the CT crew needs to take a lesson from these guys (in flow). Nice long drawn out turns. Not trying to turn on every nook and cranny - just flowing with it until the turn presents itself. Curren might need to take a lesson from these flowmasters. These guys got what I call as: Surfease - they let the wave do the work for them. It's all in your wave read, the line you draw, and the ease - it's more like flying, and less like boxing. The guy @6:34 (don't know who is which) definitely has some Tudor in there. One of his idols for sure.
Totally agree, I get so bored of the CT cookie-cutter shortboarding. Guys like Trevor Gordon, Ryan Burch, Derrick Disney, Tosh Tudor etc are really paving the way for a new, more wave-conscious generation.
I had to watch this one again. Thank god some are still carrying forth surfing - wave riding. Instead of it just being a "hop to the ramp" fest. one thing missing here is full roundhouses. Rebounding off the whitewater. Plenty of opportunity on those waves. Roundhouse is so much better than a layback cutty. Layback cutty kinda stupid actually - because it stops the flow. That's what curren knew about the roundhouse. You pull back into the energy (steep part) then use it to continue the speed. Stopping is the enemy.
awesome vid, I'm a surfer and a cellist and I performed the opening music live many times with my old cello band BOR cellosurfing waves all day
