Along with NIL, BYU has a NBA coach and NBA support staff. Any kid who wants to go to the NBA would make a good decision to look at BYU and get introduced to the NBA court life. There is real value in that experience. AJ is very smart for this move.

The environment at BYU is so very attractive for a young athlete who wants to focus on his/her sport , academics, and a bit of social life with Christian guys/gals. The Marriott arena is loaded with tons of excitement with rabid fans. Parents are on side as well. As an aside, Not one dime of LDS charitable dollars goes to NIL.

Great discussion. There was no disrespect to BYU or Utah in this program. Being a BYU alumnus, and a current megafan, I am not sure how anyone would consider the discussion disrespectful or hateful. I thought it was quite good. BYU has always been very competitive. Everything said was correct...It is a great fan base. We are willing to chip in for great talent...NIL does change the landscape. Those colleges which have a very active fan base willing to donate will see great talent come their way. It is terrific that we have Kevin Young as a very experienced NBA level coach. The team will get better and better. This year is exciting to watch. Next year will be even better.

Absolutely every statement you made is a ridiculous lie and completely pathetic, byu and utah deserve all the disrespect in the world for their insanely disrespectful and pathetic schooling model, also the fact that it's in a sundown town, byu has never been legtitimately competitive, never been, their fanbase is beyond pathetic and it's just a bunch of racist mormons, byu's team will never get legitimately better and contender for anything, you sundowntowners are incredibly pathetic, and to you clowns complaining about how much he got paid, the lds church is worth 150 billion, and aj is generating far more value than he's getting paid, you guys are pathetic and a joke of a fanbase

The NIL played into some of this. Watch the interview with ESPN. AJ’s dad did not tell him what the amounts were until after AJ made the decision. He left the money out of the picture. Go watch it. BYU has a full NBA staff. The real question is “How did BYU keep it quiet for 2.5 weeks?” You want these guys, show respect and not leak things out. That is one of the big reasons they liked BYU.

Transfer portal: Yes, schools will at first go to the transfer portal heavier. but, over time, the NIL contracts will have stipulations about repayment of NIL money if they go to the transfer portal or leave early for any of the leagues. The schools are not stupid, and neither are the players. For now, a deal like Dybantsa's with BYU make a TON of sense for the schools trying to get to the next level. That said, BYU doesn't get AJ Dybantsa without the program they have in place with NBA coaches ALL OVER THE PLACE including Kevin Young that has 15ish years in the NBA and has interviewed for NBA head coaching jobs! Additionally the schools will need NBA-like programs, offenses, strength and conditioning, nutrition, facilities, and don't forget FANS!!!! BYU HAS ONE OF THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST production value in the Marriot center. it's incredible! that is coming from a Duke and BYU Alumnus.
