20 years later and I still hold this mix dear to my heart
Was at this! After doing the ferris wheel we did Sonique, Tong and then Oakie in the main tent. It was huge. I defy anyone to post a crowd reaction like the three from 38 mins on, to Picottos ‘Lizard’. Oakie was on channel 4 the Thursday night previously and promised a special treat in his set. This must have been it as we were clubbing every weekend and this was the first time I’d heard it. We took my brother to this and he was into his bands but loved the vibe. Will never forget him running from the bar over to where we were when Oakie played this shouting, ‘What the hell is this?’ He came with us to everything after that. A huge moment! Also worthy of note that night was Goldie in the D&B tent and Scott Bond’s back to back set with the then little known DJ Tiesto in a ridiculously small Gatecrasher tent. They played the magic ‘I Believe’ by Lange for 15 minutes, chopping between two copies to extend the chorus. Definitely top 5 nights ever and remembering what a buzz it was to get home at 3pm the next day, check if the tape recorder had taped the essential mix live event you’d just been to and lying on your bed listening to it. We lived it!!!!

Just took the dog for a walk down the canal, headphones on, head torch on, had to stop for like 15 minutes from 39 mins to 55ish and just dance in the mud in the dark by myself. Fuckin unreal tunes!

The highlight was Liam Howlett doing a dj set with a boxing ring as the dancefloor on which I found myself surrounded by about 10 Elvis' dressed in white rhinestone suits 😂😂😂....
He dropped PHAT PLANET (which was an un-heard of track at the time) and the whole place went absolutely nuts...... Ahhhhhhhh the nice memories

Magnificent time for Trance, so many of the best tracks were made then... still playing those now!
Takes me back, I was only 16 at the time and was too young to go but my sister and her ex had tickets for it so my sister had me record this for her on cassette whilst flat sitting n that clubbing horn you can hear in the background is my sister's ex, the next day when they got back I had recorded 4 hours of gatecrasher live @ Lotherton hall on 2 cassette's and then we listened to the recordings n got high, good times.

This was the real trance shows not like these days . oken always did a fantastic job lining up his sets. Nicely done, now days no excitement. Pioneer's decks are doing all the work and nothing is real like in the break of the track back then crackling of the dust was priceless.

Ironically the opening shots remind me of the isolated green covered miles around Lotherton Hall and Tadcaster! The aftermath is still somewhat there in the overflow carparks believe it or not, a real shame I wasnt born in time.
