for the Mach3 AC units because they are much quieter than Dometics but also less restrictive than the Whisper Quiet AC Systems. So efficiency over sound. And yes, $6k for MCD Day/night shades was a bit high.... Ok, very high. It's more like $2k-$2.5k for 12 windows installed. Remember, this is also the ONLY fifth wheel that offers OEM Disc Brakes anywhere near this price range.
Nice floor plan. I purchased a new Grand Design 5er 3 weeks ago with the new Coleman Mach ACs. I was amazed how much quieter they were than my previous 5th wheel.
Agree completely. Definitely do not need such a huge TV. A hidden (pop up) tv would be great. This would free up more cabinet and counter space and a allow for a window to open up the living room further and allow for better cross-ventilation.
I like it a lot. More people are working remotely and living the RV lifestyle, the mid-bunk is ideal for this. My late husband and I Rv'd full-time for 5 1/2 years. After he passed away I continued for another year and a half staying at the same resort we had wintered at for so many years. I miss the lifestyle and love looking at the new RV's,' they have changed a lot. You do a great job describing the units and the good points and not-so-good points.
The problem with an offset sink is that it disrupts the dishwashing flow of dirty, wash, drain/dry. You either don't have a place for dirty dishes or you don't have a place for draining dishes. At the very least, a fold up counter top, to the left of the sink, would be a welcome addition.
One thing that always kind of bugged us is the windows behind the dinette chairs often come down low enough that the bottom of the window treatments are below the tops of the chair backs. The space between the chairs and the table could be 3"-4" wider if those windows and the treatments were just a few inches shorter.
Awesome walk through of a very impressive RV! I believe thismcollaberation is going to pay off big time. Great to know there are manufacturers that genuinely care about customer feedback when designing their new models
I just have two things one is the floor heater vent in front of the pullout couch when the couch is pulled out the heater vent is blocked maybe could be a safety hazard and the second is having a sliding gate on the loft would a very safe place for children to sleep if there big time movers at night
Great video. That mid bunk is a winner. I have enjoyed the three part mini-series. What I like is as follows: The storage on this unit with the diamond plate rubber mat is perfect. With the thicker walls it should be easier to keep warm and cool. The coat closet as you walk in is good idea. Liked all of the space in the living room. The refrigerator was a good size and so were the pantries. The bunk was excellent size for the grandkids and grand nieces and nephews. The improved suspension, disc brakes and “G” rated tires were great safety features. The only improvements I would make would be is a one piece shower ... just for the piece of mind. I would like to see an outdoor grill slide out. I don’t mind washing off the side if grease splatters on to it. Thanks again for the detailed video series! Keep ‘em coming.
I like the extra room/office space without the bunk as is. I’d probably end up taking out that extra bunk and keep the fold out sofa. Still enough sleeping space for everyone. I love these types of mid bunks
I'm in the search for a new home and was about to head out to buy the Montana high country 384br you also happened to review recently, but this is really nice and I may need to rethink. I cant wait for it to hit dealers so I can make my decision.
this rv is very nice. Hubby would love the bigger tv. Most mid bunk models do lose a lot of storage in the kitchen area by having the door to the bunkroom in the kitchen instead of the hallway but this one maximizes that space. We also have the 360 IBL and really do like all the storage in its kitchen. In this model I would miss all the shelf space for dishes, glassware, etc that is on the wall where this one has the bunkroom door. Think moving the sink to one side of the island is genius as is the longer desk area in the bunkroom. Since it's just the two of us, we would never use a loft area even for storage as we are just too old to go scooting around in that area to put or retrieve stuff, even if they are in totes. But it would be amazing for someone with kids. We removed the bunks in the 360IBL and made it my craft room. In this model I would do the same... remove the couch and put in a desk or craft supply storage. The hallway coat closet is very nice and would love one in our IBL. We put a rack in the hallway for our coats but it minimizes the pass-through space in the hallway and I once tripped (upstairs thank goodness) when stepping on the sleeve of a coat that hung down a little low. The upgraded look and large fridge in this one grabbed my heart. Thanks for sharing
The closet is a really nice touch. I like they're adding the flip up bunk, for me that's a must. Tho, for the size of that unit, I thought the bathroom was mediocre. But that's just me. Very nice unit overall. Good show!
Love the mid bunk and the loft. My 36' Montana 5th wheel is 3 slides, seperate rear living room, mid kitchen/dining room, and front bedroom. But it's just me, so it's ideal for my needs.
The only change I would like is the washer dryer hookup relocated into the mid bunk. Going full time soon, and I’m sold on the mid bunk design. This is one of the nicest layouts I’ve seen so far.
Great floor plan. This is one of the best mid-bunk designs out there. Only downside is the floor ducting. It’s never fun to chase out kid toys from them.
I think they have nailed this one with strength and features for the dollars.. especial with Azdel, Love the little upgrades especially like disc breaks and LED's, also love the amount of storage in the kitchen also.. this is basically everything I'm looking for, I would make a few changes , like as you stated the pinbox of my choice and I'd take out the toilet and do a air head composting toilet, and then convert the black tank to extended grey tank for longer boon-docking ability.. But I wouldn't expect the factory to do that.. kind of "fringe" requests. I'd also opt for the gas fridge for boon-docking and obviously I'd cover the as much of the roof as possible with solar panels etc.
We love this type of floor plan but I wish the loft was taller like a toy hauler loft bed. We have 4 kids and that would be great for us, Including the bunk in the mid room. That’s a really nice RV tho. Great features. Lots of room to kick back and watch tv with the family. A huge upgrade from our TT, for sure! Great video!
Looks like a beautiful RV. I was hoping it came with shocks standard. Or at least as an option. The disc brakes and upgraded tires are very nice. And while I like the coat closet, the one area most RV’s seem to overlook is shoe storage space. I hate having shoes stacked up next to the door. I think they could provide storage under the steps that would be out of the way but easily accessible. I’d also like to see a one piece shower and some storage built into the loft bunk area.
First of all very nice job. I generally don’t like 5th wheels because I don’t think they offer enough to extra to be worth the additional weight and size. But this floorplan really does offer a compelling reason to buy one. I especially love all the upgraded parts that they included. My one thought in terms of better. I would have replaced the rear sofa with a rear U shaped dinette. You may need a foot or two of extra length to make this work. Replace the table and chairs with another sofa. The dinette allows more seating especially if your family is larger than 4.
This Brookstone is really nice. We are looking at getting a midbunk and my wife will use it for office space. Would be nice if the desk was a little wider so have more room to work with. I have saw some where the desk rounds out some where you are sitting that gives you more room. Be nice if shower was a 1 piece. But in all it was a nice set up. Thanks for the video.
My god... . *Living space* - space for coats, couch/king-sized bed, consistent chairs for dinette, storage within dinette, good general storage, ceiling fan for when you don't quite need AC, a heater, TV, theater seating, dedicated AC unit *Kitchen space* - good fridge options, great use of an island, space for a trash can, good space to work, coffee station *Bunk room* - good space, good storage, couch/full-sized bed, a good desk; later versions will actually have a bunk option *Loft* - ladder isn't intrusive, TV mount installed, AC vents, skylight *Bathroom* - good size, decent storage, towel holders, medicine cabinet, shower with small built-in seat *Master Bedroom* - okay room to move, place for washer/dryer, roomy closet, night stands with drink holders, dresser, dedicated AC unit, and I'm assuming a king bed, given the living room couch. This floor plan is magnificent. I can't really find anything I hate with it. Sure, I'd like the washer/dryer to not be in the master bedroom, but with all you get in this thing, I can let that slide.
I have the Coachmen Chaparral 392mbl ... not really a whole lot of difference except for very minor tweaks and also the entrance to the mid bunk being in the hall instead of the kitchen. I do love my rig and this layout. Safe travels. bg
I would like to see them release this model as is with regard to the mid bunk. I need the second bedroom but prefer it without the second overhead bunk. There is plenty of space in the large bunk loft. Perhaps they could make it an option. The one thing I would change is the 2 piece shower. I definitely prefer one piece to decrease the chance of leakage. Thanks for the walk thru. I love this floor plan!
Wow you helped design the interior? Very cool. I really like the layout of this unit, and the overall design. This is the sort of coach I would get. If I had a truck. Or money. Or time to actually go RV’ing.
I have the same shower in my 2019 coachman chaparral 370 FL about eight months old, it’s been repaired 3 times and is leaking again, I hope they figured out how to build them without leaking!
I would love to see dual bunks available as an option instead of the love seat to actually use the room as a bunk house. An inexpensive upgrade would be to add galvanized steel wheel well liners like Highland Ridge does to mitigate damage during a blowout. Highland Ridge also uses a PVC roof material that has a lot of advantages over traditional rubber options - not sure what kind of cost difference is involved though. I understand the logic with the AC choice, but would still prefer Whisper Quiet for the main unit. I would pay a little more for a 1 piece shower surround as well. I am stoked about disc brakes in an accessible RV brand!
I’ve been watching your videos for forever now and I just realized that I never subscribed lol 😂 All fixed! I really enjoy your vids and feel like I am way more educated about RVs so I don’t have a proverbial “sucker” sign attached to my forehead 😆 when I finally decide to go shopping. One of my kids doesn’t do particularly well with change so I think getting an RV/Camper etc will help him adjust to traveling better. No matter where we go or what we do, he will always have the same place to come home to wherever we visit. Hmm maybe I should just go see you when the time is right!
It is nice to see that they started using pocket doors for the mid bunk, it would have been better used on the other wall by the entrance to the RV. You lose a lot of counterspace when you put the doorway for the bed bunk in the kitchen.
Love this unit. Will have to put this on my short list. In my view I would have a queen bed, and leave the mid room without the additional bunk. No real need for it. Since we would have to remove it anyway.
The only thing I didn’t like was how small the desk area was in the mid bunk. Didn’t look like a lot of room for legs under it or for a laptop to sit on there. But other wise looks amazing with a lot of good input!
Almost perfect. 1) Move floor vents to under cabinet. 2) Smaller TV and extend countertop. 3) Move the control panel next to closet, so you dont have to climb the stairs. 4) Shoe garage under coat closet 5) Larger outdoor kitchen.
I absolutely love this, and mid bunks in general. Super nice for families or just for the extra space. I want it, need a bigger truck tho. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the ladder to the loft area. We have a similar ladder in our Salem, and it’s completely useless for my kids. They have too hard of a time getting up and down it, and frankly so do I. I’d rather have a regular ladder with more steps that aren’t rounded. That’s the only downside I saw.
Absolutely beautiful 5th wheel. Accessibility during travel is important to folks who full time. Access to the bathroom and bedroom is great. I'm curious how accessible is the refrigerator with the slides closed?
Not a fan of the carpet bits here and there throughout the coach, but everything else is nearly flawless! We've been looking at the Montana and Grand Design mid-bunks. Coachmen have put themselves into the hunt with this one.
Great improvements over all the other "mid-price" Fifth wheels (40-80k non luxury). The only 2 issues i could see here were the buried sink inside the outside compartment which is a design flaw completely, and the 2 piece shower instead of a 1 piece fiberglass shower. If it only had those fixed this would have been the class leading RV above all of them combined. Also you might want to suggest that coachman will create a higher trim brand (maybe "Brookstone Premium") that will incorporate the same floor design but with upgraded wood trims, shower, insulation and hell... maybe even a decent solar panels (yes manufacturers, solar means more than 1 panel on the roof). Overall great job, and i hope more RV firms will take this as an example of how to build the (near) perfect RV, just listen to your clients. (who would have thought?!)
Really like the mid bunk room with the window. Assuming putting in the upper bunk is going to remove the window?. I hope the window stays and the is removable as it is perfect as is.
Nice floor plan. Great cargo capacity; that is lacking in so many 5ers today. I'd swap the free standing table to a booth. But in either config, it looks like you can actually see the TV from the eating area! JD: From the looks, it appears that this unit is 'fully functional' all buttoned up? Quick lunch on the road at rest stop? Even sleep friendly all buttoned up? Thanks!
It would have been nice if the put the heating vents in the kick panels instead of on the floor. More efficient and not as much trouble with things falling in them.
I really like the Mod Bunks. I often wish they would put some drawers in the bunk room under the bathroom. (If that makes sense, on the north wall. Also, I would really Appreciate your feed back on this question. When do you think we will begin seeing dedicated Medium Duty Truck fifth wheels? Talking about your Internationals, and Freightliner Sport chassis. More and more people are towing with these, perhaps we could see a trailer made for big trucks. IE with an added 2.5-3 feet you could put a second bathroom in the midbunk and truly outshine the co petition with so Ergo God I think the market desperately needs. If they build the trailers people will buy the right truck to tow it with. So will they build them? And when? Thank you!
We r just getting back into RV's so really liked the style of your video's so keep it up. Your video's on how they build the Coachman products caught us before we were going to place an order on another mid bunk unit so watched the series with great interest. You showed on them what was a really big the under storage in the new Chaparral has. How do we get that sized storage in the 395? Is there anymore behind the Frig/sink cabinet to be had ? Are they going to place the water station in a new driver side rear cab? Can you get power cord winder at rear also?
that coffee station s ice but all those flip switches should be up above so that when the coffee machine is there they aren't hidden behind it . it would be hard to reach those and make a possible hazard
So J.D. why are you not hooking this one up and pulling it home. I can so see the midbunk area being your new TH-cam studio. Pulled behind your truck not sure the f450 would know it's back there. lol. Honestly everything on this model I love wish it was mine now.
I was set on the Montana 3855, since this video I have completely changed my mind! When will this model be in lots for sale, and do you happen too know a ball park range of pricing
It is 4 seasons rated. Honestly, if you're RVing in the extreme hot summer (98°+) then any RV with 2 AC units may not help much. I've been in a new DRV that couldn't get lower than 78 degrees with all 3 ACs running.
I really like the mid bunk to use as my office. I do understand the limitations in hot weather, unfortunately we don’t have a choice where we go. We have to go where the work is. Really like the options Coachman offers standard! Have you looked at the vilano’s? We really like the quality of the unit, every Vilano owner we talked with have no issues with them. They look like a good value for the money, but no mid bunks!
On that kitchen slide, it looks like a 2" lip on the slide. I feel I'd be tripping over that when standing at the stove or counter. Do you feel that will be an issue?
Very nicely done JD. I’d love to see the travel trailer equivalent to this one. Any recommendations? The closest I’ve seen is the Grand Design Imagine series. Thank you!
This one seems perfect for us with 3 kids. We’re looking to upgrade from our current travel trailer that stays at a campground year round. What would you recommend would be best for what we need, 5th wheel, destination, or park model
Nice coach. Personally I feel the Brown on Brown color pallets are over used and outdated (Hey the '70,s called, they want they're Earth Tones back) but that just might be me. Also have you ever thought about showing us what the RVs look in travel mode and how practical or impractical they are for short overnighting stays were it's not allowed to deploy slides or "setup" our rigs?
Since you have a lot of experience with this, as a young guy looking to live in one. What kind of credit would be needed to lease one of these? What scores and history do I need?
I love it, but not a fan of the heater ducts in the floor. I have really narrowed my search to 5th wheels that don’t have heaters in the floor since we have had respiratory issues recently. It would just add to the issue with stuff falling in and rebreathing it. I love all your videos.
What's with the tacky ruffle curtains in the master? They don't match the nicer box valances in the rest of the unit, even in the bunk room. Any thoughts on how tall the loft area is? I'm sure younger kids could crawl around up there, but could taller teenagers or parents crawl around up there too? Some loft spaces are so shallow you can't even fit on hands and knees.
I wish it was an option to add the bunk in the mid room. If I were to trade in my current 5th wheel for this unit the mid room would be my office on the road. That fold up bunk would just be annoying with headroom and I would much rather have the natural light during the day. Personally don’t need a bunk, a full size bed, plus the loft bunk.
There could be a drawer above the trash can, seems like wasted space above the trash can. Over all I really like the features on this one. The coat closet as you enter should be in all RVs. Not a fan of the glass on all the cabinets. The mid-bunk area is nice. The loft areas are to hard to get in and out of for my preferences. I’d rather that be part of the mid-bunk. Love that it’s linoleum and not carpet.
I was leaving a comment part #2 when this one popped up. Do you have an opinion on Thor, and Forest River they just about own everything out there. I just learn thar Thor bought Keystone, Jayco, and Airstream. Just wondering. I do like you design trailer looks great.
Update: There will be some additional trim work added to the interior to conceal the coffee station switch panels and main control panel. Big Truck Big RV what is the price range?
I love the idea of OEM Disk Brakes. All in all a really nice rig.
Nice floor plan. I purchased a new Grand Design 5er 3 weeks ago with the new Coleman Mach ACs. I was amazed how much quieter they were than my previous 5th wheel.
@@ronniesolomon5235 i want to say he mentioned in another video 53 to 65k...i could be wrong
Since it is your idea , they should give you one .
Yeah... That would be nice. Not expecting that to happen though.
Was just about to say that. Or maybe you can get a discount on it. Hopefully it sells well.
I love everything about our Brookstone. Spacious, practical, beautiful. Getting ready to head out on our first trip! Can't wait!
Love this mid bunk ... downsize that TV to 32 inches and make the counter longer .fold down extension at right side of counter and bang ! 😆🤛
I agree. Am working on a new more upgrades.
Agree completely.
Definitely do not need such a huge TV.

Really nice unit! This is 1 i would buy...that the bunkhouse does NOT have the extra bunk is a major selling point for me 😃
Nice thing is that it's easily removable. So you have the option
Can't believe I'm just seeing this. Great job ! ! 👏👏👏 I like it all. Enough room for all the kids and even a private room for my father inlaw
I like it. That extra space is perfect for doing art on the road.

Very nice. I like your inputs. Whisper quiet ac should be expected on this level of 5th wheel in my opinion.

Montana units are awesome. As a fulltimer, you really want 3 inch walls if at all possible. Winter utility savings will make it worth it.

Love the office area, I plan to take a look at one of these, great job.
Nice fifth wheel
I’ve been watching your videos for forever now and I just realized that I never subscribed lol 😂 All fixed! I really enjoy your vids and feel like I am way more educated about RVs so I don’t have a proverbial “sucker” sign attached to my forehead 😆 when I finally decide to go shopping. One of my kids doesn’t do particularly well with change so I think getting an RV/Camper etc will help him adjust to traveling better. No matter where we go or what we do, he will always have the same place to come home to wherever we visit. Hmm maybe I should just go see you when the time is right!
As long as they add the bunk in the additional room it’s is a perfect set up. As long as it isn’t priced to high
It is nice to see that they started using pocket doors for the mid bunk, it would have been better used on the other wall by the entrance to the RV. You lose a lot of counterspace when you put the doorway for the bed bunk in the kitchen.
Finally! You big tease😂
This is very nice. We're headed to the California RV show on the 4th looking for a mid bunk unit.
Love this unit. Will have to put this on my short list. In my view I would have a queen bed, and leave the mid room without the additional bunk. No real need for it. Since we would have to remove it anyway.
That's pretty sweet..
Single or double sink? Oven size? I do like electric landing gear, I don't want to mess with hydraulic lines and pumps.
The only thing I didn’t like was how small the desk area was in the mid bunk. Didn’t look like a lot of room for legs under it or for a laptop to sit on there. But other wise looks amazing with a lot of good input!
I was thinking the same. You would need to get one of those backless chairs where you are supported on your knees. I haven't seen one in years though.
The fridge wouldn't be, but the micro fridge would be
Love this !!!! Definitely top of my list.
Could you please show more nose living room floor plans with rear bedrooms? Thank you.
Very nice love the mid bunk and office area
Really like the mid bunk room with the window. Assuming putting in the upper bunk is going to remove the window?. I hope the window stays and the is removable as it is perfect as is.
Love the coat closet
love the table great spot for the family shotgun
Nice floor plan.
Great cargo capacity; that is lacking in so many 5ers today.
I'd swap the free standing table to a booth.
But in either config, it looks like you can actually see the TV from the eating area!
JD:
From the looks, it appears that this unit is 'fully functional' all buttoned up?
Quick lunch on the road at rest stop?
Even sleep friendly all buttoned up?
Thanks!
It would have been nice if the put the heating vents in the kick panels instead of on the floor. More efficient and not as much trouble with things falling in them.
Have you/would you ever design a travel trailer? (Especially a bunk house or 2 bedroom!)😊
Hmmm good idea!
IE with an added 2.5-3 feet you could put a second bathroom in the midbunk and truly outshine the co petition with so
Ergo God I think the market desperately needs.
This would be perfect with an additional bunk room in the back for full time large families.
that coffee station s ice but all those flip switches should be up above so that when the coffee machine is there they aren't hidden behind it . it would be hard to reach those and make a possible hazard
Very nice design
So J.D. why are you not hooking this one up and pulling it home. I can so see the midbunk area being your new TH-cam studio. Pulled behind your truck not sure the f450 would know it's back there. lol. Honestly everything on this model I love wish it was mine now.
I wish they would swap the location of the sink and toilet and put in a slide door to access the bathroom from the bedroom. Other than that I love it.
I wonder why coachman doesn’t use a one piece shower. Just wondering if you know. Such a beautiful unit!
I was set on the Montana 3855, since this video I have completely changed my mind! When will this model be in lots for sale, and do you happen too know a ball park range of pricing
Love this one. Thanks for sharing!!
I would be concerned about the tv so close to the stove
My thought was, that TV will stay filthy if you cook. I cook 3 meals a day. It's a nice design. If downsize that TV and even the counter.
Very cool!
Beautiful.
Overall, that is a very nice rig, love the floor plan. Great work. Now all they need to do is front you one for a year or ten for a real life review.
Great job 👍
Great floor plan. Is this unit a full time 4 season? We live full time in a Chaparral and had some issues with keeping cool this summer.
Thanks JD!
This would be a great option if it has the room and floorplan you like. Plus the tow ability if you move around.
When will these be available? Comparing RVs recently. Dry weight?
I would go with that plan
I love this!!!!!!!!!
Very nice.
Hey, maybe I missed it... but I didn’t hear what the MSRP is on this as seen model. PS... fantastic work here.
JD said in the comments on the Pt 2 video that MSRP would be around $75-80K.
Would I notice a big difference in stopping distance with disc brakes vs. drum brakes?
Yes and stopping smoother
What is the suggested retail on this. I really like the looks of this unit. Nice work!
I was leaving a comment part #2 when this one popped up. Do you have an opinion on Thor, and Forest River they just about own everything out there. I just learn thar Thor bought Keystone, Jayco, and Airstream. Just wondering. I do like you design trailer looks great.
Thor's owned them for quite some time. I have several videos on this topic.
@@BTBRVReviews wow I thought I watched almost everyone of your videos. I need to pay better attention.
Yes yes yes
