1982 KZ305 was my first bike I owned and learned to ride back in the nineties. Very easy to work on. Sold it and bought my current ride, 2002 750 Honda Magna. That KZ was a nice bike overall!!.
I purchased a new 1982 model in 1984 for $900 cash. The dealer still gas a dozen of them left on the showroom floor. Wonder if one can still get a replacement belt for the belt drive. I believe the 1981 models were standard chain drive.
I see it has the all too common head gasket oil leak. It will run like that, but it gets messy. PIA to fix. Make sure you find original Kawasaki gaskets if you change it. The aftermarket gaskets like Vesrah or Athena will leak again promptly - i promise you. I had to do it three times! Also with these bikes its critical to have clean, properly adjusted carbs. I cant say that enough! Stick with the factory air box and jet sizes. No pods filters! I can't say that enough either. Fun little ride when they're running right. Mine was free, but I've spent over $1500 on parts to do complete teardown and rebuild.
