I came into your shop while my boyfriend was in the dentist next door, it was amazing. You didn't have the strings I was after but the experience of seeing everything including the river was worth it. I did eventually find the strings, eBay. Can't find them anywhere else. I think I bought a jaw harp, a box of picks and a few other things. Thank you. 😄👍

When talked about c.f.s (circular fret system) I stopped to search for it and to understand it. It's made by a company called fgn... The idea is that each string crosses each fret at 90 degrees.

Very nice, vid made me drool so freaking much, I needed a sponge for the mess. I have found in my dealings that any mom and pop shop gives incredible service compared to a corporate environment store.
The conjoined headstock is such a striking feature of that guitar! It’s truly a special piece. It would have to be a feature if he built one! No questions asked..

I’ve got one of those old fylde mandolas that was in the wall pretty much the same as that but it has a poorly top . The bracing has gone and the top has dished . It sounded amazing when it was playable. You walked past it and it made a noise 👌 . I’ve started the repair by removing the back and will rebrace it but not sure which bracing to use at the moment. On going project lol I’m a guitar builder in Bournemouth . Can’t wait to play it again very cool instrument I bought for £300 back in early 2002
Yes to the triple neck acoustic, and can you rope in Sofia to help/teach you? But (as a non-builder who learned what little he knows from build videos), wont starting with 3 "budget" acoustics just make it harder rather than easier? Multiple top/side joints, will that be a weakness? Assuming you use the 3 necks, you're locked into existing scale lengths and peg layout - does anyone "need" 3 regular necks. Some kind of variety ... 6, 12, baritone, ukulele, or harp guitar etc, then I can see the purpose.
You could still have the option to rip the frets out of a couple of necks. Fill the headstock and re drill for bigger pegs giving you the option for a harp guitar layout. Although yes it may create more work..
Imagine that you live in Plymouth but you need to travel the 25 miles up to Ashburton by bus so your boyfriend (R.I.P.) can see a dentist. Well we did , but while he was getting his teeth done i went next door into WM guitars and i can say that if i had the opportunity i could have spent all day in there. If you ever get the chance to go there you won't regret it. Don't worry about stepping on the river window, it'll take your weight. Maybe I'll take a trip up there again just for the memories.
As someone who prefers old gnarly or different guitars, I'd love to visit that shop one day, but it's a long way to go, especially as I made a solemn vow to not buy any more guitars. Thanks to you and WM Guitars for showing us this wonderful place, and long may it continue! Of course you should build the Cerberus guitar! How about an electric version as well? It would need to have a hollow body, of course.
It’s the river that runs through our town Ashburton. Named the River Ashburn. Our building was built over the river as infill in the 1800’s. The building was put on stilts which are old ship timbers. The river was named ‘The River Of Blood’ because our town used to stain old military uniforms Red due to our rich iron deposits locally so the river used to run red from the iron staining. There’s several local folklore tales about the river also. It has a rich history! We put the glass feature in the floor when we bought the building!
Im going to be down your neck of the woods in the summer and so I think I will visit that shop, I just know there will be something there thatI wont be able to leave without purchasing, there were some absolutely gobsmacking guitars in there although I did hear Westone mentioned who knocked out some very piss poor instruments in the '80s, I remember my local guitar store had some and they still had most of the same initial batch in 1999.

I'm rather loving the Woodstock reverse headstock PJ bass on their site. £1k for a hand built, nicely spec'd, non-standard design bass seems like a bargain.

@@Slikx666If you tell the shop what strings you want, I'd bet a lot of money that they would order a few sets to accommodate you. Most shops will.
