Hello There, first, it was a surprise that you are introverted. I thought you were a very social and outgoing person. From where I sit, you have excellent reasons for quitting your job. It makes no sense to hold a job that isn't fulfilling. Go for what you are passionate about regardless of how bleak the beginning might be. I started following you about three months ago when you uploaded your Mutombo in Kenya video. I believe I have learned a lot
Hahahaa thank you so so much, Rodgers! You are right. Many people actually have that perception of me because I am sociable and I am not shy. But if given the choice to either converse or to text, I will 100% go for texting because then, I can pace the conversation. Anyway, thank you so so much for these kind words. I appreciate them and I appreciate the fact that you have stuck around for a few months. I remember when I started seeing your comments and I appreciate it! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Very well articulated and thoughtful evaluation. Thanks for your attention to detail and very thorough analysis! I would love to hear more about your “non-negotiable and of course what you would do differently!!! ❤❤❤
I am also a chemical engineer. I have a second degree in management. Egineering job is full of hussle. It was energy draining. Quit my decent job a year ago and started my wellness and fitness job. I become a journalist, cinematographer, social media influencer and part time traveller too. I am living my passion. Am living Happy Life. I feel you sister.
That cycle of work you just described has been my life for the past 5 years! 8am to 8pm some times even 10pm continuously for all the days of the week, weekends are not even sure coz I have to work every Saturday… infact one day I’ll be the one saying I’ve left my bank Job with no fear and regrets. I’m really trusting God on this!
Amen to that. And may the work of your hands bear abundant fruits in Jesus’ name! This effort is not for nothing and you’re right to keep trusting God. When the time comes to take the next step, you will know ❤️❤️
Good for you Mutombo. I saw this coming because you didn't seem enthused or challenged at work, plus overworking yourself with editing plus the recent travel vlogs😉 Congratulations on a courageous decision to improve your quality of life and chase your passions. 2 suggestions: pls make sure you have something saved for medical emergencies as well /medical insurance not just day-to-day living expenses because you never know when something serious is going to hit you. And 2. try to stay on top of your engineering standards, best practices, certifications etc by participating in workshops and seminars periodically so that if the perfect opportunity arises to go back into engineering in the future, you'd have kept your skills up-to-date so you can easily slip back into the job market (just as a backup plan)
😂😂 @ you saw this coming. Haha! Love that you recognise that taking a step back was improving the actual quality of life. At a certain point, not everything is about income or money. Though of course, we all strive to have enough and then some. Loool. Love the two suggestions you put forward. Very valid and I totally agree with you on this, especially since I am still interested in the industry. Thank you so much for taking time out to write this! I'll always appreciate it, Ella ❣
Mmmh Mutombo. This is the perfect reality of alot of women abroad. Ontop of all the depression and all you still have to be a FULL TIME MOM to 1,2,3.... Children. And you can't just quit cuz family back in Cameroon depends on you. As you rightly said, that's why I took so loooooong breaks from TH-cam cuz I couldn't just manage my full time job, days of hours at my 9-5 which slowly turned 7-8 with no help, motherhood....aarrrrg 😩😩😩....it's reallllllyyyyyy tough. If I had my way I would have abandoned everything and go into hiding for a bit😮😢
I can only imagine having to balance all this plus motherhood! Chai! More courage to you Mims!! God will definitely show you the way to go. ❤❤❤ I support taking breaks when you need because at the end of the day, we have to take care of the bodies (physically and mentally) that God has given us.
Girl I feel you exactly and I 110% agree, I'm next in line, I'm also an engineer and everything you said same is true for me also. ; The desire for fulfilment and living life on my on terms is strong on my heart. I'm now in love with you, you're one of my kind, thanks.
😭😭😭😭 Please don't make me cry this evening... Too late. damnn, Today is 16th June 2024 and the time now is 12:28AM here in Nigeria. i don't even know the right word to use and describe how i'm feeling right watching this whole video to the end. All i can say is you not inspire me but you also give me this courage because i'm at the point which i also took a big step into this entrepreneur stuff which i also document on youtube. Thank you , you just have a new subcriber
Hi Steve! Wow! Thank you so so much for your comment! First of all, congratulations on make this bold step into entrepreneurship and self-employment. It really is not an easy decision to take and I commend your decisiveness and bravery. Just keep working, keep at it. It is honestly not an easy journey but I believe there is a lot of development that comes with it. I checked out your page and saw you are into trading. Courage and don't forget to put your endeavours in God's hands for guidance (in addition to putting in the work of course).
Congratulations to my favorite Cameroonian TH-camr, roads to 40k by December nothing is impossible because honestly the value and quality of your channel is above channels of even 100k. You will do amazing things by the special Grace of God
Now, this is the type of prophetic vision we need, Sarah! Ah, you have just made my morning 😂💃🏽. 40k by December, amen? Amen! Thank you so much for these kind words. I appreciate it a lot and I wish you all the best too in your endeavours!!! ✨
Thanks! Perose, For the bold move, I know it takes guts to do what you’ve done. You have our backing . Your really articulate… I wish all little African girls will grow up to be as articulated as YOU!your an inspiration.🤜🤛
Hi Karl, omg wehhh! You've been a consistent viewer since the day you discovered this channel and I appreciate your support on this journey so much! Regarding being articulate, you have actually just given me a video idea! ✨ I'm sure you will recognise it once that video is up! 🥳🥳
As a fellow creative and the Introvert-in-chief, we’re super proud of you Ma. You’ve done what all of us fantasize about daily. We’re learning from you. Congratulations!!! 🎊🍾
😂😂 @ ‘introvert-in-chief’. Love that! And please don’t be surprised to see me recycle that term. 🤣🤣 Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sometimes, the encouragement makes all the difference 🙏🏽
I can relate with this. Transportation in Douala is so expensive! I used to leave Bonapriso for Makepe daily. Truly it feels good doing what u like. More grace 🙏🏻
I would say I am honestly proud of you. I think it’s a smart move because your reasons are beyond valid. As a creative, sometimes it can be hard to do other draining things cos your heart yearns for an outlet. It’s better you give this a shot and feel a sense of fulfilment than not do what your heart is pushing you to do. I love this for you… Go girl!
Thanks for the update Hun! One thing I have learned during COVID is that we must find what not only makes us happy but what our body wants. Unlike you I am an extrovert and being MOSTLY online for months at a time affected me greatly but thankfully I was able to figure it out and actively plan how to go forward better! Keep doing what works best for you! IT'S IMPORTANT!
What you said about learning more about yourself during Covid is spot on!! I am an introvert but I also learned that being an introvert doesn't mean I should go for several days without human interaction. It's terrible. There's a reason why solitary confinement is extra punishment in prisons. Anyway, that's beside the point, I think. Haha. I didn't know you were an extrovert, omg! It's always nice to learn something new about the people who have been here from day 1. Thanks for the encouraging words, I really appreciate you taking time out to share. Full disclosure, I read this comment a while ago but I didn't want to respond until I was able to sit down and write all the above... and that brings me to today. Thank you so much, once again.
25:54 … I hope it feels lighter now, coz when Mutombo speaks we listen and with pleasure. An introvert …? That is a debate for another time. I wish you all the best for your new path. P.S. What a relief to see your neck free … 😉
I can totally!!! Absolutely relate!! My God this video….I can totally relate..Here I am with an extremely demanding bank Job! Trying to build my TH-cam channel, be a mom it’s exhausting! I keep saying if I invest the amount of energy which I’m currently investing in my bank Job, in the things I’m passionate about(which is cooking), I’d probably be getting more fulfillment. This video was really important especially for me…Thanks for this video🙌🏻.
Girl, I was breaking down like that and I don’t even have kids yet so I can imagine how hectic it must be for you who has a family, bank job, TH-cam and you are slaying at all of them. Nooo kudos to you Tee! 🦸🏽♀️ You’re amazing!
It’s refreshing hearing from you. It’s been a while …. Basically, I was home for some month and I see pple who are self employ doing well. My mother was self- employed for 30 40 yrs and we never went to bed hungry. I’m on the part of self employment too.
You’re so beautiful Mutombo. You’re such a hard-worker and creative lady!! You look great in the blue T-shirt! Also the video setting today is really nice and the quality/lighting superb.
Thank you so much, Leony! 🤗 I love blue and I think that's one of my favourite tops at the moment! Nice and simple. Thank you so much for the encouragement. It keeps me going ❤❤
All I can say is I am so proud of you and with God at the center everything will be alright. PS : sassy I can’t get over the fast forward on the workout clip! I rewind that several times and laugh to stupor 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I love you and sending you so much light and love ❤️
Waohhh this brough back some memories when I was still creating content ! Videos creation ( TH-cam) is not for the faint hearted and doing that and working plus running a normal life is harderrrr I remember my heart was always beating so fast from not sleeping enough. So I had to make the hard choice of going for what pays the bills 😂. Anyways just to say follow your heart and do what brings you peace and futilement. Wish you all the best ahead ❤
You've got this! I'm happy to have encouraged you in some way. Thank you so much too for the encouragement towards me. It really is not easy but the comfort zone is meant to be breached. All the best in your endeavours! ❤❤❤
Yupp! I learned from experience that multitasking is not always the most productive way to do things. Thank you so much for following along on this journey, La Rouge 💄✨
At the beginning of the video, I was like «hunger nova touch this one . But, further into the video I clearly understood and also realized how some of my own careers had my own personal well coming first before the income. Courage and wishing you luck as you grow your channel. 🎉
😂😂😂😂 Romanus, you killed me with that line “Hunger nova touch this one” 😂😂, which of course is a very valid point. I’m happy you saw where I was coming from though. Thank you Romanus for the well wishes. I appreciate it 🙏🏽🙏🏽
You are so real and your videos are entertaining, inspiring, and relatable. Thanks for this video... I feel more calm with my personal decisions. Thank God for using you as an instrument to many who have taken decisions and were bashed for it. I also quit my job and money and title was my biggest fear but thank God for His faithfulness
I'm so glad you could relate! Honestly, sometimes that's all one needs to know that they are not alone in how they are feeling. And thank you too for these kind words. Title was a big issue for me too, but I just had to do what God had put in my heart to do. And like you said, we thank God for His faithfulness. God bless you, Ateks! ❤💕
Congratulations on making a difficult yet wise decision. Best of luck in pursuing your hobby as a job. I’ll be here to support and witness your progress.
Awww that mug « self stirring mug » very fitting. Thank you for this Perose. It is not easy conquering the fear of the unknown and it is really refreshing to see that you chose yourself and your passion at the end. Goals!!
Way to go Perose. We will do everything we can to support you. You are already doing so well. Teaching is the one thing that gives me purpose and I ultimately want to be a teacher.
Waouhhhh this is really courageous as an act!!! All i can say is that you need to do what you like to do and with this it will not weigh on you. Hummmmmmmmm i like what i am seeing , IS SASSY BACK???
Sassy is back, Doudou! You hit the nail on the head. If you are doing something you enjoy you are more motivated to push through the difficult times and keep going. Thanks for this! 👌🏽👌🏽🧡
@@mutomboinprogress glad to hear Sassy is back💃💃💃💃 Enjoy this new chapter of your life and live this journey to the max. My dear man ei life no get photocopy ooh na de original we di use. Therefore use am fine fine 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Wow, I’m sure quitting wasn’t easy but just from your appearance I can see the difference, the weight lifted off you! There’s a sense of calm, relief/ease and light about you! 😇😍Bravo to pursuing what is best for you at this season of your life. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾I had to slow down (cut back) at my job too last year even though my job is fulfilling, because the previous year I was working too much and was feeling overwhelmed. Even though it meant making less financially, the peace I gained (and the extra time to visit/be with family and engage with friends) has been totally worth it for the me. I might pick up again later but for now I’m just grateful to do with less. Less can truly be more sometimes!
Thank you Es! I'm happy you also got to cut back and smell the roses... and also recognising that there are seasons. Less really can be more. Thank you so so much!
I applaud your boldness It's quite a decision to take... but Have you considered working remotely.. There are a lot of remote engineering jobs... I wish you the best on your journey to self-employment and may God guide you😊😊😊😊
Remote work is actually one of the non-negotiables I was alluding to at the end of this video (or at least, hybrid coz I don't mind going to the office a few times a week), so I'm definitely open to that... but we'll see. I trust that once I find the right role, I'll be back in the game! The main reason I'm not in a rush to get into that now is that I want this channel to gain momentum and reach a point where I can actually take a step back and go back into an engineering career. Looking at the African landscape, I realised that there is a reason why all the biggest African creators are full-time creators. If I can pay for assistance with some of the work, then for sure, I will be able to do both. It takes a lot of dedication and I want to see how far this can go. Thank you for the well wishes, Patience, and for always coming back ❤❤
You got my full support, girl, on the channel and your other side jobs! And look at you kicking butt at the gym! The gains you’ve made is so obvious! I long to get back to being active again! Sigh!
I’ve been watching your videos for over a year now, and it’s so inspiring to witness your growth. Congrats! On another note, with telecom being at a larger scale in East/Southern Africa, you could still venture out there in the future if you wish
Thank you so much, Justin! True! I definitely agree that there are flourishing industries in other parts of Africa, so that's a great suggestion. I appreciate it!!
I don't comment often, but I love this! I'm proud of you Mutombo for making this brave decision and approaching the process with thoughtful consideration and preparation. Thank you for blessing us with the valuable insight into your journey towards self employment. Looking forward to seeing the growth; may you flourish in this next phase of your journey.
I can relate, I worked in project management/ administrative roles for a while. It really sucked, plus I have adhd and I hate meetings. It was one boring meeting after the other, and constantly communicating with random people in different teams and multitasking many things. I was always depressed and drained on my way home. Went back to school and retrained. I’m a web developer / designer now, I’m happy just coding and fixing things for hours on my own. Nobody bothering me. Of course still have meetings but just once a week 😊
reading this is literally like reading my own thoughts 🤭❤. Thank you very much for sharing! It's great for me and for others who feel the same to be validated and see that it's best to lean into your natural strengths.
So happy for you Sis🎉. What a bold and courageous step. This video is literally setting many free right now, many who have been held back by fear🎉.The journey will not be a walk in the park but will be so worth it and so fulfilling.God truly bless🙏🏾
I love you sis! Why am I all teary watching your video? I equally quit my 9 to 5 job and that has been one of the best decisions I ever made. Best of luck beautiful Mutombo
I could easily tell you no longer work from your Kenyan videos . Lots of questions kept popping up. Like which company or firm will let their employee go on a trip non relatable to their field per say. Anyways I wish you all the best sweetheart. It’s never really easy. Looking forward to take that bold step someday. I actually did last weekend but here I am, back on deck 😂😂😂. Your case is even different bc what you e been doing aligned your professional aspirations unlike me who’s just doing what I’m doing for money and not the passion. We wish you all the best and were here for you. “Should I say we’re the reasons why you quit?”😅😅 bc trust me. I’ll be pumping dollars into your account by watching your videos regardless. You’re my favorite Cameroonian TH-camr of all times. I love you and keep up the good work.
Wow! You are such an inspiration! Watching you take control of your life and make such a big change is truly inspiring. Social exhaustion or introvert burnout is a true thing and crucial to one’s mental well-being. It takes a lot of spine and stomach to leave a great job and pursue something you’re more passionate about, but you did it! Keep pushing forward and never forget how amazing you are. You are a true inspiration to anyone who wants to but is afraid to take that first step. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! You go girl!
😭😭😭😭 you are so kind, Bleshy!! Thank you so so much! You have even put into words some of the things I didn't even know how to term in the video and it's perfect. 'social exhaustion', 'introvert burnout'. I appreciate you ❤❤
I understand how it most have been very hard because I also had to take such similar decisions and I like your move dear, I took a very brave❤ decision.
10:15 funny I’m Listening and watching whilst cooking and then boom ‘people you have eaten’…I did the scooby doo URRR sound effect, so had to pause to see what in the Freudian slip 🤣😂😜. Congratulations on the self actualisation journey you are on. Some people go through their whole life and never get on that stage.
As a student Electrical Engineer i feel bad, when i serached for an Electrical Engineering Videos on you tube your videos came, thats how i followed u. Time to time i've been Checking on your channel for another Engineering Videos especially at work. Nonetheless, thank you for sharing your contents with us, good luck in this Chapter of your life.
Awww I understand what you mean, Francis! Don't worry, I will still share engineering content, especially as pertains to studying. Once an engineer, always an engineer. edit: Don't feel bad. Keep working and studying. Electrical engineering is a field that is always in demand and it is very flexible.
Firstly u should line ur eyes more often they complement ur features sooo well. Congratulations on quiting ur job it requires a lot of courage and I am rooting for U to excel in all of ur new pursuits, we love seeing u in PROGRESS ❤
Ooo thank you. I tried a new method for lining my eyes and I'm sticking to it! Thanks for confirming it works! Thank you Steph for all the encouragement ❤❤
When I read the title of the video I was like ‘’ elle est folle ? In this Cameroon ? ’’😂. But everything you said totally makes sense. Especially the commute issue. Traffic in Dla is terrible. There is absolutely no reason why people should lost 2h (sometimes 3h) of their life in transport. It’s frustrating . That is one of the reason I refused several times to move to Douala. Anyway, good luck in your new path and may God assist you.
So proud of you. You have to follow God's leading by faith because He is about to take you to a higher level that will blow your mind. It's never easy but it is worth it and you will rejoice. Glory to God Almighty.
Amen, Chantal! You have said it all. It's not easy, especially when you don't know where you are going but it's worth it. Glory to God indeed! Thank you so much!!
Merci bcp Haliima! And courage to you as well. I'm sure God is sending me ahead to go and make the mistakes, learn the lessons so I can share so that others don't make the same mistakes! ✨💃🏽

Ha it's the courage for me. If it's not too much to ask, you could share with us your African parent's reaction when you told them this. I like how you went ahead to do it even though alot of people will not understand what you felt or feel. Courage sis, higher heights.
Ahhh that's a very good idea! I'll probably include it in a video but since you brought it up, I'll just say here that I have no choice now but to prove that this was not a stupid move 🤣🤣🤣 because the bombastic side eye is looking at me
I feel u very well. u are thinking out of the box. I think u did the right thing by quitting your job. I feel if u invest more time on TH-cam, you will grow. Thank you so so much for this, Delta. I have read and reread your comment so many times over the last couple of weeks because it really inspires me to keep going. Well come back!!! Thanks a million! ❤
Go girl. Keep striving, keep shining. You’ve found and intersection between your purpose, things that give you pleasure and your strengths. The sky is your limit.🎉
I just discovered your channel and i already love you so much. Just continue pursuing happiness and doing the things that make you happy cause at the end that's really all that matters ❤
I was wondering how you were living your best like in Kenya when you had a job. Now I know. Haha. Anyways, absolutely inspiring and helpful. Didn't occur to me that you could save up in order to leave formal employment to pursue your own thing. Started a fund for that immediately. Thanks. Will be refusing to talk to anyone that's not subscribed to Mutombo in Progress from now on. Good luck.
🤣🤣🤣 I knew I definitely had to clarify that timeline when somebody asked me if I have 2 months leave. Hahaha Thank you for this support. 🤣 Not you refusing to talk to non-Mutombians (yeah, the name is finally growing on me)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sometimes, the encouragement makes all the difference 🙏🏽
I can relate with this. Transportation in Douala is so expensive! I used to leave Bonapriso for Makepe daily. Truly it feels good doing what u like. More grace 🙏🏻
Thank you Lawna ❤❤❤
Haven't been on youtube in a long time but I had to come back for this one! Thank you for being so honest and courageous! xx
❤❤❤❤ thank you R ❤❤❤
I would say I am honestly proud of you. I think it’s a smart move because your reasons are beyond valid. As a creative, sometimes it can be hard to do other draining things cos your heart yearns for an outlet. It’s better you give this a shot and feel a sense of fulfilment than not do what your heart is pushing you to do. I love this for you… Go girl!
Thank you so so much, Mabel! I really appreciate it ❣❤
Amen to finding fulfilment!
@@mutomboinprogress Happy to share and get your reaction hun! Keep pushing forward!
25:54 … I hope it feels lighter now, coz when Mutombo speaks we listen and with pleasure. An introvert …? That is a debate for another time.
I wish you all the best for your new path.
P.S. What a relief to see your neck free … 😉
Thank you sir!
The way she breaks down every detail.❤❤❤❤
Thank you Blandine ❤❤
It’s refreshing hearing from you. It’s been a while …. Basically, I was home for some month and I see pple who are self employ doing well. My mother was self- employed for 30 40 yrs and we never went to bed hungry. I’m on the part of self employment too.
Thank you so much!!
Your mother: an ICON 🏆👏🏽
I Hope you enjoyed your time at home!!!
You’re welcome Mutombo💗💯

Waohhh this brough back some memories when I was still creating content ! Videos creation ( TH-cam) is not for the faint hearted and doing that and working plus running a normal life is harderrrr I remember my heart was always beating so fast from not sleeping enough. So I had to make the hard choice of going for what pays the bills 😂. Anyways just to say follow your heart and do what brings you peace and futilement. Wish you all the best ahead ❤

I'm so glad you could relate! Honestly, sometimes that's all one needs to know that they are not alone in how they are feeling. And thank you too for these kind words.
Yup! sweetheart,You summed-up-it-all-well n nailed it!👌i’m impressed 🤜🤛
Thank you Es! I'm happy you also got to cut back and smell the roses... and also recognising that there are seasons. Less really can be more. Thank you so so much!
@@ndzi_karl👊🏾✊🏾
I applaud your boldness
It's quite a decision to take... but
Have you considered working remotely..
Thank you for the well wishes, Patience, and for always coming back ❤❤
@mutomboinprogress of course and thanks for producing wonderful and soothing content...we are with you one step at a time #mutombians😎😎😎

When I read the title of the video I was like ‘’ elle est folle ? In this Cameroon ? ’’😂. But everything you said totally makes sense.
