Olimar main since Brawl here.. A great match, though I feel Ally had a bit of the nerves in this one. I believe the matchup inexperience, as well as Shuton's great mindgames, led to the nervousness. Despite that, it was Shuton's skill that saw him take the set, and it was a good one for both of them. I'm sure both learned a lot. Great to see Shuton in the States, too!
Kingdomhearts971 from a semi Olimar main, Olimar is very underrated. He just chucks Pikmin and runs away forcing opponents to shake it off which leaves them open. If they use a smash to clear it to shake it off, they're getting grabbed but if they use a tilt, the Pikmin lives. It's a lose lose lol
9:21 It's really dumb that Olimar cant trade with aerials. That will happen with even sourspot sex kicks. Mario throwing out nair in the air pretty much makes him invulnerable against Olimar aerials for the entire duration.
Kinda late, but its for him to have a weakness wile airborne. Since his pikmins already covers a lot of options in neutral, if he had good priority with them it would be unfair
Miguel Zzeen No, it hurts him alot! His offence and defence is so much weaker, he can't gimp recoveries that has hitboxes, spacing is useless, gets pressured more etc.
Ally you are weak to early50/50 kill finishers at these specific moments You can acknowledge that you wont look good regardless if you die to a grounded aerial punish.
Ally was overcomplicating the match. Going for weird options, hesitant to punish easy punishes, not killing or reflecting Pikmin, rolling into Shuton and working his own nerves. He definitely needs to work on his neutral because he definitely should've won this easily
+ -The Gucci Fairy- I shouldn't have to be popular, be a "top player" or get far as Ally to state facts or say an opinion. Generally, when you lose against Olimar, it means your neutral is flawed and you're possibly doing dumb things. Mario definitely destroys Olimar. I'm pretty sure there are only very few characters that don't destroy Olimar. People in Smash 4 generally play too defensive, which is that reason Olimar is praised so much. I'm not saying totally disregard all of your opponents tools but Olimar has many extremely apparent weaknesses. From what I know, It's way too easy to get through his Pikmin, he can't maintain stage control, has almost no stage presence, his Smash Attacks can be reflected, you can outrange him, out space/counter zone him, he can't zone safely 90% of the time cause he has no wall to put up, he can severely struggle to get a kill, can get combo' d, light weight and can die early. The most important thing in this match up is that you can destroy all his Pikmin pretty much at any time. He is only giving you rage and putting himself at more of a disadvantage so stop shielding as much and just go all out. You can pretty much get away with being aggressive and he can't handle pressure. The only Pikmin you need to worry about being thrown at you is the Purple One cause it does Knockback and Breaks Shields and the Blue is a kill throw. You can avoid and kill both of them. His F Smash is obvious and you can easily power shield it. His Fair and Bair are low priority and have some lag so he can't throw those out too much. His grab is frame 10 and laggy so if he doesn't pivot grab to reduce lag I can dash attack to kill the Pikmin or Spotdodge it and still wind up punishing him if he isn't hit by the Dash Attack. His F-Tilt is slow so it will be thrown out early most times. Onstage, it isn't hard at all to catch him either. His recovery is cool but you can still gimp him.
+ The Gucci Fairy Ally, in the first match was drifting into Olimar and air dodging near the ground. Then jumping around too much allowing Olimar to get ground control and reads. He gets killed by trying to Air Dodge an Up Smash he could easily have avoided. Second Match at 9:30, he could have just gotten a back throw to kill imo. Third match, on a stage like Duck Hunt, he should have been on him more in the beginning being that Shu was throwing out so many Pikmin. He started to be too jumpy again and was getting hit by aerials. Then he started getting reckless and not paying attention to how he is moving and landing. 13:10 instead of grab, he should have possibly got the reverse Up Smash or more likely, a Bair. Instead, goes for a D-Throw, which was okay at first. But like I said recklessness. He immediately goes for Fair when he could have just stayed on stage for a read. He short hopped into shield and got killed by D-Throw. Fourth match 14:35 He definitely should have should waited on ledge for Shuton to make a move. Then he started shielding instead of reflecting or moving out the way immediately. He full hopped and air dodged nervously, Idk why. He lost his first stock by not running and power shielding. He gets Shu off stage and when Shu is returning, instead of going for Up B, he Nairs. He gets back onstage and Ally desperate to chase him aerially and Up B's. He get Shu off stage and doesn't read Shu at all. He gets him off again and Up B's the Pikmin and gets punished, lol. A few moments later, Shu is offstage again and Ally hits him with Side B. Like, why not Up B? Ally was working his own nerves in later sets when all he had to was read and be cautiously aggressive, which really isn't hard against Olimar. I can't revoke Shu's win but people are falling off hard.
+The Gucci Fairy Ally scared himself for some weird reason we don't know. Nairo made very obvious mistakes and even he knew it. You could see it in his facial expression.
While I can see your Oli knowledge is lacking a lot.. you're somewhat right about how Ally played. He missed easy punishes and rolled into Shuton. However, your second post is quite flawed.. and I encourage you to build up experience with good Olimar mains.
AMAZING set. That's the best Olimar play we've all seen for sure.
NoFall I had seen Shuton before.
Good for you
yuzmanito lol. right ^^
"He'll do 4 up smashes in a row and hit you with the 5th one, and he didn't even do a 5th one"
"Shuton's like, chiya! ooh ah!" 10/10 commentary
As an Olimar main
I totally approve.
RainEStar me too glad he got C rank in the latest tier list

Good lord that was a massacre game 4. This guy is so good.

Agree
It's nice to see good Olimar players, just like with Wario...
5:55 Shout outs to the two on the right doing their Ally impression
This Olimar is top tier,
Let's See Ranai Vs Shuton!!
Hero_Jake they already played last year. Ranai won 2-0
yeah I notice the video, and shuton won it back from ranai recently
10:06 the last match on duck hunt in compedetive play
Gg to Shuton but damn Ally was so good at this tournament ! except for komota lol
I love how the video immediately begins with Ally visibly tilted from the set he's about to play.
9:21 It's really dumb that Olimar cant trade with aerials. That will happen with even sourspot sex kicks. Mario throwing out nair in the air pretty much makes him invulnerable against Olimar aerials for the entire duration.
Pikmin have the same properties as Luma and items but for some reason people don't exploit that when they fight rosa
Dato Pulseboy I hate that so much! Like why does he have that!?
zCBSajsBXN sdjzcnaskxn Because Luma is the polar opposide of olimar's aerials.

17:42 The peace sign in Japan means V for victory.
8:03 Ally mained Snake in Brawl, where one mistake meant taking 100%. Smash 4 Mario, not a single consequence. lmao
Mario gets outranged and can't land
EJJTheMiner A character having some flaws = being honest.
Shuton is godlike Kreygasm
Ally is so thirsty. No patience.
I agree.
0:10 after ultimate that up smash comment didn't age well
excellent commentary
# best Olimar gg Shuton, Ally is 1 of the Top players
Let's go shuton!!!!
Gotta get those b reverse pikmin orders in.
Ally was Godzilla at this tourney
"Olimar's recovery is bad"
Fucking what? This is Sm4sh, not Brawl. Good-ass set though.
Wötzit Tuyah It's not a bad recovery, but it is really exploitable. Seening as it has no hitbox.
Ally you are weak to early50/50 kill finishers at these specific moments You can acknowledge that you wont look good regardless if you die to a grounded aerial punish.
Im a mario main as well I have less experiance by far but my observatuons arent a joke
