I haven't watched that music video in such a long time, so when I saw GD come out with the highlighter yellow braids my face instantly dropped. I don't feel like I would've been a second-gen k-pop fan if I had my current mentality back then, but I also feel as though being a second-gen kpop fan and living through all of this stuff is the reason why I have my current reality.
G-Dragon was the first asian global ambassador of Chanel and Karl (CEO of Chanel) spoiled him sooo much since out of big luxurious brand courting GD, he chose Chanel. He was also the first celebrity sponsored by Chanel for an MV as you can see in one of the scenes in his One of a Kind MV which he played tennis breaking the box glasses with luxurious clothes in it. It was a Chanel wardrobe. GD was the reason why fashion industry picks kpop celebrities as ambassadors, he started that trend. No wonder in this year of 2021, he defeated Beyonce and Justin Bieber as the most influential fashion icon despite of being in hiatus in kpop for 5 years.

Thanks for your 2PM reaction. 2nd gen groups coming back from their military hiatuses into the world of 3rd and 4th gen standards are going to face some challenges if they try to match the aggressive intensity of today’s bg performances. Most are in their 30s now, and their bodies simply can’t do what they used to as much as they used to. I’m glad the 2nd gen groups are exploring other sounds and presentations.
2PM’s sound is influenced by R&B and explores genres of general pop, R&B, hiphop, and electronic music. Industry people have started calling them artists. They now write many of their own songs - 7 of the 9 songs on the album were co-written by them, including Make It, which Wooyoung produced. They write music they want to make and think their fans will like, which I think you touched on. Also, their fandom is older - average age is 30s, with their Japanese fandom (they also have a full Japanese discography) averaging older than that.
Other work to explore from old to new with an MV: 10 out of 10 (debut), Without You (the live version at their 2016 6Nights concert is amazing), Hands Up, ADTOY, Go Crazy, My House, Promise (I’ll Be), and The Cafe. Members wrote the last 4.
Not sure if you are interested in their Japanese work, but they just released a mini-album and MV in September. The title is called With Me Again and was written by Jun. K, the oldest member. Also a mature vibe.

We grew up with the trends from back in the day so us laughing at the music video is not making fun of them nor means we dont like them, its nostalgic and because we’ve aged since then and realize that some trends were just not it, it makes us giggle.
