I was the Mic cosplayer sitting in front of the kid who asked the Paintbrush question, and I can confidently say he meant absolutely no offense by his question and was simply very young and didn’t know any better. I assume he keeps up with the online fandom too, because he was quoting some fandom in-jokes at various points of the movie. I’ve seen some people discuss his question very respectfully but some not so much and I really hope he doesn’t come across any videos or comments berating or attacking him for the question that he obviously saw nothing wrong with, and he definitely learned his lesson from the audience’s reaction. From what I saw he was simply enthusiastic and naive but overall innocent kid.

We cant get upset at people for something they honestly didnt know. I kinda wish the crew had used the opportunity to make this an educational moment, like; “Yeah thats not really a question you want to ask nonbinary people, fictional or otherwise, because it’s extremely disrespectful to their identity” instead of just “they’re nonbinary” because that..doesn’t answer anything and also probably made the kid more confused. They could’ve even gone with a lore-accurate response and say “Paintbrush was created to have no biological gender, end of story. And also theyre fictional objects who dont work the way people do.” But hey, Id probably freeze in awkwardness and give a similar answer, especially in front of such a large audience, so I cant blame em too much for that lol.

Before the finale came out, my theory was that MePhone added Box to the show as a joke in itself and that it was not connected to MeLife, but I thought that the baby shimmer would bring Box to life to display his powers in hopes it would bring back everyone else, I LOVED what we ended up getting, Box is an amazing character.
i was definitely a box hater before the finale, but now she's one of my favorites 😅 i love what they did with her character, after act 1 came out i had seen a lot of theories about her getting X'd or something
