only 4:44 min in and already blown away by beautiful result. you're too good for sharing this! comparing to other tutorials yours are the most satisfying in all ways from chill narration to incredible outcome. thanks for sharing the wizardry.
Just a quick efficiency tip-you can get the reciprocal of your rate in the same Math CHOP you Multiply the Constant channels with by setting the Channel Post OP Parameter to Inverse.
hey man.. just beautiful results, no question about it... however, could you maybe do a tutorial and try to explain why you did this and that, meaning just open this project and go from node to node and explain what function it does... that would help as rookies immensely... If you ever happen to be in frankfurt am main, germany you are invited to a beer or two... :)
Yeah, I try to balance speed with pedagogy, but yeah - maybe I should start adding little explainers or create new info videos. Nice suggestion. I’m not anywhere near Frankfurt, but if I’m ever there ;)
Jus to heads up RE Life component, make sure you set the Feedback's Pixel Format to 32-it RGBA or set it on the Threshold. You need the Alpha otherwise it will not work
Hey, thanks for the tutorial but at 19:39 you made a cut and the whole visual becomes a lot more reactive. I've been struggling with this for the past hour how to fix it but I just cant figure it out. Could you please help me? I already tried the thresh 2 and math 1 but the problem doesn't lie there. Thanks!'
I’m sorry, I should have been clearer m. I’m speeding up the video since it’s just dead time in the tutorial. But you can make it more reactive by multiplying the mouse-in values with a larger value. Either with a math chop. Or by typing in *3 (or whatever) at the end of the expressions. Does that make sense?
I also dont get the tornado to go up. only in a slow pase by letting the particles turn and make their way up slowly by turning around. Maybe this can help :)
Great tuto btw if you drag and drop chop value on the parameters like color in constant that applied directly on the 3 value, its faster than just write it 3 times
14:30 when setting the rgba like you did, I get a weird perpendicular set of two planes instead of one cohesive one like you did initially when masking BA not RG… any pointers anyone?
3:35 whenever i do this, the noise top auto connects to the "end" null, and when i try to remove that connection, there is a red x sign on the end null and the white square in the display disappears.
I did everything as shown in the video, but my particles do not rise up as at this moment 20:33 , but only change their rotation speed depending on the cursor position :( Who can help with this problem pls
awesome! Thank you for the tutorial! just got a new subscriber😀 Do you know how I can attach a webcam input to this so it can react to the particle system??
This is amazing, thanks! Do you happen to know of a way to have the particles instead of moving organically, move more on a dynamic, quantized grid? Would be awesome to contrast the organic movement with a more 'digital' or quasi-'systemized' movement.
Love this whole series! I have been having trouble adding my color selections back into the feedback. I can isolate with chroma, but when I add it within the feedback they just fly away. I reduced the offset to zero and really low numbers but they really move out of position. how do you add back into the feedback without exploding the particles?
Where in the tutorial are you? Im guessing you are talking about the noise. Make sure you are multiplying the threshold with the noise (under output selet input * noise) otherwise you are adding the threshold to the noise by default. Maybe that helps
Great Tutorial as always! Totally noob question (apologies). I'd like to export what I have from around the 13 minute mark of this video. How do export this to video? I figured it out on a previous tutorial using a movie file out TOP, but I don't know what to connect it to with this one/ at the 13 minute stage in your video...
Plug it into the last node in your system. Think of movie file out as “recording” what is happening in the node it is connected to. So plug it into the one you want to record.
@@tomwillhilloh that makes sense. Sorry. You tried to record the point information. The “view as points” can be treacherous. But we first need to render those to a “human understandable image” lol. Skip to 21:23 in the tutorial. Where we build the render network. And then record that. So we first need to instance those points in a geo, record it with a camera, and then render. And then we can use the movie file out.
I swear I did everything step by step, yet somehow, it seems like my particles are hitting a wall when reaching the x or y guides. my "grid" isn't in the center of the x and y, it's corner is, someone ran into similar problem?
hey, I have a question if I can make it motion reactive somehow, even tho it is not particles I would like it to react to motion thru ndi. How can I connect it please?
Thanks a lot! just had one problem, when i try to move my camera in the render network part i see my particles as 2d object, any idea why? thanks again
Sounds like you just have 2 channels. Either your pixel format is set to 32bit float rg. But more likely, you forgot to add a third channel somewhere, probably in the instancing tab. Check the instancing tab in you geo, did you set r, g, and b in the translate x, y, and z tab.
@FutureofOUTdoor oh, if your computer can handle it.. you’re gonna have 6.5 million particles. create a new constant chop with two channels and set it to x 6000 and y 1080. And link that to the res all the nodes that are linked to the current constant (but for x and y) you could divide by 2 or 4 it if it gets too intense. And then you need to stretch the uv with a math - so multiply the x direction (red channel) by the ratio (6000/1080 = 5.555…) with a math TOP. To resize it. Or I guess you could just scale it by 6000/1080 in the x direction in the point transform top (after the reorder) that’s probably easier lol. And then you just need to center it

@cm0132 move the threshold down a little bit so it “picks up” more particles. That can help

@cm0132 @Anckg Set the "Multiply" parameter of the "math3" operator to 0.01 (instead of 0.001)

I would love to know too 🙌
Doesnt work since 4:40 with Mac M1 or does it only with grafix in PC ?
It should, what does your issue look like?
its really wonderful if you want to do this project with kinect than what changes to do
my threshold doesn't seem to be resetting. I built the life component but it's not resetting the pixels
The whole particles disappeared after adding a keyboard in node and tapping it. How do I bring back the life particles ? Or how to keep it reforming ?

Yes looking for the same. Lake Heckerman shows how to with Particles GPU but I'm not sure its possible with geo instancing
Yeah of course it’s possible.
I’m posting a tutorial next week where I go through it

can we change it to hand tracking?
My threshold seems more sensitive then yours and I can't seem to get the pivot to react to new values in the point transform. Odd.
Any recommendation for using a joystick instead of mouse to move the shape?

One way that I’ve been playing with lately is to turn down the exponent of the noise (in the feedback loop) to zero.
