Thanks Bloxyy! Yeah I'm picky with my sponsors, but when these guys got in touch with me, it seemed like the perfect product to recommend. It's worked really well on my bike. Definitely a better solution than my "duct tape to the bottom of the seat" approach haha.
Thieves would likely remove anything like this from the bike as it makes it easier to identify. Something like handlebar grips which can incorporate it would be ideal, as long as it doesn't block the signal. Perhaps a video idea to test it?

@@MegaLag I have an idea that I have done with postcards. you should go on vacation and ad few days before you are scheduled to leave send a package with the air tag inside and see who arrives 1st. i know drop off times are different so you could just call it at your local post office.

Get the mako thing for the airtag, pretty much hidden in plain sight, solves one of the main concerns of the airtag in terms of theft protection and obvs gonna be cheaper than €2.2k

Hey ML! I wanna say I love your videos! I had my nice 2019 Norco Storm 3 (paid $700+) stolen from me Sunday night, and I got it back Tuesday afternoon. But thanks to the AirTag, I was able to track it! The thief took it around my area near my college, and eventually sold it to a unknowing guy in the next town over for $150 where my friend saw it on a transit bus! Although some accessories were taken from it, plus a bent brake lever, my bike is still in good shape after I took it to my local bike shop to have it looked over. Also, I bought a 3d printed mount on Etsy that puts my AirTag under my bottle cage where it’s barely noticeable.

Living in the Netherlands, I was of course super tempted getting a VanMoof and the AirTag network support was a further plus. Ended up with Muto, cheaper and the big plus was being able to take the battery out to charge but no AirTag support of course. Great video though, the maco sounds perfect as I wanted to attach an AirTag in some way, better than taping it haha

May I suggest you add the name of the bike to the title (or at least the tags - - in case you haven't already). This would make your video discoverable to the bike manufacturer (which may increase your chances of a better customer support since they'd look forward for a better review) and will also increase your discoverability to people using Google to search for the bike name

Great Video! I'm driving the 2020 model without Apple Find My in Düsseldorf and it blows my mind everyday; Great bike ;D The Vanmoof actually has a second battery in the smart cartridge (the computer) to get the GSM location when the main battery is dead. I would say that the bluetooth connection will stay active with this extra battery too. Also when you drive until you are on 6% the motor will shutdown so lights, gearshifting and connections just as Find My will stay online for a longer time :)
I've read a lot of comments in the past where people got a damaged or somehow broken bike from them. What a shame. So you are probably not alone with this... PS: Normally I'm always "the one" that gets shipped all the damaged products :D welcome to the club, I know exactly how you feel!
I refuse to burn over 2k$ for a bike that can come with issues and despicable customer service afterwards. An e-bike do look fun, but this Vanmoof I'll absolutely stay clear off if I ever drop the investment. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the video on the vanmoof. I hide my airtags under the carter of the motor of bosch motor. I got mainly cube electric bike. And first of all i modify the airtag to completely remove its speaker

The GSM tracking seems like it was included for redundancy. That's one of the biggest things in engineering, you have to add redundancies to allow for situations where important features fail.

For the issue in with contact in Germany: I own a S2 and the Berlin vanmoof store helped me 2 times very fast via phone. They have a local phone number. Also calling the office in Amsterdam works ok, if you‘re ok with the cost calling a abroad number.

5:15 what do you use to track the multiple positions? That is rather cool. I can see using that when I'm on a trip to keep my wife updated on my location and where I have been.
Hey! Not entirely sure what you mean? This basically tracking one device (Vanmoof) but because I attached an AirTag to the bike too, you can see both being tracked at the same time. Hope that answers your question!

i work at a bike shop. the problem is that the seat post probably didn’t get enough grease which is a major factor and yes obviously the duct tape, now us bike mechanics definitely try to put out bikes as fast as we can and sometimes stuff doesn’t get done how it should be that’s why we have two mechanics look over the bike before it goes out also the bike handle was definitely a shipping error it happens all the time every single wheel on each bike that we get in in the bike shop is always slightly bent it is totally normal
My next bike will definitely be an e-bike, but I'm waiting for the market to mature a little more here in the US. I get the feeling that it's still fairly early adopter tech.
There are the same bikes available for you guys that we have. Any bike you can get in dispute, you can get in the US. In fact,I might venture to say the US bikes are better. Less restrictions. It's all the same, and there is no sorcery going on. It's pretty basic stuff.

You should totally test powunity's bike trackers! I use multiple ones on my ebikes/motorcycles
I don't think 2200€ is very expensive for a good e-bike. I payed 2000€ for a Bosch E-bike without all the whisles (it had a bell though). If i was in the market for an E-Bike i'd strongly consider this one after your review, seams pretty cool!

I watched your previous video and bought an airtag for it when I got a new bike a few months ago. I have an iPad which I use to setup my airtag and I carry my iPad with me and my SAMSUNG PHONE when I cycle to university. The first two days, I got it, it was OK. Then I noticed afterwards, every time I use my bike. My airtag will beep every time I cycle to and from university because it thinks my Android phone is being tracked by the airtag even though my iPad is with me. In the end, I ended up returning the air tag. I was also not that worried of bike theft afterwards because I noticed other bikes on campus were clearly more expensive than my cheap bike. Maybe I'll get the Samsung one but like 90% of people I see on campus use iPhones so the apple network will definitely be better.
There already is a secondary battery in the vanmoof, unfortunately you cant in any way see the state of charge of the bike. But the main battery always keeps the secondary battery at 100%, and if the main battery dies, you get about 1 month of additional tracking.

My wife has my suitcase and back up car/house keys as she is going on vacation/trip across the US - 2 of the biggest flaws with air tags, I should be able to share them with family or friends. The wife has 3 items of mine with tags, I can see them she can not. She has the back pack, the roller suit case and the keys. I can watch the suit case move around the airport cool and as she gets set to board the plan all 3 tags have lined up in 1 location. The other thing is you can not view them on the PC/Computer interface. I'm not like most, but I hate to use my cell phone for anything unless I'm out. I'm working on the PC all day long, it has 3 screens and I can always put something I want to watch up on the 3rd screen. It should be part of the iCloud on the web. I'm almost always at the PC on the laptop etc. the phone is just in a bag or on a charger
