Boy does this video bring back fond memories. In 1965 for Spring Break my two buddies and I headed for Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We were traveling from Arlington, Virginia just across the Potomac River from DC. There was a lot of Civil Rights activity at that time so we had to be Super careful. We put on Confederate license plate holders and a flag on our antenna and off we went driving 5-10 MPH under the speed limit especially through the many small times. Our ‘62 Beetle never wavered as we drove non-stop to Florida. After a week celebration we headed home only this time I was the only one is shape to drive. So I had the honor of driving non-stop back home. And once again our ‘62 Beetle never wavered. Later I bought a ‘72 Super Beetle and made two round trips across the country, and eventually put 100,000 miles on it before selling it. These cars would run for ever if you take good care of it. Great memories…..Thanks for the clip.
My first car in high school was a 1969 VW Beetle. Black with red seats, rotted out heater channels, GM wheel adapters and E78-14 tires to give me the wide track look, which also helped driving in the deep Buffalo NY snow! I have always owned a Beetle ever since!
@@JRBRestorations They were great cars for that era. My adult daughter who lives in Laguna Beach is looking for a vintage Cabriolet. Good luck on that one I said😄.
Love the '67 and glad you're enjoying. But right off the bat in the start of the video it shows whomever painted the car painted right over the fender seams. A proper paint job would remove the fenders and preserve the black fender seams. Being a VW purist, this is always a pet peeve of mine any many in the VW hobby. You can always install new fender deams, but most of all just enjoy the Bug and take good care of it. '67 is special.
Thanks! The original owner painted it in 1980 in his garage!! I am the second owner and I have owned it for 27 years. It has nicks, scratches, a little rust, but I have left it like this because I like to drive it and not worry about the paint being perfect! It is a very special 67!
Also notice the hacked dash where he had an 8 track stereo in it. I have a black plastic surround to hide the hack job he did, and then installed a Becker stereo from a 1970’s Mercedes. Kick panel front speakers and a Range Rover powered subwoofer hidden in the storage area behind the back seat.
