- I was so excited to test out the Zevo fly trap in my farmhouse kitchen to catch fruit flies. The results left a lot to be desired.

Great review…..I didn’t catch one fruit fly but the bowl of vinegar and soap caught many
I’ve had a few people comment about how it works great for them and then a few say it didn’t do any better than mine. I wonder what makes the difference.
So, the moral of the story, apple cider and dish soap works best for fruit flies. It also works faster and is less expensive. Thank you for sharing your experience with Zevo.
That about sums it up! At least in my experience. Some folks have said it works great for them.
No I tried that but Zevo saved US....
Mine is covered in dead flies and nats. I love it
I’m so glad it works well for you! So far in the comments it has been a mixed bag of working great for some and not at all for others. 🤷♀️
I had fruit flies all over my kitchen and bathroom (wherever water supply was) and I plugged in my Zevo. It worked wonderfully! Within 2 days they were gone. Zevo even caught flies! Sorry yours didn’t work but I give it a 10 out of 10!
That’s wonderful! It’s a bummer I’ve been seeing such mixed reviews. For some folks it seems to work great and then for some like me it doesn’t do much at all. I wonder what the difference is
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse might want to check the sticky pad. They might be old and bugs won’t stick to it.
@@robinwood8953 They are sticky to the touch and new out of the box. 🤷♀️
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse LOL! Maybe your fruit flies are smarter than the ones here! I’ve even caught flies and moths so I don’t know why yours didn’t work! Do you have lights on around it? I didn’t catch anything until I turned all lights off, even the night lights.
Thank you for the review. Good job
Maybe you should have done the test separately instead of testing both in the same room at the same time. Granted that fruit flies and other flys are attracted to odors and maybe more so that to light but, how about another test of the zevo by itself.
I actually did that too! Should have mentioned.
We went away for the weekend. Cleared out all the vinegar traps and had absolutely no food for them anywhere. After three days of the Zevo plugged in and no where else for them to go it was pretty much the same.
Can you try again without using the apple cider vinegar and see if it is effective when it doesn't have "competition" for the fruit flies? I'm curious because I was thinking of getting one also.
I actually did! For two days out of the five I didn’t have any of the vinegar out there to see if it would perform better. Not much of a difference.

Thanks for responding. I'll be going with the old fashioned option!
My Zevo traps are disgustingly full. They turned their noses up at the vinegar lol. Zevo is catching everything(eww it’s so gross). I moved south and yes when I was in MN Zevo was meh. I ❤ low waste products, but it’s not easy to combat the explosion of creepy crawlies. I am gonna have to try the a c v again, maybe in the fall.
I use it all the time, it catches everything flying and crawling love the product , it’s better than smelling vinegar all the time my opinion
I’m so glad it works well for you! I even tried a test where I put away all my vinegar traps for three days, made sure we had absolutely no scraps out or anything to attract flies. Still only caught a handful of them. 🤷♀️
It works great for me.
Thank u I made the vinegar and soap traps and put them all over my apartment they are dying so fast I was going to order the plug in traps so thank u so much for this video I'm go stick with the vinegar
That’s great to hear! 🎉🎉
Well, I learnt something useful today. I had never heard of the vinegar and dish soap method. Seems to be a winner for fruitflies. I'll be setting up one. Thanks!
We were infested with gnats n drain flies, zevo saved US within a week GONE!
That’s wonderful to hear! I’m so glad others have had better luck with it than I have.
O ok thank u much I guess I will try them
The bowl off vinegar and soap does not work.
I recommend a short wide glass, apple cider or white vinegar, and about five pumps of dish soap.
I’ve caught HUNDREDS if not thousands of fruit flies this way over the years. You can see the example in the video how many it caught in just one evening.
We bought one of these when we a "bloom" of flies appear in our kitchen a few months back. The ONLY thing it is good at is being a nightlight. The cool blue glow lights up that entire end of the house but has never caught a single house fly.
I’m glad I’m not the only one! I had a few people on instagram say it works great for them so I thought maybe I just had a dud.
I have the tabletop and wall style units. The old fashioned fly tape works much better on common house flies.
It's all about location, location, location.
I tried four different spots around my kitchen and sadly same results everywhere. Even tried in the bathroom when they were bad.
I really really tried to give this thing every chance to work well and it just didn’t do the trick.
I was watching the commercial and they used fake flies 😅 false advertising
I didn't even notice that! For shame!
Yes, it’s crap! LFSYS Window stickers are working well for me and I have tried everything. I put the stickers on my fridge and mirrors too.
Good tip I’m going to try them!
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse I hope it works for you! I still see them flying around here and there but the population is way less.
"Fruit fly gravy" is how I learned it. Yes, Ew.
😆
Where was the sticky part they get stuck on for Zevo? I use Sten and it works pretty well.
It's between the wall and trap, if that makes sense. So the back side.
